Against that. There are lots of players who play equally on different servers.
I can get behind a "1 house per server per account", but not a general "only one house EVER, ANYWHERE".

On a different note...are those aquariums dyeable?
If not, can they be dyeable please? xD
I really would like a big fishtank to drown my lalas in, but they all look very..Limsa-ish :0

In the preview it looked like there were 4 different aquariums in the inventory, but I didn't see the little dye bubble on any of them so I don't think there's a color choice. It would be nice if they'd keep that in mind with new housing items and work their way back to making older items all dyable too.

I know it would likely be hard on the servers, but I would really like the option to upgrade my personal small cottage plot to either a medium or large at some point without having to go hunt down a new house. Having the option to simply just save up your money and then access the housing menu and select upgrade and choose what size you'd like. However, like I said it might be too much to implement. But something I would like kept in mind.

You can't just increase the size of a plot in the overworld. They have a fixed size and the entire map would need to be reworked to allow for every house to have the size of a Large.
But then you'd be stuck with the problem that they'd need to put invisible walls in the middle of your giant garden until you upgraded to max size, because otherwise you get to use more space than you payed for.
Also, we'd have only a handful of houses per area because they'd take up so much room. This sounds like a really bad idea :(

Unless you are talking about a TARDIS-effect, where it's bigger inside than it looks from outside.
But that would suck for the people who want to upgrade just to have a bigger garden.

Really, there is no scenario in which I see this play out well. Except for housing in which every house+garden is it's own instance, of course :rolleyes:
But not with the current neighbourhood system.

As in, you pick a place you want to move to and can get right over without the trouble of having to relinquish the old plot and buying a new one.

I don't believe they've mentioned a time period for the moving feature, only that they'd be looking at some time after apartments went in. That gives them a mere eternity after 3.4 hits to implement it. :)

Does anyone remember, back around beta (perhaps even before) when Yoshida was talking about housing, didn't he mention something similar to Final Fantasy XIs Mogenhancement system? Basically a method to get a permanent bonus effect from decorating your house... I think he mentioned it wouldn't be as limited as XIs (which tied effects to certain furniture, so you were limited on decorating if you wanted certain effects), but I think it could be a nice justification for decorating houses... More furniture you place, more potent the bonus becomes... With apartments on their way, it's not like something like this would be unfair anymore, and I'd really like for the furniture market to be somewhat more justified and active...

Was this concept scrapped and replaced with Free Company Actions and the Aetherial Wheel? Kind of a shame if so, I think...

Aquarium chandelier. Circular like gold saucer chandelier, but transparent and filled with water from bottom, sides, and maybe a circle on the inside (like a donut).

A housing glamour to make homes look like traditional Japanese mansions. Would be an excellent cap-off to the variety of "Doman" housing items that've been added to the game over the last couple years.

I love this, and yet this idea makes me a bit wary. An option to build our own house would be great, but not all of us are into putting in the craft and gather grind. If we have to pay crafters and gatherers to help us build one I can see housing quickly becoming unaffordable. :( I love the idea of those who have put in all that time and effort to be able to enjoy the process of creating & showing it off in an obvious way though! Maybe it could also be implemented as an Option to build it yourself, or to have custom "add-on" options players can make and sell to customize a base house?

Housing glamours and craftable parts are as close as that will ever get.

-this was in response to a post on pg 126 about idle roaming.

I can see myself letting it go into AFK mode just to watch it happen and meet more people. Maybe even a mode that allows the characters to enter that mode while still being able to actively chat without disabling it too.

I've seen others suggest ground texture options for housing, lusher grass, lava rock etc. I just had another thought along that line so I wanted to add it--fallen leaves. It could be possibly versatile for different yard themes. A big huge color changing maple as tall as the house would be lovely too, especially if we can jump on/climb branches. FC members tend to enjoy jumping around and we occasionally make a sort of obstacle course to gain access to the balcony.

yes I just finished going through the latest notes after Alice's post :D \o/ there are a few things I was hoping for being released!

Can we please get the "tabletop yes/no" toggle for NPCs? :)
It is really annoying that they have to stay connected to the ground. Lalas should be able to stand on lala stairs,
we should be able to put them on the new stages we get in this patch,
and just in general players work so hard to create interesting and cool furniture combinations (like entire extra floors!) and the NPCs can't stand on any of them..kind of frustrating :x

I think having more designs for beds is a definite yes.

And, balconies too...

The apartments are small, the lobby is small, the marketboard and aetheryte are outside the lobby too! What is the point of the lobby when it is claustrophobic. Right now you have 100+ people in Idyllshire, but about 2 people (including me) in the Gridanian lobby of ward 1 in Cactuar. Hey I know your reference might be the apartment/hotel room sizes in Japan, but this is a fantasy game where the server costs to host a virtual mansion should be no more than pennies for the life of the virtual mansion. A ff14 house that actually has walking space isn't some rare 20 million dollar apartment in Tokyo.

The apartments had so much potential, and all I get from it is claustrophobia.

Suggestions:

1. Make 2 million, 5 million, 10 million, 20 million, maybe even 50 million gil options for apartments. Different sizes, the more expensive ones even with rooftop balconies. The 2 million-10 million ones should at least have balconies so people can garden and use outdoor furnishings, and to be honest, the 500k ones deserve at least a small balcony for gardening or some kind of special wall/flooring/ceiling design. In case someone wants to accuse me of just wanting lots of stuff for cheap, no as an end-game crafter I could afford medium/large houses, I just think a GAME, and a game in the 2010's, shouldn't have something like a small bland 4-walled room and call that an apartment. I think the people who designed the inns in THIS game realize that.

2. Much larger lobby, preferably with two or more floors or at least multiple rooms on one floor. Make it a good social gathering spot, a place for residents to lounge. There should be unique furniture so people feel they are getting something out of having an apartment they don't get from owning a house. For example, maybe a minigame room with arcade games, triple triad, jumbo cactpot gambling, etc., a training room with dummies, dueling, etc., giftshop room with some available furniture displayed and access to marketboard/summoning bell, etc., a communal crafting area with crafting furniture that have moderately gimped crafting buffs or a small fee per use for the full crafting buff, an indoor green garden area maybe with decorative fountains.

3. Much larger outdoor area. The plots that the apartment buildings sit on are about the same as what medium homes get and actually I think they may be closer to small house plots... I mean, come on. If I thought it was fun to live in a place like what this game tells me is housing, I would live in a cardboard box. Why don't you do a poll for your players and ask how many live a cardboard box.

Ok... let us put our dolls on wall-mounted shelves and wallpaper/expand the partitians to better match the wallpapers, because it's like really annoying.

I haven't used the new wall mounted stuff, but being that they previewed them with the dolls in them are you not able to do so? Or are you talking about on top of them?

The riviera wall shelf should as well. As long as you have the "toggle counter surface placement" active when trying to place tabletop items they'll sit on top of it.

That seems like it may be affecting you personally then. :( I put stuff on those all the time. Maybe try changing camera angles or place the wall shelf in another area and see if it's easier to put things on it, then move it back with the items on it?

My FC members and I have used several ways to get ourselves up there but the simplest method would be getting that door to work upstairs ;-)

I agree there shouldn't be a limit. Just in case you're wanting them for the bonus, just be aware it's only a +10cp bonus that only works until level 50.

LOL! No way! I just needed it to make a kitchen for my apartment that I'm building. That's disappointing to hear, though. I guess I can just use the ones I have for aesthetic reasons.

I'm enjoying my new apartment and enjoy decorating it but I've noticed one drawback to apartments; no mail. My apartment is in the Goblet and my FC is in Mist and since most houses can put a mailbox in their yard, these zones don't have a delivery moogle. I've had friends craft furnishings for me and it's become somewhat annoying to port over to them, have them port over to me, or port elsewhere to take delivery. Since they often craft stuff for me between Sophia and Creator runs it's much easier to rely on mailing to simply leave mats for them then they send back the finished product.

So, my request is to add a Delivery Moogle either outside the building near the stables/bell/marketboard or within the lobby. Or add an indoor Mog mailbox furnishing.

Feature Suggestion: Trophy Chamber

Basically, this is a location inside of an FC/private house that lets you put up the "I did this!" furniture, such as the Leviathan fountains, Head of the Dreadwyrm, and so on.

Alternatively, a "trophy case" or "trophy shelf/shelves" where you can put the same furniture, only it gets scaled down substantially so that it's still obvious what it is, but doesn't require a lot of extra visual space.

It's probably been said before...
I would like a way to cross pollinate the plants in the flowerpots.


I already knew you couldn't do it before I got my apartment.... But I can't help but feel dissapointed when I'm tending my pots...



Also, the lack of animations aside from the generic use item...
I really liked when I used the watering can, or kneeled down to pull weeds when I used the garden on my other character...

Im sure its been requested, but I'd like to add my voice to the request. I'd like candles. Just by themselves. The Brass Pricket and Manor Candelabra are nice... but not quiet what I'm after.
