Warrior and scholar both need to be knocked off their respective off tank/healer pedestals~ Otherwise any additions to the tank and healer role are moot and pointless.

I can't tell if you're saying we need another "brutal style" in terms of aesthetic, in which case I'd say DRK already qualifies (with SAM being decidedly more disciplined, which I guess you could say is similar to PLD) or if you mean the Bad State WAR is in right now where it's considered "bestest off tank" and a substandard main tank, which is something that definitely needs to change going forward. While there will inevitably be some imbalance in job performance as nothing is ever truly completely balanced, Tanks going forward need to bring their own A-Game on both Main and Off Tank. The idea that a Tank ought to be designed as a designated "main tank" or "off tank" is an inherently bad one.
I think we all can argue all we want, the ones who want SAM as a dd and RDM as a tank will still think and want that and the otherway around the same :D and i doubt SE would change the path they choose for the jobs anyway at this point ^^
and who says we are going to get these jobs anyway :P maybe we arent getting SAM at all, maybe something like bluemage represented by raubahn, redmage represented by allisae and i dont know, dancer represented by yda / her sister :p
WAR is already a Jack of all trades tank job because except Foresight and RI, not a single one of their tanking cd's is only effective on a specific type of damage. They may not be as inherently powerful, but they do in fact work against all damage types, where DRK is best described as an antimage tank, while PLD is an anti physical tank, having cd's and abilities specifically designed to handle that damage type. A Jack of all trades RDM tank wouldn't specialize in mitigating a particular damage type, and would simply tank them all equally as effectively. Your misunderstanding of the tanking toolsets is showing. A War MT would actually be preferable in pretty much any content when they're paired up with a PLD, but not with a DRK because of how much a DRK loses as OT.
Except it's entire visual style pretty much. Not to mention Viking has appeared in a whopping 2 Final Fantasy games, one of which it had no unique identity except being tanky, and the other it was a spellcaster. Viking is one of the weirdest choices people seem to throw out for future tanks. It's a rare Final Fantasy job with no real unique qualities and doesn't come anywhere close to the appeal or popularity of so many other choices.
Is just everything you type wrong?
Warrior has 2 CD's that only work on physical attacks and 2 that work on everything. Dark Knight has a single move that's specifically against Magic attacks, then they have 2 that work on everything, and 1 that only works on physical. Paladin has 3 (4 if you count awareness) for everything, 2 for physical. None of these tanks are "anti-physical" or "anti-magic". All they have is miniscule advantages in certain encounters and that's it.
