I've been in this boat from the get-go- even if devs do decide to do the opposite races they probably won't start working on them until 5.1, which would allow (at best) a WIP cameo in the later parts of the expansion a la Yugiri + Fran.




SE isn't going to say a direct "yes" or "no" this early, even if they have decided internally. SBR hasn't even launched yet. A yes would rob 6.0 of something to play up for press/player hype. A no could end up with another wave of player anger/negative press before 5.0 goes live. Don't get me wrong, I am disappointed that they have yet to even give a fluff response, but a reply along the lines of "we're looking into it" or "we'll consider it" are what we can hope for at best.

I didn't say your opinion wasn't valid after all it's an opinion, although if you think it's coming before 6.0 I personally think it's wishful thinking but that's me and my opinion and that is assuming they make the decision to make the additional genders. You're entitled to yours just like anyone else who decides to post in this thread is entitled to theirs.

I hope this isn't the attitude they're taking towards it, because it's this sort of thing that led them to string us along in the first place. Saving things for the sake of thunder and hype two years from now is a pretty bad choice when people are leaving now and you could get them back with a simple statement.

There are other important matters than worrying about male Viera. They're still in the process of splitting datacenters and that 5.0 actually is working without the necessity of emergency maintenance.

I would love to come home from work tonight and see reddit, twitter, tumblr, and the OF on fire because Yoshi confirmed male Viera next expac. It would be nice for the fans, yes, but to shareholders and beancounters its a waste of good press, and good press = $.

I feel like they may make a statement in the May live letter. I don't believe we will get them until the very earliest in the middle of the expansion but most likely 6.0. I personally don't think its realistic to expect earlier. As long as the come at some point I feel like they heard us.

It depends on how you look at it. Splitting datacenters and 5.0 actually working means very little to the people who are leaving over the genderlock itself, or the people upset over how bad SE handled this entire situation. I mean, we can't prove anything, but it's very easy to claim SE didn't confirm the Viera genderlock until after people could no longer get refunds over their expansions - and mind, I believe SE admitted they knew there'd be backlash, and that includes in its extreme cancelled pre-orders and unsubbing.
Between people being certain SE wouldn't reintroduce genderlocks only to be sorely disappointed, and this entire thing feeling scammy, I think there's room for them to address this on equal measure. A lesser product can be tolerated if people have faith in the company and its image, two things this entire incident damages.

Completely agree with you. I really thought they would keep the values they sold they had to us when they released ARR only for them to commit the exact same mistake again. That being said, I think it's realistic to expect them from 5.3 earliest up to 6.0, but judging by what they just did they might even do some moves like remove one at each time or something like that (it is not what I would want to happen, but after seeing how SE cares about their values I don't think it's crazy to think that)

Everything we're hearing about is stuff that is confirmed to be happening with the release of Shadowbringers. Naturally we're not going to hear anything about mVieral or fHrothgar, not until in the very least a live letter which isn't scheduled until mid of May.
