Apologies are meaningless, what is important at this point is clear communication and timeframes of resolution. The post today was very confusing and unclear as to which datacenter (or both) they were referring to.

Everything up until today can be written off as early access woes. However, today is the official release and there are outstanding issues across the board:

1. A population of people who pre-ordered/bought the game still have not gotten their pre-order code or digital rights confirmation - players can't get access to the game

2. Server capacity has been lowered, mixed with no idle auto-disconnect feature keeps server at full or near capacity around the clock - players can't get into the game
-This causes people to game the system by leaving players logged in 24 hours a day in order to get around the login process and worsens the login wait times.

3. Some servers are locked to new character creation (on the day of release....) and cannot play with friends who are on a locked server - players can't play with friends
-The server queue system is not working, players get error 1017 a world is full and must sit and spam the login screen to try to get into the game

4. The error 90000 issue is still occurring and removes players from the game and depending upon time of day can't take extreme amounts of time to get in due to #2/#3

5. There has been no direct and clear communication from SE to the NA/EU datacenter customers about a plan to resolve the capacity issues or fix the queue system - This is the #1 rule of IT outages

Remember today is launch day, they had a 1 million player beta 10 days prior, they have historical evidence of prior AAA MMO launches, and this is an MMO re-release. Its very difficult for even the most patient of us to just sit here and hope.

Absolutely this. I don't understand how companies releasing AAA MMOs are always so unprepared on release day. And how in the hell is there not a properly functioning queue system or idle auto-kick? This is plus the lack of clear communication is simply unacceptable.

Why is this not fixed yet? Do they want MORE money from us? Or are they happy with the money we already gave them? Even though we aren't getting anything in return for our money.

I don't see any decent communication happening right now with the player base besides "blanket apologies" as someone else put it. I wanna know what they're doing fix this and I want a timeframe on when I can expect it to be handled so I'm not stuck here pointlessly mashing login and watsing my time

No, the queue is/was higher than that. I was queued in yesterday at something like #392. Today, it's so congested there is no queue or you get booted from it.

Let's also put it this way- yes, launch is always overloaded. However, it was 1pm est time and I was already 1017'n. It's Tuesday. Afternoon. People are at work. Some (not all) kids have gone back to school. If you are this overloaded at this time of day somebody at SE should be losing their job. It only gets worse as the day goes on, and weekends? What's SE going to do when it's Saturday? Shut the game down and say sorry, we can't fix the problem and we don't want to break any equipment?

Honestly, SE should just shut the game down till the issues are fixed. What's worse than not playing game? Playing a game that isn't fully functional.

Please get off your high horse... ive played almost every major MMO in the past 10 years from WoW to The Secret World and everything in between. Yes alot of them had problems but none, AND I MEAN NONE, of them had problems to the point where on day one of launch I simply couldnt play the game... 1017 + character creation locking + non afk timer = people who didnt get EA get fucked in the ass!!!

They had a deadline to stick to. I'm sure they would have loved to have extended that another month or so.
I'm studying game design at the moment and it's very difficult. I always consider the first month of a game's release to be extremely problematic.
That's why I'm not upset because I didn't expect everything to be magically working the day the game came out.

I don't know why you're all so upset, just do something else until they fix it. You'll get grey hairs. :P

just got kicked off the game and now getting 1017 yet again. I wasn't able to log on at all on Sunday, now I got a couple hours in today and it looks like that's all I'm allowed.

I've had this error all day... just have to keep trying to get in. I've been kicked from the server by the game, and my internet keeps DC'ing. However... it does not waiver my motivation. Enjoy the game too much to be bothered by it.

I tried to login as one of my characters but kept getting the 1017. Which is pretty retarded when today is official launch day.

For god's sake let me play! I just picked up my copy that I don't need because I bought this game in 2012, and now I still can't play. :( ARGH!!!!!

Whenever I see someone standing in a corner for ages and about 10-15 minutes later I come through the area again and they are STILL there in the same spot I just want to rage at them! Because they're stopping another person from coming in who could be actually PLAYING the game instead of this guy just standing there!

This isn't even including maybe 1 in 35-40 people who just stand around in any areas such as the Limsa Lominsa Lower/Upper decks, the Steps of Thal in Ul'Dah or even dotted around the Central Shroud in Gridania! Action needs to be taken if you want to at least relieve SOME of the stress of people trying to login all the time SE!

Yes, this is an insanely easy thing to patch. A few hours at most to write and test. They'd probably throw around the "It would require us to disrupt the game for the people who are playing in order to push a new patch" excuse, but there are enough people who can't play to justify it. Or... idle log out timers? That would fix it...

I'm paying to play but I can't play = I'm wasting my money and my time in a title screen, a character creator, an opening movie and a list of servers blocked :(

I have to admit, once I get into the game, when I go to sleep, I'm not logging out. Why? These wait times. I'm fairly certain that's why everyone who has started doing it is doing it.

i dont understand why we're not put in the queue?! there IS a queue. I've been on it. What's the 1017 thing about? They just don't want us trying at all?

Kick the fucking idlers. Problem solved. How hard is that for SE to understand?

They're probably putting every last inch of manpower in to solving this problem.
It's the day of release and SE have invested a lot of time and money in to this game, they're not going to be down the pub scratching their butts.

There is an actual limit to the number of players who are allowed in the queue at any one time. Why not a secondary queue, you say? Who the hell knows...

easy way to solve this issue that took m3 3 hours to get in, and the awnser is kick players from the server when they are afk, since unless their connection drops they can be in the server afk for all day
seriously kick them fror beeing afk and the queues are solved in parte atleast

When the Frozen Throne was released i was unable to log into the game for two days. Queues of more than 1000 people. When could log, i was disconnected.

This always happens at the launch of any MMO or expansions. Some have luck or time to log into alternative schedules or stay logged in all day.

So I'm cool with that.

Now, if next week nothing is resolved, it is quite simple: i'll just stop playing.

Everyone comes here in the forum complain (and have to do it) but nobody goes there and cancel the account.

So...

3 EU/US servers out of 25 accepts new people.
22 JP servers out of 25 accepts new people.

People all over the world are having problems AT LAUNCH and SE is silent as the grave...

This is it SE, you won't get to do 3.0. Get on it!

Someone else stated this just now but seriously it's tuesday today at a point where the majority of the country is still at work and in school and you're telling me your servers are so over stressed that I can't even get into a queue? What the hell kind of ancient cheap tech did they get for this game?!

Games with less than half this game's budget have better servers than this.

This issue would be significantly less annoying if the queue system actually worked. I've had it put me in a queue and promptly tell me Lol nope, and then I've had it tell me I was 78th in queue and put me in not too long after. 8I

Where the hell is the que I mean sometimes its there other times you just lock people out come the hell on man. You can so go play a different server but that don't help my friends are on that server and this is why I just plain wont log out anymore. Absolutely ridiculous.


Oh and also love the fact that SE doesn't even respond to this issue, or if they do its just "We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you". Shut up and fix it or give more free time out like the first time you launched.

The stupid thing is, not only do they have inferior network engineers, they have inferior Sr. Network engineers.

The first thing to do in this situation is set up an emergency team, to patch the launcher on the client side to catch the overflow of the failing queue system.

It would take a team of programers a couple of hours to write a small sub program creates a 2nd queue "room" that reports to the SE HQ instead of datacenters. Which then SE can send delay routes based on server load.

Thus when you log in to "server1" it's actually going to [check server load script] instead of "server1"
When you do that you can completely lower the simultaneous connection speed via client interface "check server load every 3 minutes else, queue"

It's the equivalent of setting up a line on the street, when the lobby is filled up.

I would like to know the following:

Why am I automatically getting kicked out of que and received the 1017 Server is full message?

Why are the servers so small?

How long is it going to take for SE to fix these problems so everyone can play?

This is poor management IMO, and the whole, "Just keep trying" crap is very distraught.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience", is nothing but useless words no one cares to hear.

I would at least like update on how this is getting fixed, and an ETR. Acknowledgement that you are doing something about, and the above mentioned at least lets us know you are aware of it and trying to fix it.

Nothing means you could care less and don't care at all.

no they arent. they just added servers for japan and japan never had login issues.

Square, I love you guys but you are really trying my patience. I am tired of being unable to play a game that I payed for.

yeah, sometimes it tricks you and puts you in the queue, then when it's apparently your turn: 1017'd ... like they're making us want to throw our keyboards at our mothers.

i got into the queue, 71 people ahead of me. immediately after that window popped up, 1017 popped up. This is poor planning. They knew how many pre-orders they had, they could have said "well we have 150 thousand copies pre-ordered, we might want to make sure our servers are up to snuff and can handle that amount of people" but it seems like they just guesstimated the numbers and poorly misjudged them. I'd wager they planned for 3/4 the number of folks they actually have, if that. I'm willing to be patient, i know they are "woeking on it", but if i still have these issues by next week then the money they got from me today will be all the money they get from me.

Either open new servers, raise the caps, or extend the queues and add secondary queues. I'm not going to sit here and spam logging in just to try and play.

What sucks is i was online earlier, then my power went dead. Was just about to fight Ifrit too :(

Honestly I feel like I should have expected this. Why does it seem like every single Japanese made MMO styled game always has some kind of crippling flaw when it comes supporting their NA/EU servers?
