Someone had the gall to go "Healers Adjust" in Aglaia...their own healers left them on the floor.

A lot of people go on and on about how we're so much better than the WoW Community, but after 4+ influxes...we're really just as bad at times.

The devs have started to really marginalize an entire class of players. Making healing less important than DPS. I don't really enjoy DPSing, I want to run a healer, and I shouldn't have to endure Tanks and other players bashing me for wanting to run the Job I enjoy the way it really should be played...as a HEALER not as a DPS that can also heal.

Suggesting to people to DPS instead of doing nothing is not harassment. Idk about your experiences but generally speaking, one can say "Hey, healer, you don't need to heal me so you can focus on DPS if you want."
Also, why are you playing Sage if you do not want to deal damage? You have Kardia, you heal when you cast offensive spells. Sage being this new damage-dealing healer was its selling point and what hyped people. That's like playing BLM and spamming Scathe because you always want to have free movement and not be stuck casting long spells. Then why are you playing a caster role?

Healing is not less important than DPS. The imminent need to heal is nonexistence in most content so if you only heal you would stay idle for 99% of the time. DPS-ing is more important than staying idle.

Quit healing since Endwalker warriors made it boring for me ^ as well as 60% HP clemency runs


Although will be doing a bit more healing since I lost a bet in PVP duel so now I'm their lvling healer for a bit but no more after that

Healing is situational, DPSing is pretty much universal. That's essentially the meta issue here. Unless in those rare occassions where the enemy is untargetable, dealing damage will always serve to fulfill the win conditions- Healing on the other hand, only matters if the next attack would prevent a player from fullfilling the win conditions, which is a situation that not only we see less of as new content seems to forget about heal checks, but getting better and gearing up also makes healing checks less common.

So in a sense, healing is indeed less important than DPS, as its value is not constant throughout at fight.

I'd say that's a bit of an understatement in endwalker. Tanks solo fights meant for 4 or 8 players in the tier's starter gear, and for those that might have friends instead of using the DF for their daily expert, taking 3 DPS in is pretty favorable.

If not for the duty finder, and that the duty finder locks in healer slots, it would be a struggle to find a party on jobs that just don't add much to most mainline content.

Yes and no. I will heal for FC members and/or friends but that's about it. I just can not stomach the one button damage rotation anymore. It's such a shame, because i always play healer in any game that features them. In Overwatch, i main support. In WoW, i played priest. And in games like Darksouls i would play the closest to what a healer could be (Faith build). But In FF i just find them so unengaging, to the point where it becomes silly. I love the aesthetic and animations of all healers. But yeah, there's just no substance.

I haven't quit healing, because despite ff14's poor design I still enjoy healing itself, it can be more reactive than the strict rotations of dps and rewards planning and coordination in harder content. I don't really enjoy dps or tanks more. The game has been going down a path of simplification and accessibility that involves ripping various content away from people who liked it in order to push it onto people who don't for a while now.

I've just quit everything except harder content instead. I can't be bothered doing roulettes, alliances, beast tribes or whatever. What's the point, it's all empty accomplishment that no one cares about and an inferior experience to single player games. Because I enjoy less and less content and only enjoy playing my main roles in harder content, it's hard to motivate myself to invest in this game and I just find myself playing it less overall. So I'm in a strange spot where I haven't really quit healer, I've quit everything else except healing and Savage/Ultimate.

I haven't quit healing, but definitely have taken it as a back-up option.

I used to have so much fun with AST in ShB. I did MSQ for EW with it and man it just felt so lack-luster compared to before.

Been having fun with PLD at least. Makes me feel like I am at least doing something.

Well you get to heal more often while also doing more damage. So you are indeed doing something.

Still healing but retiring my main AST for a while. I'm so sick of being told changes are coming and holding my breath mentally preparing for something that never happens. Its exhausting and leaves a bad taste in my mouth :/

I suspect it will happen regardless. They just want to let the residual panic factor from the most recent NIN & SAM changes to die off first before unboxing the changes for us to digest.

Following up from my last post, I have been running Expert, weekly Aglaia and maps as BLM the moment I got the job to max.
Still healing for the other roulettes because I dislike playing BLM below Lv80.. until I can decide which dps to pick for those.

I'm still a faithful SCH for my unsync static where we are currently clearing ShB savage and EX. Considering of changing roles when we are done with it.

Which isn't gonna help them much when those new changes are also disasters.

I mean I "could" heal for some roulettes just for the queue time but there isn't really an incentive. I'm tanking most roulettes because I still have the 700 milestone to work towards on 3, almost 2, tanks. Healers don't get achievements for doing roulettes or high end duties so I don't see a point other than forcing a queue for time reasons.

I’ve taken a break from savage/EX raiding and have mostly been doing Alliance roulette.

Lately I’ve just been running Aglaia and Orbonne over and over coz…I don’t know…they just feel really fun to heal.

Been mostly healing in trials or treasure hunts. Occasionally in duty roulettes. If SMN's changes are any indication of whatever butchering of SCH's synergy with Eos/Selene coming in the future, it'll personally get me to swear off SCH completely.

Came back now briefly during the Free Login campaign after a break from the game since around February (pre-"Do ultimate for engaging content" statement). Was able to jump right into the role again since like just about nothing has changed. Caught up on the Normal battle and most of the story content (did not do any island exploring) in about 2 days as a healer.

Will be taking another long break from the game (not because of story, the story is good imo).

Dropping ast as my main, probably pick rdm or bard. Can't help but to find myself avoiding healing now

I don't think I'll ever quit healing because it's my go-to role in every game I play, but I'll definitely feel burnt out if they don't do any significant changes by 7.0, let alone double down on the "healers only heal" mentality without even adjusting healing requirements either.

Some time ago i thought that i will drop healing but just cant. Its just me. I love healing....well the small parts when it is really needed.

I dropped AST because i miss Stormblood AST. I dropped SGE because i dont enjoy playing it even though i tried to like it.

I just juggle between WHM and SCH depending on the mood.

I've played White Mage for a little over 3 years, and I have no dislikes about the job, but I am worned out from playing it. (It was a childhood memory for me in older games such as FFXI.) I am trying to main a different healer so it would be a refresher to the game, and I chose Scholar. I would had went Astrologian, but its a other pure healer and I wanted to know the barrier side more. :o

Playing WoW again with 10.0 and experiencing the wonder that is playing Disc Priest again has made me feel so, so much more jaded about XIV healers. There's no real interactivity, and I think I might just play DPS and tanks from here on.

That's the rub. Yoshi and his team admit there's a problem. They admit they have nobody in the design teams who Mains healers and plays healers more than anything else. The whole role in the game is lacking representation in the design teams and it's left the role out in the cold to the point now....raid teams are running without a healer at all and healers are scrambling to be two roles at the same time (Heal and DPS) and we're loosing our identities, the play isn't getting updates it needs, the jobs are all suffering from this mass of buffs and nerfs instead of real meaningful updates while we watch tanks and DPS jobs getting updated, so...they can leave the Healers even farther behind in the dust. If they really cared? If it really mattered, they would have done something by now, would have hired people who Main healers, or even consulted with players who main healers and have for years on what specific changes/updates would be meaningful and would help the role progress and keep up.

Am thinking if not advised even if this a lazy way... they can just make the healer damage spells they have separate example whm stone 1 2 3 4 glare 1 and 2 is all able to be use as once(see fall troia whm yholta) and ofc aero 1 and 2 ...rather than then being a upgrade base on content lvl if they dont wanna give complex stuff...

I will stop healing. It is not as much fun as tank or dps. Additionally, I don't like casting classes.

Swapped from Ast to Drk. I just got too bored playing healer in most content. Healer feels too often like a 5th wheel. Yes, the party has to take you with them but they would mostly be fine without me being there as a healer, as the damage is just non-existent.

No but lots of people want me to quit. I swear the casual crowd throws a tantrum when I don’t summon a fairy or use kardia but don’t notice I haven’t used a single spell what so ever in the whole run and clear it due to natural health regeneration for bosses or WAR soloing things as organically as plants with teeth.

I'd estimate there's about an 80%+ chance that any healer I get in a roulette is going to be godawful at this game. I don't mean "hurr hurr look at this scrub healer only casting Holy 10 times in this pull what a noob" bad. I mean standing in one spot. Casting Cure when the tank gets to 95% HP. Making sure Medica 2 is running when one of the DPS takes 10% of their HP in damage. Maybe casting ONE Holy during a single, single-pulled trash pack. Standing around waiting for damage in boss fights. It can't be this hard to see how little damage goes out in this game. It just can't.

I'd just like to imagine most tankbusters outside of extremes and savage making those toy sqeaky noises whenever they hit someone. Most times they won't even die as a dps or healer. Just imagine if those got mitigated: health doesn't move. I think it is pretty telling though when, for the sake of time, i queue as healer only to get a queue moving and not to actually be a "healer" with the idea of healing as a primary. I chunk out more damage than some dps do just spamming one button in trash mobs as Sage.

Halone have mercy on my soul when it dumps me into an ARR leveling dungeon. Can't even aoe until the last two. Damage taken just doesn't exist in most.

Queuing in DF as any role alone is a goddamn nightmare. Queue as DNC and you get some glue sniffer DNC that dance partners the healer. Queue as melee and you get a healer that Rescues you for no reason whatsoever and feels proud about it too. Queue as a healer and you get a tank that gets a panic attack fighting 3 mobs.

Considering tanks can solo every single dungeon boss in Endwalker, and most can solo a good chunk of Shadowbringers, it highlights just how little damage they take. Fortunately, I don't often get the pure healer but on the occasion I do it stands out just how completely useless they are.

Came back to re-read your post right there once again because I'm feeling exactly as you've described after getting out from daily roulette p6n as a WHM, paired with another WHM. It makes me wonder what is exactly going on in their mind when they pump out Asylum+Plenary+Lilybell+Medica II+Rapture just to handle a single raidwide on top of always topping every single little scratches with more Medica IIs. To add insult to the injury, they typed "WHM??" about 70% into the encounter, probably because I choose to only heal very minimally a.k.a. coincidental Assizes, that one Lilybell I dropped, and raised somebody which they also overwrote by hardcasting (do you not see that raise icon??? I raised that RDM 5s before your hardcast ends???).

I just gave them a "?" in chat and nothing else happens afterward.

That's why I never bother with Medica II when doing roulettes, it seems nobody knows what a heal over time is.

That said, the opposite is also true: healers that absolutely don't heal unless you're already popping invuln because they're too busy casting 111111111

No, I haven't quit. I like supporting and helping my team and dislike damage rotations. I prefer reactive combat with active decision making not rote combat.

I won't ever quit healing unless they make "healers" into "dpsers". At that point, there's no healer to quit. I'd either quit the game or, if I did not, swap to whatever the most support oriented, least "dps rotation" DPS class (probably SMN, maybe RDM) is, or to a tank if there was one that actually had a lot of party support options that were viable...which there really isn't since Clemency is a no-no. I like GNB part-time but don't know that I'd want to main it. Maybe WAR, I dunno.

But yeah, I haven't quit healing, I like healing. As long as healers aren't turned into DPSers - as long as at least ONE isn't - I'll keep healing because it's what I actually love in MMOs and games in general. Healing, Support, and in games that allow for it (MMOs tend not to), Marksman/Scout/Sniper.

No, it is not the case. Just some people have convinced themselves it is and go to great lengths to convince everyone else it is.

Casting a damage spell isn't what makes one a damage dealer anymore than someone borderline obese running into their house when being chased by a wasp doesn't make that person a runner or athlete. The focus of Healers in FFXIV right now is healing. Again, despite some people working very hard to convince everyone else otherwise as they've convinced themselves. The focus is to provide healing. With some Healers, this is much more direct and with others more passive, but if your party is dying because you couldn't be bothered to stop casting Glare/Broil/Malefic/Dosis long enough to heal them, then you have failed in your Role.

If a RDM or PLD doesn't cast Vercure or Clemency on someone, they aren't failing in their Role, since their Role isn't Healer.

If a Healer doesn't cast GCD and/or oGCD heals on people and they die, they are failing in their Role.

As much as the "most of my GCDs are damage spells" is prevalent, the focus of the Role is still on healing your party. The kits are even designed to NOT emphasis damage spells to further point to this truth as the design goal. The only reason you cast your damage spell more than anything is because we have so many oGCDs and they're so powerful you don't need to cast healing GCDs instead. But even the most ardent Glarespammer, if doing their job correctly, is weaving oGCD heals between their casts. Which were specifically reduced to 1.5 sec on all Healers to allow this.

Just as running from wasp doesn't make one a runner, casting a damage spell isn't what makes one a dpser.

The focus of DPSers is on their damage rotation and doing damage, nothing else. Anything that takes away from damage must be amazing utility designed to further damage or mitigate damage reduction. Many don't even have support abilities at all. And their toolkits are unambiguously focused on making their damage dealing front and center as the crux of it all.

Not so with Healers, whose damage spells are just kinda...there.

This isn't to say Healers don't, can't, or shouldn't do damage. But it isn't the focus of their Jobs, kits, or Role.

When most/all your GCDs are spent on DPS spells, in my opinion you are a DPSer. If you are almost primarily healing your party through oGCDs to me it is your secondary role to heal. I think it's just a difference in opinion though. I will agree that healer dps spells are just kind of there as there was no thought by SE in what to do with them so they just kinda tacked it on, made every healer dps the same with a different colored spell and moved on.
