Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

I'd much rather we had a race that was an ACTUAL bestial race instead of yet another "Human + animal ears/tail".

We already have humans with cat ears and humans with dragon/lizard horns.

How many more "Snapchat filter races" we need? :P

I'm aware of how odd it is that NPC's don't even bat an eyelid at the appearance of an Au Ra (especially Yugiri), however that doesn't change the fact that Au Ra already exist on Hydaelyn. So the player themselves can imagine their Au Ra came from Othard, or their characters family/ancestors came from Othard. If Viera already exist on Hydaelyn (under a different name) on Islabard or the New World, then they can eventually become playable maybe (and hopefully SE would actually redo some of the old ARR-SB cutscenes to have NPC's take a slight interest to the new race standing before them), but if they come to Hydaelyn from an optional side-story portal to Tactics Advance or XII's Ivalice... then I'm sorry, but no.

You can't even imagine up a decent backstory to how something from a different world altogether winds up in Hydaelyn before it can without it sounding similar to a terrible self-insert fan-fiction.

No one said in the game that there is no such race as Viera. Au Ra didn't "exist" until it was made, either. Who's to say that there are no Viera in Hydelyn?! They may just have been somewhere where the player was not present.

Simple.

I don't think anyone's saying having the Viera be playable after being introduced from another world, the Viera would simply be from a different part of Hydaelin that we haven't explored yet (like the Ananta were always supposed to exist in Gyr Abania but no one mentions them prior to 4.0, even the Ala Mhigans who have supposedly lived next door for centuries). No one even knows if there'll even be a portal to Ivalice with the Return to Ivalice raid series, we KNOW Dalmasca exists in Ilsabard so it's not too far fetched to think "Ivalice" is a region inside Hydaelin.

Also, we may have the Viera in anything but name, they don't NEED to be called as such if they're tall bunny people with odd feet and sexy Icelandic accents. Also also, who says we can't have Viera AND more customization options?

Say what now? Just about every encounter with other races such as bestial races is about NOT killing them and repairing relations with them. We kill the clearly bad ones, we aint no Brotherhood of steel.

So you killed all the friendly Beastmen, too (Sylphs, Ananta, Vanu Vanu, etc)? Also, there was that one time a Sahagin had the Echo (though it's implied to have been a gift from the Ascians, which just raises more questions), so it's possible one could become a 'Warrior of Light,' maybe. Wouldn't be surprised if a Lupin becomes one.

Pretty much this. You don't wipe them out. You need to get an understanding with them. Any group, and the beast tribes especially for their susceptibility to Ascian manipulation, once under great duress, true or imagined, decide to get 'god' involved. The more humans ones run the gauntlet of desperate need to I just want to be just god's power!

They're all the same world. They just take place at different times during that worlds history........ So there is really no "Depends on whether the Ivalice" situation. Either they decide to show them or they don't.

The reason the same races don't appear in every game comes down to where on Ivalice that the story for a particular game took place or the time that it took place.

To that matter, I don't see any problem as to the introduction of the Viera as a Race, although there is an already introduced race inside of the game (the wolfkin) that should hit that spot first. Even more if the Ivalice connection that will be present to us is Vagrant Story related.

No enough with the animal people!!! Give us more face options with the races we have because i am tired of being default face 3 number 2,345,700. Oh yeah and butt sliders....oh and horn adjustments.

omg that is such an incredibly shitty design That's like "Intro to Anime 101" with some bunny ears on top. This is literally the last thing we need in the game right now. Be honest here, what is even the appeal of this character especially within the context of FFXIV? Literally no unique features other than the ears. If that's all it takes to be considered "Viera" then yeah, you're better off just using the ears from the Gold Saucer.

If SE wants to add Viera later, maybe a couple of expansions on down the road, then fine, whatever. But I pray to all that is holy that the next race they add is something that appeals to a different crowd. I apologize if I sound mad...but I am. I'm sick of SE catering to one specific demographic. It's like if you're the type of player who prefers characters like Roes and arguably Lalas and Elezen, SE doesn't care about your tastes. Meaniwhile, Miqo'te and Au Ra are all over the story, all over the promo art, all over the event art, - all over this game in general - and now people want more races exactly like them except with different ears/tails.

If that were the case, then why would she respond to me with that? The Ivalice raid is going to be one of two things: It'll be treated similarly to the Crystal Tower raid, in which it has nothing to do with Tactics and XII, or it'll be a "portal" to Tactics or XII's Ivalice. If it's the former, then Viera are still possible (The New World being the most likely place for them to be from). If it's the latter and Viera are involved in one way or another, then they can't be playable... however I will humour those who want Viera and say that the potential of a rabbit-like race could still be possible, it just won't be called Viera and will probably not look the same as Viera.

I actually love the Viera design from XII more than the tactics games. :P

A lot of ppl think that Viera are just humans with bunny ears, but they have some slight differences compared to a normal human body, they are really tall (not counting the ears), they have long arms and legs, which both have different proportions to the ones of a human, (long fingers/ weird feet?), their noses and face structure are kinda shaped to resemble that of a bunny, plus I don't remember if they actually have tails, since most of them have it covered, maybe their weird body shape is what is preventing them from being in the game, since remodelling whole sets of amor from ARR to SB to fit their weird bodies would be too much work.

Maybe I'm biased towards the concept of Viera like you said, since Fran is probably one of my fav characters from the whole series, plus her voice simply melts me when she speaks. <3

Although I don't mind Viera being in the game (I mean it's not like everyone has to be one when they come out.) Why not....

I actually don't mind Fran as a character, I just find it funny that when one says "we need real Viera, not stripper playboys!" Fran and the Eryut Village Viera come to mind on how little they wear (maybe even less than the playboy strippers).

I'm hoping it's a healer. Because I'm getting from the way you're phrasing it that anything added as a tank/healer would be irrelevant. But I disagree, if you make a class engaging enough (such as RDM/SAM), people will swap from the other roles to it. With how much hype Dancer got, I don't think making it a healer would be irrelevant. Plus, a Viera Dancer healer, looks like it could be a winning combination.

I don't want a hentai cute viera, I want a fierce Viera that looks like Fran.
