You win this time, yes i was being sarcastic. No I would hope the punching and kicking was not dancer, like i said really disappointing if it was. It doesnt mean she couldnt be like "and oh yeah, im actuallly a dancer", but in this particular fight i think shes just showcasing monkness. its ala migho, punching and kicking are their thing. Im definately playing the NPC card with this lady, which means she could be a dancer, but in the trailer shes monking around with the derplander
Indeed, and to be honest, I don't really want her to be a dancer. I want to try a new job, but I am not a huge fan of MNK. If they just made a MNK 2.0, that would be depressing.
The focus on her hidden dagger in both released art pieces is too much to ignore. That said, it is likely she is a Monk and this weapon has some sort of story significance.
I'd also support her being a DNC/MNK hybrid, and DNC being a melee DPS that plays differently than the current 3.
Okay, enough of this joke.
Let's disregard for a moment the overwhelming ammount of evidence pointing towards monk and/or pugilist.
Do you really want THIS to be the playable dancer? A second melee dps branching off from pugilist that fights with hand to hand combat moves? Really?
Not an evasion tank? A mage that uses dance moves for casting? Someone who can hand you your ass with hand fans? A melee healer? Anything?
Any visible difference from the WoL (who is confirmed to be a monk) can be easily explained by
1) this being a CGI trailer that obviously won't replicate weird spell effects
2) Combat being revamped for SB.
3) There being three stances and three forms currently ingame anyway.
4) The red woman being an NPC and is therefore allowed to have skills we do not.
I personally would hate if the dancer would have so little difference between it and the monk. And I doubt Yoshie would even waste development time on an almost exact copy of an existing job.
Agreed, but that is something that people on both sides of the argument have been doing this entire thread. People feel their argument is stronger if they say that the other side is clearly wrong. No one is clearly wrong, that is the entire reason we have a 34 page debate about it, and the reason why we're all speculating.
You need to chill, people are discussing and giving their ideas of why they think it's just a monk or that can be a dancer, that's the point of forums, so people give their opinion, being it right or wrong. o.O
Right now we can only speculate, and that's what people are doing.
I wanna try to push this debate in a new direction, by focusing more on the identity of the Lady in Red. Watching the first 0:55 seconds of the Stormblood teaser again, I imagined that she may not have been much different from K'lyhia in the Arcanist quest line.
ACN story spoilers, anyone who might be new to FFXIV:
To get closer to Doesmaga, K'lyhia donned a borrowed outfit, which belonged to one of the performers of Costa del Sol. IIRC, she posed as a dancer (not relating to what we see in the SB trailer), or a courtesan of some kind, and even put on an act.
Suppose that the Lady in Red could have been doing just that in Ala Mhigo, while 2.0 thru 3.4 was going on here on our side of the continent. She could very well be a Monk who is witty and tactical like K'lyhia, donning the outfit of a dancer or courtesan to get closer to an enemy.
If she is truly a DNC, in the story or otherwise, I don't think we have to worry about similarities in fighting style. After all, look at the Ninja. Ninjas are typically martial artists, yet the NIN fights nothing like the MNK. I believe SE could pull that off with the DNC.
