Actually I just realised, will we be able to turn 'Dated' gear into materia like other gearo or are they not being given this option?
From what I understood, the only recipes that will overlap are the ones in which one of the ingredients is being removed.
What's happening with jewellery if nuggets are being removed? I don't see new recipes for rings and earrings.
Not sure of this has been mentioned before but here goes.
SE's "metal" recipes are listed from low to high like this:
Bronze
Iron
Steel
Mythril
Cobalt
Ok, with that since we already know that it goes Bronze > Iron > Steel, then we can assume that Mythril comes after Steel and Cobalt comes after Mythril, making Cobalt the highest grade metal available. (or so I'll assume for now).
In the new recipes they have Steel Celata and Cobalt Celata.
If Bronze Celata is R38, Iron is 48 we can assume that Steel will be R58 and Cobalt should be 68 (since there is no mythril, I'm putting Cobalt in its place)
Another example:
Coper Barbut: R13
Bronze Barbut: R23
Iron Barbut: R33
Visored Barbut: R43
Steel, Mythril AND Cobalt Barbuts are in the new recipes, so where will they go?
If we use the assumption made earlier wouldn't it be
Steel Barbut: 53
Mythril Barbut: 63
Cobalt Barbut: 73
I find this interesting, since can easily just make them all under R50 but limit them to certain classes and ranks like for example a Cobalt Barbut will only be wearable by GLA R50.
has there been a level cap increase notice? or will they fit the new mats between currently existing ones?
Pardon me if this has been already addressed.
Well either they mention items that are currently unmakeable, but will one day be, which is possible. Or it means they are throwinging away a level cap increase for the forseeable future, and have decided to make what was once planned to be higher level gear, into max level gear.
essentially turning higher level gear into lower level gear because they kept us at cap way longer than they initially planned, and are not intending a cap raise, but want to use some of the gear they had already designed long ago so it doesnt seem like we arent getting any variety in gear
I tend to beleive the latter, because they are designing an increasing amount of content with a level 50 cap in mind. They are calling a lot of things endgame activities now. They are going to have more people investing in level cap gear with materia, looks like some skills that were supposed to be for higher level classes will probably become job skills (like the bard spells/effects already in the dats)
I think overall its a sign that they are probably going to hold on to this cap for awhile, at the very least till ps3 release, which is probably a good 9 months away at least.
