My friend was called a jerky elitist and snobby for simply asking a tank why he was wearing level 60 tome gear in a level 70 dungeon.
And then the tank rage quit after being asked why he didn't just do his level 70 class quest. lol

Leveling my AST... CopperBell Mines... Again...
Level 18 Gladiator. Pugilist 18. Arcanist 17.
Tank pull EVERYTHING after the first elevator. When he stop i keep him alive for... like 20 secs. And we all die. Ok, happen. I tell him that we have no AOE and it's useless to pull so much. Only have a "mimimi you'r the one useless"
And then, he leave.
A little while ago when the ddos attacks were at their worst, I was running Rabanastre. Everything was going well until the last boss. In the middle of the fight the entire alliance froze and everyone had a dc symbol. Then a couple seconds later...24 chickens!
That was obviously a wipe, but it had everyone laughing at least.
It's a minor gripe but whatever.
RDM. Ran Emanation to help a friend work through the MSQ. It's not the easiest of trials but it certainly isn't difficult. Somehow we landed a legitimately retarded party. Not knowing mechanics is one thing, stacking the cross AOEs on top of other players is a whole other kind of special.
Spamming Raise and Lucid Dreaming I ended up raising people seven times, including both healers, one of whom I raised twice, and the same tank three times - who would thereafter sit idle for 10 seconds before he realized he was up and got back into the fight, at which point he didn't use any CDs or bother to move away from AOEs. Whatever. I did this while maintaining a respectable amount of DPS and keeping my MP up.
Didn't get a single comm.
Edit: It happened again. What is peoples' problem with the cross AOE mechanic? Just don't stack it on other people, and don't run around with it like a retard making everyone else interrupt their rotations to try and avoid it.

Got Bardams Mettle today on my Drg for leveling roulette before getting off as it was the last one I needed, I noticed that the Mch had some reaaaally low HP I look over and he's got Weathered Gloam Accessories (ilvl 100) and an ilvl 180 weapon and the rest of his gear is 2 pieces of lvl 60 Shire gear and some Neverreap/Fractal gear. I just logged off that was enough of FFXIV for one day.
Was running an experiment with a brand new alt Marauder (just doing normal sprout stuff, hoping to learn how other FCs recruit players) and queued into Satasha with a WHM, a THM, and a LNC. What bothered me a lot about the run was the THM constantly casting blizzard, then a thunder, then back to blizzard – occasionally he would throw out a fire. But given that this was Satasha and he was a sprout, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Just as I was about to pipe up and try to help him, the WHM, who is also a regular player in sprout disguise, asks the THM if he had lucid dreaming.
I’m pretty sure I’m not crazy, but even though I barely have a THM leveled, I am pretty sure that they don’t need lucid dreaming for MP purposes unless the player doesn’t know the job. I could be wrong, but you throw out your fire spells, then go into umbral ice mode to restore MP, then switch back.
Right? Because if not, me and that WHM got into that spat for nothing.
Correct, blm does not need lucid dreaming unless they completely botch their rotation and somehow land below the mp for blizzard with no effect up. It can happen, but you have to be really bad to the point of almost trying. It doesn't give enough MP regen to amount to another attack during the fire stance. Umbral ice is basically intended to be a rapid refill, so Blm should actually be able to transfer MP to the healer every time mana shift is off cooldown.
But usually it's never worth the spat. Too many people derping in roulettes to ever make a difference.
Unless I just went full on stupid-mode, Lucid Dreaming also reduces Emnity. I doubt the THM was pulling aggro on anything, but...?
Ok, thanks. I wasn't entirely sure because it's been forever since I touched that class. The spat maybe lasted at most, 8 sentences. I stopped because I didn't want the other sprouts to think that this is how the community is over something so simple. That and he was new...unfortunately, I forgot to tell him his ideal rotation.
Prior to 70 you're not putting out that much burst. At 70, if you lead in with a pair of fouls and then triplecast flares, you can pull aggro, but not much outside of that. If you need both at any level, your tank is bad and is probably using single target crap on an aoe pull.
I didn't say anything about triplecasting flares on a boss fight.
And it is possible to land below the MP for blizzard with no effect - although hard to do, as I said in the post.
It's almost as if you're intentionally misreading what I said, just so you can find fault with it.
And Source??? Give me a break. This isn't Yahoo Answers.
If we've proven anything here it's that the best way to get your question answered is not to ask one question, but to give a different answer.
People wouldn't take the time to answer it themselves will jump all over the chance to correct someone who did.
The focus of the thread isn't about looking the smartest, so let's not derail it by being petty.
Like they say in Frozen, snowflake, it's time to Let It Go.
You mixed up their enmity effects. Also, if a BLM drops below the required MP for Blizzard, which is impossible unless they're in Astral Fire, they can use the level 4 skill of Transpose to get an Umbral Ice stack, then wait 3 seconds for MP regen.
Source: Am an actual BLM main.
Also, a BLM who starts a boss fight with triplecast Flares should be slapped upside the head.
Other way round. Lucid halves it, Diversion reduces further enmity gains.
Lucid Dreaming vs Diversion
Didn't realise this was the case. So decided to jump on my BLM, throw on Lucid Dreaming as a role action, go to the striking dummy in my front garden, Flare then Lucid. You're right, Lucid Dreaming doesn't work. Sorry, had to go and see this for myself because I thought for sure it worked and it was only DRK's Darkside that worked in the way you suggested. TIL...
Yeah, Diversion is the one that reduces the threat you generate. Lucid is the one that dumps half the enmity you currently have. Also, im 99% sure Astral Fire completely shuts off all mana regen - even from lucid or a bards refresh. So it would only help with that if you somehow cast down to less then a blizzard cast worth of mp and werent in the fire stance(where you would transpose as Mystery said). Otherwise Kaiva you had it right. Fire spells to damage(ideally with thunder dot ticking), switch(transpose/B3) to ice to regen, then back again. Oh, and no. Its entirely possible they wouldnt have had lucid as an option anyway. It unlocks as a roll action at level 24.
Source: Also main BLM.
Today I got Susano twice in trial roulette (once for myself and then went again with a friend). The first time in Susano I decided to go as my PLD for a quick que and ho boy did I wish I went healer or dps. No one was new yet no one knew mechs. People were dying left and right as if they had never seen the stack mech and I suddenly became the healer. My co-tank was a drk who seem to channel his inner Fray and was constantly raged and telling ppl how to do mechs while doing said mech. I honestly tip my hat off to him. We died bc eventually both healers were dead and Susano had a lot of health left. Try again, this time the dps get their shit together but the two healers still do not understand the meaning of stacking nor that they should be avoiding the puddles. At one time the sch literally revived and no healing was attempted to keep said sch alive as Uikich(sp) began to go off. I clemency once, twice, sch stays alive with less than 500 hp and finally either her co healer ast decided now would be a good time to hit that instant 'oh shit' button they have and cure the healer either that or the sch dumped their lustrates. We eventually make it with my Paladin keeping the healers alive and mostly myself alive.
Second time with Susano went worse. Same issue but I decided to go as drg. No one wanted to stack and no one could avoid puddles. For some odd reason one person ran off with the marker and then this started a trend where everyone else did. My friend was one of the healers and there was nothing they could do as people ran off to their deaths and never running back from the knock backs. I was the only one who used the wall to take the knock back. And even tho I am on drg, not once do I ever lock myself or get hit by anything avoidable. Best of all, my buddy tells the ot to tank the balls. They did not tank the balls. My friend the whm took each ball in the face to save some of the party. Mainly me (i popped blood for blood and second wind cuz I ain't going down easy) the tanks, and my friend survived. We disband after wiping a second time.
Either way, Susano is now my least fave primal to encounter in the df and I hope I don't see his mug for at least another week.
I got Susano for my Trial Roulette twice tonight, too. I'd joined in-prog and got into one that was less than 5m through. Same story, though. Some trouble stacking, people not getting out of the bad and healers not keeping up with heals/constantly dropping like flies, etc. I tried to keep MT and others healed/rezzed on RDM, but I eventually went OOM. 2-3 times. At some point someone asked the healer to LB3 but not a peep. It's not the first time I've seen someone shout for a healer LB3 and the healer either not respond or inform the PT they don't have their LB button slotted. We wiped twice, I think, before the party disbanded. I'd offered to try coming back on my AST after one of the healers bailed but when I queued into it less than 30s later, I found myself alone in the instance. Lawls. Fast-forward to an hour later, I decide to re-queue Trials Roulette... and I notice the same SAM in the original PT is in this one, too.
But she finally got her clear, woo!
- - - Here’s story numero two - - -
When a tank says they’re new to a dungeon, I usually don’t expect them to pull everything under the sun. Regardless, I do expect them to know how to manage their cooldowns and aggro—since that’s part of the job description. Wiped 3 times in Doma Castle before we even made it to the first boss. Wiped once more after we miraculously cleared the first boss. Tank told our pissed and very verbal BLM and the rest of us to “keep up” with him, even after our Noct AST informed him that they were pulling too much. Tank kept on doing it anyway, and by then I was already worn out. Had another near wipe right before second boss, with me having to solo a couple mobs (thankfully I was on RDM). We didn’t even bother after that and just ended up disbanding.
- - - But! - - -
Tonight I hopped into my Alliance roulette and got a 3m in-progress instance. I find out it’s Dun Scaith and the MT had dc’d, which resulted in a wipe (for whatever reason) and that led most of the raid to rage quit or something. Woo boy. A couple of us sat there for almost 10-15m watching people come and go, but we somehow filled most of the parties. An old friend of mine coincidentally plopped into one of the other PTs, which was a welcome surprise.
Turns out that would be one of the most pleasant and solid runs I’ve ever experienced in Dun Scaith. Tanks and healers were on point, DPS was fantastic, etc. So! Thank you guys for being patient and getting through it!
Set up a party finder for a first clear of Lakshmi Ex. Clearly specified that this was a First Clear and that beginners to the duty were welcome as a result. Still have a whole load of people rage quit when we died twice in five minutes, saying that we 'had no idea what we were doing' and that they didn't want to waste their time. No kidding, Sherlock, it was a first time clear! We all watched a video, but there's only so much you can learn from watching a tutorial.
Needless to say, we set up a second party finder, the next group were more accommodating, and we passed it first time.
This might have been a question of misunderstanding the description. Based on my experience, a "clear" party in party finder means that everyone knows the fight 100% and has experienced it - they just haven't cleared it yet. So if I'm joining a clear party, this is what I'm expecting from it (definitely not people struggling with phase 1 mechanics). On the other hand, a "practice" party generally means people know the fight but aren't 100% confident with the mechanics, and need to practice them, either from beginning of the fight or from certain phase onwards. I don't know if this is a common way of naming PF groups in other data centres though, my experience is based on Phoenix server and Chaos data centre.
If I would create a group like you aimed to, I would write something like "Practice from beginning, but hoping to get the clear in the end! No experience needed but please have watched a guide." The more clearly you describe your expectations the likely you are to get a group that responds to them. :)
Went in as DRK to stone vigil. DRG runs ahead to aggro on the second pull. Ask if he is gonna continue and he says yes if I'm gonna go slow. Third pull he pulls extra. Before his final attack animation is finished he has run on ahead. Before I can even finish typing "I'm gonna go" I see HP falling.
Felt great to leave. Have other things I can do so I don't care about the penalty. Tanking in this game...istg
Had a DF Levelling Haukke Manor run to forget about yesterday. Queued up with two friends running a SAM and a SUM with me as AST. We get a sprout tank in leveling gear and go ok, we'll take our time and let them set the pace and not put any pressure on them. So they've never been in here before as we even get the new message and we all say Hi/greetings/etc. No response. The tank, a WAR, takes off in a random direction. We patiently wait for them to figure out the only direction they can go and we get to the first set of mobs. Tank walks in and attacks one target and only one target getting hit by the aoes and doesn't stop jumping around as if that will avoid attacks. So aggro is all over the place and I'm tanking two while one of my friends has a third. Luckily its Haukke so death is unlikely. We get through the first pack and I ask if they need help or tips. No response. Two more packs of mobs later and I ask the tank if they could concentrate on grabbing aggro from all the monsters and other helpful tips like alternating strikes between mobs and such to hold aggro and about Overpower. No response. We get to the first boss and they are still hopping around and moving all over the place and not holding aggro at all and then I notice that they are not even using any of their defensive cooldowns. Not a one. I tried to inform them of some of the basic ones they could use and once again surprise, no response. So at this point our SUM pulls out their tank pet and we mow through the dungeon letting the WAR do whatever. On the last boss we take care of the candle mechanics and the mobs and burn things down and leave.
It was sad that even by trying to be nice and helpful and patient with a new player that they did not even respond once or do more than jump around and hit one button over and over again. Not that I think they will ever look on the forums but I feel bad for anyone who get them as a tank in a group.
Had some one be super salty on Leviathan NM, or is it H? The story one. Anyway I haven't done it in awhile. I just remember the shield needed to be quicker than in EX. Well no-one ran for it, so I did and it popped early and we died. She got uppity. Shield came around again. No-one did it. She got uppity again. Took every ounce of will power to not ask why she didn't do it. But I've seen these people before. Getting that upset over something small like Leviathan, it would have just been throwing gas on a camp fire.
Rabanastre. Hashmal.
This is the first time I've seen this. During the second stone balls phase where the stage is divided by lines of fire, one of each member of the other 2 groups found their way to our corner, and they BOTH got targeted for their group's stack-up AoEs.
So we're sitting here in our cozy corner with 3 stack-up AoEs and what happened?
The 2 stragglers went off to separate corners and ate their AoEs. Kudos to them for managing to salvage a bad situation. Yea, no complaints this time. Any result from this situation would've been funny anyway.
Is there really a reason why someone has to put up with uncooperative players when being asked not to pull extra?
In stone vigil of all places?
The irony in all of this is that the dragoon wasted more time by wiping himself via mass pulling than if he had just completed the dgn with the tank normally.
I have one that made me even more against Jump potion.
I ran 50/60 Roulette for my BLM and got Keeper Of The Lake, with a SAM, WHM, and sprout PLD. I didn't mind at first. I've seen a lot of lv60 sprouts before and the tank was completely clad in Shire gears so I figured we'd be fine. Boy, was I ever wrong.
First three mobs, PLD couldn't hold aggro at all. There was no Circle of Scorn, no Shield Lob, no Flash, she just went to melee one mob and ignore the rest, leaving the other members to deal with the stragglers. No sooner than we cleared the mobs, messily, a system chat just popped in chat log:
The PLD just earned the achievement "To Crush Your Enemies I"!
For reminder, it's the achievement you get after you killed ONE HUNDRED enemies.
It was then it finally sunk into me that this PLD bought her level. I tried to let it slide and be helpful by telling her to use Flash. No response, and she continued on to next mobs, with the same result. Worst, the WHM only healed the PLD and himself so I suspected they might be friends. After third pack of mobs encounter with too close to deaths and any attempts to communicate failed, I couldn't bear the thought to continue, so I decided to just eat the penalty and leave then and there. Got my BLM leveled up with FATEs and daily marks afterwards with time to spare before I could run dungeons again.
A run in Dzemael darkhold turned to be quite "fun". I went on my RDM for Khloe entry, landed up in with pld 50+, a sprout 44 whm and something around 45+ ninja.
Up until first boss it was fine, but then the area with frogs started to be fun. The tank pulled the whole first upper area, ran to the back cave - sadly whm regen him/cured him too soon before he aggroed all and died in few seconds. Then tank. Ninja managed to run away, I had aggro on only one mob, so I killed it in the back of the cave and remained alive, waiting for the rest. It was fine, it happens there. The whm got back first, aggroed one more mob on accident, but ran to me, so I managed to kill it before he died. We regrouped, killed the rest of mobs and continued to the next area - but healer was last and a walker frog spotted him. The tank didn't notice I guess, so he pulled the two flying things, ran further to the three mobs before the second boss, and the whm in meantime got killed by the frog he brought back to us. Then tank died. Then ninja. I killed the frog and the rest of the mobs didn't notice me, so I got trapped between two mob groups while waiting for the rest of the party regroup.
Ninja and whm got back quite fast, but tank was nowhere to be seen. He released at the beginning and stood there. And stood there. And stood there. No response, not a single word, obviously waiting to be kicked. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction, even alerted him in the chat if he wants to grief, we will just watch a movie in meantime. After around 15 minutes a pop for a kick appeared, I clicked no, but it passed and the tank was gone (it was a bummer the tank got what he wanted, but I understand the two wanting the dungeon to be over, so yeah). We got a new drk in a second and the rest of the run went smoothly, but the behaviour of the first pld really annoyed me. I mean the healer was a sprout, fresh 44 with gear being meh, and he kind of overpulled for him in the first place. But even though, two wipes are annoying, yes, with them being ultimately the healer's fault for pulling enemies on accident, but c'mon, we were all newbies in this game once :(
I recently tried healing that DD, and that upper frog area gave me a bit of grief, too. Tank pulled a little too much (maybe accidentally), and tried to group everything in one of the dead end caves. Which might've been fine, except to dodge all the aoe, everyone had to keep ducking in and out, causing me to lose line of sight repeatedly. Wiped to that. No major frustrations, but, srsly tanks, can't heal you if I can't see you.
You should have reported the PLD. Refusal to partake like that is reportable and from what I know, gets them put in the Mordian Gaol for a few hours so they can't even craft or gather or anything. They're just locked in there. Then tank would have had a more serious penalty than getting kicked. It's something I'm gonna be doing if I get someone like that. If I don't want to be in the duty, then I'm going to just eat the penalty and be done with it. But that is rare and pretty much only when my body has given out and I need sleep, or I've had an emergency to attend to (occasionally I do it if I get dragged downstairs to eat, because ya know, living with parents and all that).
That is definitely a possibility, but in this case I think it was a really new player who never read any of the information of what their buttons do and probably didn't even know what being a tank was. The jumping around as if the movement would dodge all the attacks and spamming one attack button with none of the defensive buttons or tomahawk or anything used just made me think really new person. Which is why I tried to take the time to talk about specific actions and stuff but nothing not even an emote just random wandering through the dungeon. It could also be someone who doesn't speak English and queued up for it to get a faster pop but as a tank the DF pops immediately anyway. Maybe they were so new they didn't know to look at their chat window?
Anyway, it is not going to stop me from trying to help others. I'm not an expert by any stretch but I know enough to pass on the basics. ^_^
Healing Shinryu ex clear party as WHM. Well, trying to. People are dying to AoEs. I see I'm healing for 9k HPS, my partner AST for 5k. I can't say this so instead I say "I feel like I'm just spamming AoE heals and it's still not enough." AST says "Me too!" Arrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.
Was in POTD last week, had a WAR with me as a PLD, not sure what his status was but I'm 99/99 he was still using the padjal weapon and it was floors 90+ He ran around trying to out aggro me for whatever reason so I let him do it. I said you need to be careful if you're going to tank on these floors, he proceeded to say nothing. I said to the rest of the party give it 5 mins the guy will end up dead. About 10 mins later and a few floors he died. I was laughing hysterically, my dog thought I was dying or something.
Ah, glad to see a new PvP mode hasn't stopped people from being jerks.
Halfway thru a Rival Wings match, someone one my team says in alliance chat "Hey Evermillion how about you heal someone when they're in a mech"
My reaction:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/SpeedyIllu...co-max-1mb.gif
...because YOU CAN'T HEAL THE MECHS.
If you're going to pick a fight with someone, can you at least be correct? Anywho, that's not really what set me off. After someone else in the alliance explained to her that you can't heal mechs, she added "well how about you heal anyone at all?"
https://media.giphy.com/media/13CgyO5UPjAQ0/giphy.gif
Okay, listen up, a healer closeby isn't a license to be stupid. My job is not to be your slave and protect you from your own stupidity. My job as a healer is to simply make sure the enemy doesn't kill you.
If you're hellbent on trying to kill yourself by going to throw yourself into the enemy team with no backup around, I'm not standing around to give them two free kills. You can try and run away with me, but I'm not going to stand there and die because you don't know when to back up. Also, if my party (as in your specific party within the larger alliance) decides to run in entirely different directions, then I'm immediately taking that a license to do my own thing. If you wanna stick together, I'll be there for you, but I'm not chasing you all around the map. I'm going to be where I think I need to be and just heal whoever is around me.
And lastly, it's the first day. The mode is brand new. Chill out.
I wanted to (even told the pld in chat he is going to be reported for this), but then we got the new tank immediately and my spite bubbled down at the end of the dungeon, so when I got out, I kind of didn't felt like bothering with the report anymore. I don't really remember the nick either, tho if I looked at the list of the players I played with last, I may still find him. But I agree, if they don't want to be in the dungeon anymore, just goddamn leave and don't waste other people's time :(
Omega 1. Normal.
So we had at least one new person. This is fine; I welcome new people as long as they try. Oh, but then the fight got rolling, and I got to basically solo heal on Whm in the late hours of the evening when I'm already running on only a few hours of sleep over the couple days prior. What can possibly go wrong here?
People dying instantly to AOEs, including the Sch no less than three times (I lost count). Swiftcast being on cooldown for one Raise I had to hard cast, and then the main tank went INTO DELIVERANCE WHEN I"M HALFWAY DONE CASTING, so the tank died in two hits from the boss (Regen up before the cast began, and Benison was on CD too) right as the Raise went out. Swiftcast coming back in time to raise that War, but the Sch goes down again just before Alte brings everyone's health down to practically nil (which I counter with well-timed Medicas and Indulgence). More people dying to fireballs exploding or people overlapping their levinbolt. Me keeping both tanks up long enough to pop healer LB3 to raise everyone else. The next Charybdis and Roar being fine, except the same War from earlier SOMEHOW dies half a second after Indulgence goes off. The battle finally ending when the Rdm manages a LB1.
And then I lose the one item I went in for - the Chain (for an alt class). The DF for the instance dies for the night after that.
That was the gist of what happened. I may or may not have messed up tenses and whatnot because the experience made me feel like my brain just disintegrated. The comms I got were nice, but good gods... All of that work for basically nothing, and hardly any chance to go back in until probably tomorrow. After the two mores or more of unsuccessful bird farming--literally only one bird dropped in 25 runs of Zurv Ex, and I didn't even get that either--this whole thing just makes me want to set stuff on fire before heading to bed. Apparently it's just not my night for drops.
