VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

Yep, and it's horrifying. Miqo'te just don't look right in a lot of hats, without ear holes. Free the ears SE! Also the tails.. So less capes!

I can't stand playing full on bestial races. I never play them ever in any game. I've literally never played a khajiit or argonian in any of the ES. I just like to play elves and humans mostly, but this game lacks a proper elf race (I don't like to play elezen; too hard to glamour). Heck, I never play short races either. In crpgs and stuff, like DnD, I say NO to gnomes, dwarves, halflings, whatever else! If viera and hrothgar had paws or animal feet in this game, they would also have no handgear or footgear.

Shame Sethrak didn't get added as a playable race in WoW. Might've had me considering if I want to play that game for maybe five seconds longer before ugly laughing myself out the door again.

It does kill me though that like... Idk this is probably just a me thing but Hrothgar just seem so soft and cuddly to me. Like they're beastly in the sense that they have more obvious and defined animal traits than slap ear on head but they're so round and soft and clawless. Idk. They're like giant kittens to me.

Not necessarily a complaint, I get it's a stylistic choice of the game overall for... Almost everyone to be incredibly pretty or cutesy. But man what I wouldn't give to be able to play a female character who's both beautiful and also mature and fierce. I could maybe get that if I played around enough with Roe or Highlander, but I've never been a fan of their animations or most of their options. Because they are! I dont think you meet a single hrothgar that is "mean" without an actual reason for being mean

Magnus? The man is grieving
The bozjan Hrothgars? They're exhausted and fighting for their home land
I dont think radovan and Rostik? They're not really mean, but...abrasive and sarcastic (radovan has his own demons to fight)

But they all have one thing in common; They're all crying about missing their families <3

This scares me a lot. I was going to make a thread talking about how SE has been leaving details aside and how they could fix capes on characters with tails, but seeing how the community here acts when someone criticizes their pet company, I preferred not to waste time.

I actually have a thread I made about tailed races and capes. :)

Personally, I wouldn't want the unique limbs for viera either way. I think they look better in this game. Their feet look particularly weird in the other game.

As they had promised that Vieras and Hrothgars would have exclusive features, they might as well add that as an option. I'd really pay a Fantasia just to switch from feet to paws. But it's like you said, coming from SE, they are quite capable of leaving paws with no option to wear shoes.

I remember a topic like this... I remember writing that to solve the cape problem: just cut them in half, so the tail would pass through the cut.

I'll switch back to Viera once hats extreme is resolved.

Their 'exclusive' features are their unique heads though. :p I think it would be a guarantee there would be no footgear. If they aren't doing earholes for miqo'te, no way do I think would they adjust footwear for that.

I just think they should do less capes. Tons of pieces have capes this expansion. It's awful. They made a couple capes split, but the worst they can do is simply remove the tail. That's one thing I definitely don't want normalized.

I feel like there's a conceptual misunderstanding of what a furry entails. Some people tend to associate them with the cringy, overly cutesy anthropomorphic cartoon animals; meaning that anything that doesn't fit into that mold is automatically discarded by definition.

However, most people in the furry community would disagree with that definition. To them, a furry is nothing more and nothing less than the depiction of an anthropomorphic animal performing activities in a human setting. That would include Minotaurs, Werewolves, and anything else that fits that description. Including Worgens, Taurens, Hrothgars, Khajiit, Argonians (technically considered a scalie), and so on.

I understand the desire to be as far away from those furries we see doing things online that evoke second-hand embarrassment. But, much like every community has it's fair share of bad apples, a few actors do not define the genre as a whole. It would be like denouncing the concepts of weebs within the anime community, while saying you are not one because you only watch Dragonball, Pokemon, and whatever else is considered mainstream.

Still requesting a Hrothgar posture toggle in Aesthetician. We already know the animations exist from cutscenes and emotes. Their model was already rigged using Roegadyn skeleton anyway so it can't be 'that' difficult to do.

Its so so apparent that the devs hate the stupid hunch too bc no mildly important hrothgar npc stands that way, theyre all set to use an emote or cpose to hide the hunch.
Magnus was the only hrothgar who hunched and that was before his development and he stopped drinking and started leading the miners again so yes I would love in 6.2 for the hunch to be a toggle.
"Its more bestial" ok super duper that doesnt matter when hrothgar have nothing else bestial that would require a hunch. They dont run on all fours like Charr or Worgen, they dont have digitigrade feet, theres no reason for a hunch to exist except to hide that hrothgar are retextured roe...but that wont matter either because you and I and GOD KNOWS female hrothgar, like all women, will ve designed to be ootseycutesy waifus and they will thereby lack the hunch, and 1 sex not having a glam ruining hunch is stupid and unfair.

It's good you mentioned Worgen, because upright male Worgen is something people request a lot. The females don't hunch, but can also run on all fours/get on all fours to attack so it's weird.

The race Yoshida himself proclaimed to have wanted since the beginning needs to see some of these Extensive And Unique customizations. Preferably before the next expansion.

No for only worgen, but for all races that suffers from the "savage/wild race must be hunched" issue, way before blizzard gave option for orcs chose their posture. Even GW2 where Charr have lore reasons for that (only shamans from the Fire Legion stand like that and they don't want to look like their old oppressors and demigods believers) and the model torso is a feline one, people request that since day one bc how amazing the arts of non hunched Charr are.

For Hrothgars makes no sense at all being like that not only due the model they uses as base (Roe) but also due the race they are inspired from (FFX Ronso) aren't hunched + lore wise Hrothgars are maybe one of the most civilized and developed races on the entire star. If we use the ridiculous "savage/wild race must be hunched" rule, Miqo'tes should be the ones who have lordosis, for example.

Yknow its funny I saw a guy hoping we'd see Kimahri in game in a future Blue Mage questline or if we go to the New World in 7.0, and thats valid because boy despite visiting Ilsabard, wherein hrothgar are native there is...one...in garlemald...and hes a slave living in a shitty ice tunnel.
But considering how badly they screwed up making Ronso we ain't ever getting Kimahri. And its so upsetting the base lv1 Hrothgar Newbie gear is the stupid trash leather corset it is instead of Kimahris ffx outfit meanwhile Viera get Frans outfit for cosplay straight away like the bias is so much.

Had to Google what Kimahri is but yeah that definitely would've been a cooler outfit. That said tho as someone who's never played any other FF games and didn't find anything about the Fran in FFXIV particularly interesting (other than how hilarious that bike she had - if I'm even remembering right on who that was - looks on pretty much every other race) I'd have preferred a different starter outfit for fem Viera too. The lil fake tail on the chest piece is godawful and the metal pseudo underwear look SO uncomfortable I swap off them ASAP if I ever have need of a throwaway alt for an off server wedding :p

Anyway I'm also not a fan of the hunch, never was in WoW either. All I think when I see it is neck and shoulder pain. x.x

Also, not to out myself as a chronic lurker or anything, but I have read your posts, even the ones from when you were still a Viera. I just wanted to say that I understand where your frustrations are coming from, since it seems like all (or most) hope is lost for Viera and Hrothgar's customization options at this point. I wish I had a game plan, but I really don't.

Lol! A lot of people did think they were being trolled. I knew it wasn't though. Quality has been dropping for awhile now, even prior to Covid, it's what got us these races in the state they were in in the first place!

That's nice to read! Oh, now don't tell anyone, but I still consider myself a viera player. Anything not viera I am playing is just a placeholder. I made and adjusted some viera presets just this morning! I have to fight the urge quite often to switch back to viera.. I still care about viera as a race! Not all hope is lost! Keep giving feedback and hope that SE will finally listen! We want quality, and more headgear options available! See sometimes I can be optimistic! :)

Just don't let SE ever think we are content with this situation of getting low quality hairs, and being left out of headgear (events, premium outfits, iconic pieces, etc.). I hope a lot of these problems can be resolved, so that you can be a Viera again. I was almost tempted to go back to Lalafell (I played one during the free trial), but I can't part with my Viera just yet. :'(

Enjoy viera! It isn't like it was when I played it the most, even if viera shared hairs are of relatively low quality, there are still a few that look good, even that 2b hair can look good. :D I noticed we are on the same world, maybe we will run into each other one of these days! I'll probably be afk though. :eek:

I long for the day I can be a viera and they are actually a FULL race, but I'd take them with some more quality hair options (I'd love a few more racial unique!), and some iconic headpieces made available. Be careful you don't fall into the fantasia trap, you could end up like I did, spending hundreds on fantasias switching back and forth.. Even one fantasia is too much of an incentive for them to not fix them, for that matter!
