oh shit son, I just sussed the whole thing! 3 months of subs from a game this big is a lot of money, people are already packing their bags and saying goodbye to eorzea. this is a final attempt to keep players around and get as much money as possible before everybody leaves.
3 months my left testicle, I've paid for content so unless it happens in the next month, I for one wont be paying my next sub as there's nothing new to pay for.
It's a FC house, not a single player dwelling, you have two options here, be a guild with a large amount of people to divvy the costs or just deal with it and live your virtual life without feeling you "need" this stuff to enjoy yourself and wait until personal housing.
I don't know about you, but you got by just fine before it, why did that suddenly change? God you babies complain about anything these days do you?
The fact of the matter is we are PAYING to enjoy this content, and the vast majority of players will not be able to. Then they have the audacity to say "Oh well if you grind your ass off for another 3 months then you can finally start enjoying this content you paid for!" It's a pathetic and shady way to try and get people to sub longer, and if they don't handle the situation appropriately, many players will be angry enough to leave. I can understand having a grind for Housing, however these prices are ludicrous, and i'm not even on one of the more expensive servers!
I'm glad to see so many players agreeing with using CP instead of gil being the best alternative for land distribution. Many players have contributed with good ideas and reasons why doing it that way would be so much better for the game.
And in the end this is a big test for the dev team. It will show whether they are actually capable and willing to take criticism and to change their plans about the BIG game systems and content if the community has a strong opinion about it, or if they will just soldier on with their mistakes because they think they "know better".
Either way it will be interesting to see how this issue unfolds, because Housing was one of the key features SE based their sales pitch on when trying to convince the players to give the game another chance. And since even Wada-san took an active role in promoting this feature (earning the nickname Housing Ojisan in the process) it's just sad to see so much disappointment about something that was supposed to be a reason for celebration. And even sadder would be if the feature ends up being used only by a small fraction of the FCs in the game months from now.
PS > Also, remember the well intentioned FCs that actually got people Titan and other fights for free just to help, while Merc FCs complained about it? If things remain like this it will just prove that Mercs were just playing as intended by Yoshi-P, since making money is rewarded while playing the game and trying to build a community is not... unless said community is focused on making gil that is.
And that's not even counting the boost this situation will give to RMT.
/sigh
Woo, fellow Balmungians unite! See you in game from time to time Krysta, just running around, like everyone else. We all see the writing on the wall though...it's clear that these are stalling tactics. I thought it was just an issue with the myth lockout, the BC lockout...I had hoped they were going to be few of its kind, but it's not. Once I saw the prices of housing, I was amazed. Between trying to just hurt their more devoted customers the most and just stalling us to pay for the game, I'm a little confused as to what their plan is otherwise.
So basically, Housing isn't actually coming to the game for another 3 months? Why didn't they just say that in the beginning?
Vote for this being the worst MMO design decision of all time here: http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/12...n-of-all-time/
Although, I voted for the SWG NGE myself :P
Hello Everyone, I am in a FC with only 4 Members. We are all real life friends who enjoy FFXIV ARR and this is our stance on the matter.
We believe the pricing is a little high but we aren't upset at it. We actually want a medium or large house (they are just cooler looking). We honestly wont be able to afford one before they add more wards :D . We are very broke but we are working to get up there. We are casual players and like having fun together. I wish we could change our FC name though, a friend just said it so we went with it lol (Mushroom Genocide). It relates to mushroom based mobs (its an old name from Maple Story days).
Anyway, our feelings behind it are basically, we feel its something to work for and come together as a small group and pool our money. We are currently sitting at ~1mill combined. I just want them to add inf. wards or something because we defiantly arent getting one of these wards.
Best of luck to all of you in earning your monies.
I mean its really such a disappointment to me. Please don't hold us back so you can slow the selling of housing. You spent so long making something that i will now never bother to use. woot...
i tried to save cash since patch and got exactly 14k gil , maybe in 3 years i can think about houses, for now its just a disappointment
Apparently they made new forums pertaining to housing. Any ideas on where we should take this discussion to continue it?
Clearly SE favors selling titan runs over FC's working together.
What happened to 85% of housing will come from DOH/DOL?
More instances for more housing at a far more reasonable/obtainable price?
Non-sense, that might incur additional expenditures and already hardware seems more budget side rather than quality, as apparent by many things, one of which being existence of 'position checks' as a legitimate issue.
So yoshi, still waiting on when your going to be honest to your customers.
according to square pricing housing isnt ment to be enjoyed by the majority but only a chosen few who hoarded masses of gil and selling their help , you gotta be lucky to be in the right clan or forget about houses and move on , sad
Yeah, I thought the housing was bad enough, then I found out the CT dungeon is merely a single floor...they made it sound like the Labyrinth would simply be a side dungeon to open up the first ten floors. NOPE. Just the first floor for 6 months...with a terrible loot lockout rule. Beastmen tribe quests? How about some casual grinding content guys, sound good? The new dungeons are so cool and the Ultima fight is amazing...but a lot of the content is pretty questionable, it kinda mars the good stuff. The second I saw the CT lockout rule I almost straight quit right there, but I've spent so much time in Eorzea and love it that it's hard for me to ultimately just quit. I dunno, I'll give this some more time, but I'm feeling less and less hopeful as time goes on.
I am also in a small, family free company of casual players.
We also are sitting around 1 mil.
We also feel that housing is something to work towards.
We also want a medium house because I am a crafter and LOVE furnishings.
However, we are on Durandal.
Your 1 million is worth a crap-ton more than my 1 million.
A medium sized house in a third class plot will run your FC 16,875,000 gil.
A medium sized house in a third class plot will run MY FC 168,750,000
See that extra zero at the end of my pricing? That is not a typo.
Now, look at those prices and THEN come up in here and say that pricing is fine.
A housing forum has been set up. Here is the link to continue up the conversation.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...to-Tell-It.%29
ill start using that forum as soon as housing becomes affordable , so far got nothing to contribute , for voicing my discontent about how the feature has been priced its better to stay here imo
only 92 million more to go and my beach front property paradise (miqo with leaf fan included) is all mine!!!!
it could be 9.2 and it would still never happen!
the inequality is terrible, the cheapest prices from the new servers are about all thats affordable even for the highest priced servers.
My bad, the first link was to a specific thread. Here is the forum link.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/1020-Housing
I've mentioned this before, the scaling of houses is far out of line with the number of members it takes to grind the gil to purchase one, this is not a small issue. Questions have been raised elsewhere about just what benefits, (workshops, crafting stations, etc.), different sized houses will be able to use.
Again this is not a small issue, the predominant subject at the moment is price, for the original ballpark chart estimates of 625mil for large plots on legacy servers, the number of people (assuming they don't belong to the 100 millions club) it will take to grind all this gil simply will "not" fit on even a large lot without looking like a shelter for the homeless.
For 200 million and the number of members that will probably utilize that lot that kind of gil should get them a plot the size of an "entire ward", inb4 someone says this isn't sims3.
Doesn't matter the scaling is way off.
I think 157k views on this thread is an answer to all the "who cares?" posts.
I am sorry, but after seeing the prices for housing in Sargatanas, several of my FC members don't want to play anymore, some are talking about transferring to another server, where housing prices are more attainable, and some have just lost their luster for the game. You say in 3 months the prices will be half. What if in 3 months so is my FC? I don't have a lot of members and less active members. I just don't understand how (even with your research) you can assume that most FC's will be able to afford it in 3 months, have you looked into how many new players have joined certain servers, how many players have left certain servers, how much gil is spent on repairs, teleporting, hiring choco's? Please look again. A lot have left, and fewer have joined. Prices just don't seem very reasonable.
I think we all know that this feature wasn't ready to be supported, so it was rolled out in a way that few people could use it so as not to overload the non-existent resources.
People can complain all they want, but sadly nothing is going to change. The feature isn't ready and won't be supported for a couple more months. They had to say they "met" their goals, now they can say that- regardless of the user experience.
In the meantime, ignore SEs dishonesty, and please look forward to it!
Of course it isn't. It isn't acceptable to use legacy as a scapegoat. It isn't acceptable to mislead current players on pricing. It isn't acceptable to "implement" a feature without it realistically being attainable. It isn't acceptable to mislead potential new players by touting a feature that is not really reasonably attainable.
They might have met some arbitrary metric, but at a great cost to credibility, imo.
I really want to know what the Game Watch interviewer is thinking with all of this. I'm sure he got a lot to say to YoshiP regarding this one...
Walked into Lavender Beds yesterday, the BGM is so nice but not a single house was up on Sargatanas, at least not in the district I was checking (1st)
I understand MMO is a game which requires time to put into but as a Legacy player I've been playing this game for 3 years now... They keep on saying the game just started, while as a programmer (not professional) I fully understand and respect that but they have to know XIV started 3 years ago, not with XIV ARR. Even from XIV ARR there was 3 month to prepare for housing since we all knew that it was coming in 2.1 since Beta days. In the interviews he mentioned if the FC's work hard they should be able to buy S or M sized hour when housing is launched... Where is it? I do unofficial translations of the interviews so I get hyped up while translating, as well as hoped everyone who read those interviews also got hyped up and looking forward to the housing that was to come in 2.1. But right now as it's released and was done in a way most didn't expect my feelings for housing is nothing but sad.
I'm enjoying every other content that was introduced in 2.1 so I have no complaints there but I was really, really, really looking forward to this housing as I was hoping it would help some FC's get more lively and work towards a same goal to make the FC housing really cool and stand out. Right now we can't even do that for couple more months now. We can purchase a S sized land if we wanted to but S size is for 4-5 players... we got over 100 members in the FC, about 30 active... S isn't going to be good... ><
Also on the side note - JP land cost being too high thread was moved to housing section of the forums but it's still going on everyday, every hour.
I am going to quote you on the german forums, if you are fine with it.
Many players there (mostly from Shiva...) do not understand why we have such problems with it and keep telling us how THEY make Gil on THEIR server. They still do not understand that our economy is more or less broken and that we will be at their starting prices in 3 months while they are on the half of it or maybe already were able to purchase land. Also we have to keep listening to them calling us 1.0 players "whiners" and that we should work for it too. (Sidenote: All of us there do not have a problem with working for it!)
/sigh
It is so disappointing. They can't discuss properly without the attempt of trolling but that is a problem with the german community here...
SE trolled at us and a lot, their housing system is pathetic, and they destroyed in one single day what people was waiting. Is a bit disappointing cause was trusting on Yoshida and his group.
daily bump of justice
I saw pics of small house that a FC purchased. Looks like just one floor and one room. :( Is this correct? If so I'm NOT going to waste my Gil on it even if our FC can't afford a medium house (yet).
That's another issue. SE hasn't released any information about FC housing yet. No floor plans, # of floors, square footage. No info about if there are any options. What buffs or benefits do FCs get? I can understand if some things aren't released yet (chocobo raising, group crafting, whatever), but surely they would like to show people what their hundreds of millions of gil is going to buy?
Anyway, threads were started specifically to ask SE for answers stuff about small plots and tangible benefits now. It's in the Housing forum section. I'm sure there will be more questions and issues raised there, too.
oh really? Then what's this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR1_Jbn37lw&hd=1
That is a player released video, not official information from SE. Yes, it does show the size and layout of the style of house that FC picked.
What we'd like to know is if we will be locked out of any future features tied to housing based on the size of land we *purchase* (in stars because not many of us are going to be doing any purchasing.)
If they release crafting workshops, airship building workrooms and chocobo raising, will these be limited to large, or large and medium sized houses. That's some of the information we're looking for from SE.
