And as Alphinaud said, he was way too optimistic about all of this, that his ideas could make everything better, when really he was just a pawn in someone else's game. So really, it was never going to work. Maybe another attempt in the future with the mistakes made now to help keep it together, but that'll be a long while if at all.

It's still the same problem:
The (small - Uldah is not THAT big, how many Brass Blades are there in total? 1000? 2000? 5000? You can't have such a city state with 20-50% soldiers) known as corrupt legion of known as corrupt oligarchs were suddenly the only guards in the city, together with foreign mercenaries and all this at a time, where it was clear, that those oligarchs will do EVERYTHING to stay in power.

Okay, maybe it all was like you said, but that would mean that the Sultana, Raubahn and everyone else were ***** idiots. Okay, well, the main story just proved that anyway. Everyone thought, that nothing would happen, and now she's (very likely) dead. And if it was a plan of the Sultana to fake her death, it would have been a nefarious move to drag us into this.

Of course they would. Those people even planed to ally with the empire once. They are known as corrupt. And it is clear, that the plans of the Sultana would cost them most of their power anyway. So killing her was THE solution for their problems. Risk? What risk? If they don't kill her, they lose their power anyway. The Sultana was in danger all the time, but with her plan to give the power to the people of Uldah she was doing the "Kill me"-Dance on a silver plate.

I found another NPC whose lines have changed after the ending, the priest at Sant Adama Ladama's church. He seems to think the Scions are ead.

Ul'dah makes up a third of the forces we rely on to fight the Garlemald Empire. The fights we have been in are small but crucial parts of the whole warfront. Ul'dah isn't that small either.

There were no Immortal Flames in the city cause Raubahn moved them out of the city to free up soldiers to aid Ishgard. This happens in a voice cutscene right at the beginning of 2.55. Raubahn didn't have any idea of what the Sultana had planned so probably didn't see the potential threat looming. The only people she had told was the other two city state leaders and the Player character. Everyone Else was in the dark.

Lets be clear here. We would have had to fight the Brass blades, the Sultansworn and the Crystal Braves. Even if we could beat all three armies with the 8 or 9 allies we had with us at that time, it would make it look like a coup. We would look as guilty as hell and so would Raubahn. Who would lead Ul'dah now? It would look like the whole thing was a move by Raubahn to unlawfully seize power. Worse, the Brass Blades would either be devastated or at best likely disbanded leaving Ul'dah dangerously short on military forces. There would be no one to pay them unless we illegally seized the Monetarists assets which would put the populous up in arms since if we would do it to them they would see their wealth as unsafe.

The whole situation here was that the Monetarists cornered us in such a way that we had no good options. Nothing we could do in that situation would resulted in anything less than a complete disaster except fleeing in the hope we could clear our names at a later date. Going on a rampage would have likely crippled Ul'dah which would have greatly weakened the Eorsean alliance and made us all sitting ducks for the incoming Garlean invasion and while this was happening Ishgard would be struggling in a war we would be too busy to aid them in.

*sigh* It is so annoying, that people are so much focused on slaughter. It is REALLY annoying. Always this "We would have to kill all!"

NO! Why are you always thinking of slaughtering everyone? What is wrong with you all? IF we would have fought, then simply against Ilberd and Lolo and this would have been over quickly. No fighting against the Brass, Crystals or the Sultansworn-be-gone, who obviously gave a shit on the Sultana the whole time, they simply did not exist at all out of sudden.

The Monetarists did exactly nothing to corner us. They killed the Sultana and said, we did it. Wow. And we run away. THAT cornered us. Nothing else.

Killing Lolo would be a good solution. No one left to accuse us.

Or simply staying and laughing at the Trial.

But no, we did what they wanted. We looked guilty. Good job.

It's by the way absurd to say, that there are no flames in the Capitol of the city. Probably 90% of the people live in Uldah "City". Without the flames it would be pretty defenseless and all know, that you can't trust the Brass Blades.

I also don't see a reason, why the Sultana shouldn't have said Raubahn anything at all. Just because there is no cutscene about it, does not mean she didn't. And if she really did not tell anything: why?!

May look like a coup? It IS a coup. And we made it possible by simply fleeing. What kind of coup shall this be? The coup was killing the Sultana, not getting her murderers. Sultana dead, Lolo dead, blaming the murder on Lolo - who would not believe this? And after this, to honor the Sultana, her plan for a republic could become true.

No, what we did was the worst possible. We ran away, what means, we are guilty and now the coup was a success. What could have been worse?

There's no way Lolorito would be that easy to kill. While he probably isn't a capable combatant he had us surrounded with guards - including Ilberd, who just cut off Raubahn's arm like it was nothing - most of whom were probably fanatically loyal to him (or his coin). While the rank-and-file we meet on the streets are either "just following orders" and so turn a blind eye to you or outright sympathetic to your plight and acknowledge your innocence, the guards in the royal chambers and palace were out to imprison or detain you no matter what it took. Resisting arrest would just make us look even more guilty, and probably gotten innocents killed in the crossfire. It could have sparked the Ul'dah powder keg into civil war easily.

Pretty much anything else we could have done would have led to civil war. Hells, the only reason that's not yet happened is because information on the incident is being withheld from the public, even though rumors have still gotten out.

Nanamo didn't tell Raubahn about her plan to abdicate the throne and turn Ul'dah into a republic because he probably wouldn't support it.

He was right there. Ilberd was the only one. No mass of guards. End of line.

Oh, the civil war. The civil war. Sure, if you just let the tyrant win, there is no civil war. There is tyranny. - And then comes the civil war. But with much, much, much more blood and death.

Since the whole story is just fiction, this may not happen. If it would be real, it would happen. 100%.

But it's pointless to discuss this. You want to believe it, so you will. That's clear, your whole argumentation only focuses on this. And since it is fiction, the story will evolve just like Square wants, no matter if it makes sense or not. That's the good thing. It would be terrible, if this would be real. this is exactly how immense catastrophes in human history began. Evil people grasp for the power and good people just run away...

Don't forget, we were still tied up when Lololito was in the room. I'm pretty sure he left before we were freed

Because cutscene... And we were not alone. But okay, let's assume it is Super Ilberd, the god slayer, vanquisher of worlds. Even more reason to try to bring him down, NOW. And if we can't then the dark god has won anyway. Who should defeat such a godlike uber being...
