It's all that vocal guy's good job tho...
/daydreaming
and who need thief GO sky pirate! :D
so that's it! class: musketeer <--> job: SKY PIRATE!!!
I look most forward to pretty much what you answered. Crystal tower, housing, and raising chocobo. For gardening, I would like to see some ideas from Harvest Moon series for your home, like in FFXI, you only do it once a day (earth time.)
Oh yeah, I'm hoping for an airship content in the future, maybe instance it or don't instance it.
What am I looking forward to in 2.0?
Housing, choco breeding, exploring the newly designed world, re designing my character (hate that stupid headband) to name a few:p
Hmm... thinking of doodles, what about a Roegadyn bear hug club? XD
Old shcool bosses in FFXIV? I think Chaos and Xdeath would be my choices, both realm jumpers and both badass...
Edit: Character wise i think Tera would fit given the fact of magitek and all... could do a throw back to FFVI (FFIV state side) and face and rescue said Tera. Locke style with moogles in our party...maybe? or am i a big dreamer? you deiced, or add Edgar in to be Cid's right hand man, both use maigtek and both fight old bosses so why not? lol
I'm looking forward to try out the archaist class and buy housing. .hack//gu had a housing like system and since playing it I never seen another game that allowed players to have their own personal instance so this will be exciting. I'm also excited about doing crafting since it seems a lot more fun than 1.0 (or at least more interactive). Another thing I'm looking forward to is the new gamepad UI as it seems so much better than the 1.0 game UI. It is also one of the rare games that have more than one UI so its pretty cool.
Come on, everyone. Let's be splendid! Just because we believe someone is being a big meanie-weanie, that doesn't mean we need to be meanie-weanies back~ (I don't think he meant anything by his latest replies -- I just think we're a little heated from the last go-a-round). Think about this thread! Do we want to risk losing it and all its memories? No we don't! :D
So I say: HAPPY FUN TIME!
^_^ Hello Claus! /hugs
I have a whole chasm worth of things to reply to...SO. HERE. WE. GO!!!!
Ooo, I rather like this idea...yes, that's what I'm knitting!
And now I am listening to the full soundtrack. Thank you, Dhalmel, for sharing one of my favourite songs from the film~
Ooo, I can imagine it now...Nique walking in wearing a WHM kimono and her gang of wood wailers walking in the background behind her ('cause, ya know, the masks)...BUT OF COURSE, a MNK in YELLOW comes in, feeling betrayed...betrayed by four of her friends (The WHM Nique, along with a BLM, PLD, and BRD, to be announced) and her master (Gaius van Baelsar)...and for some reason this MNK has a katana...but we'll get to that story later...
Yes, the yoda to your skywalker, am I. Yeesssssss.
You now I ride. Herh herh herh.
Wait - on your back, am I - eek!
/thud
Oof...but on the ground, while I am, answer some questions, let us. Yeesssssss.:
I had been stalking it for quite some time before I was finally able to play it. I heard all of these awful rumors about the quality of the game; I refused to believe it was true. Finally, near the end of 1.0's run, I purchased a laptop powerful enough to play it on and I did...it was decent, if tedious, but I saw the potential there...and looked forward to ARR. Thankfully, I made it in time to get my Goobbue mount, who I enjoyed riding all up and down La Noscea.
Chocobo Barding! Ma birdie gonna cut you! Housing...crafting and gathering like a crazy Hest ought to do...FISHING...um...EXPLORING...um...HEALING A BUNCH-A-PEOPLE...um...Yeah.
PHEW! All done. I apologize for the sorry state of my grammar. <Please forgive me>
How I got into FFXIV:
I played a little FFXI but I only got up to around level 30 WHM and 16 BLM because I tended to solo and there weren't a lot of solo options back then (I've since heard they're introduced leve-like books that make soloing a breeze but meh, different times I guess). When FFXIV was coming out, it was heavily advertised that you could play with a crafting/gathering class as your main class, and that you could solo as much as you want, and I loved those ideas. I don't really like playing with others because I can't go at my own pace (usually slow, very slow) in groups and I'm very self-conscious about how well I do in a team play environment, preferring to simply chat with others when hanging out in town rather than getting into parties to level up and do boss battles and the like. As such, the idea that you didn't have to be a super powerful combatant to really get at the story and the fact that the game clearly wasn't centred entirely around combat with crafting/gathering classes being main classes, this seemed like the perfect game for me. A lot has changed since September 2010, some for the better, some for the worse (in my opinion). Yoshi has fixed a lot of problems but also drastically changed some things I rather liked. 2.0 will be a mixed bag for me, but I'm an invested crafter and gatherer now so figure I'm in it for the long haul. So long as I can craft the things I've gathered for housing and help out LS/FC mates with said crafting, I'll be happy ^_^
What I most look forward to in 2.0:
Creating housing parts.
Creating an airship.
Filling the crafting and gathering and hunting (yes, even that) logs.
Recreating my mule Rysta as a male Miqo'te.
Getting my gathering luminaries.
Raising/breeding chocobos.
Seeing what new content Yoshi brings out for the crafting/gathering classes.
Trying out Arcanist/Summoner.
Doing tonnes of quests.
Eventually levelling my last combat classes up to get all 50s across the board.
It's very likely that a free-to-pay model would generate more profit, and get more people to try out the game.
Why wouldn't you guys want that?
I'm fine with subscribing, but I personally like F2P.
I'm not a WoW player, but... I think millions of people would disagree that FFXIV is better.
Just saying, your opinion is highly unique.
no offense bro buts hard to make money on something that don't bring money in...the fees we pay, pay the workers and pays for the stuff needed to keep the severs running at max. no fee= no maintenance = no game plus its hard for companies to want to improve games that don't make money. Sure they will get money from sells but once the sales stop...
League of Legends makes tons of money and it's free... and it's not pay to win.
I actually really like F2P models, it brings in more people that would not have tried the game otherwise.
YoshiP has already stated it won't go F2P anytime soon.
from ads maybe...or sells of game cards which people buy for the cool stuff in the game, but i rather not go there. Paying for gear and stuff is the one thing people that play FFXIV and FFXI don't want to do or they would play the other MMOs.
Players here want to earn the best gear from fights and story line quest rather then buy it out right...
im not commenting want i think anymore about that..cos this post is great and got to keep it clean :) ^^
Please ClausL if you want to post about F2P Make your thread. This is Happy fun ... and we know F2P discussion turn into not happy fun.
All people know conversation about F2P , SSM ..always turn into vinigar... so when i see people come here and talk of it ..i can see trolling to close the fun thread -.-
What am I looking forward to in ARR?
Digging into the history of the Twelveswood, of course. I want to munch through all those juice quests that tell us about the creation of the forest, arrivial of the moogles, population by the miqo'te, the rise and fall of Allag and Gelmorra and the foundation of Gridania.
/loremongering
yes fun times ahead!! http://denver.mylittlefacewhen.com/m...ex26o1_500.gif and clausl no hard feelings..heres a cupcake...http://onetapgo.com/japancrisisapp/k...ke-gif-668.gif
I asked my friends if they would ever consider paying for FFXIV and they went like this

You don't have to RP man, its the overarching negativity. Every post you make has been about Nique being a bad person, about how RP'ing is creepy and that 14 is worse than XI. When all you do is spout negativity around no one has to like you.
To answer your question though. No I don't believe that ARR will go free to play. At least, they have my sub, and im not going anywhere.
Things to look forward to in 2.0 in no particular order.
1: Getting back into my character/whm gear. It'll be good to get back. Oh and finally getting Thyrus :> (I'll prob end up going for all the mages AF's eventually.
2: Chocobo breeding/raising. I can't wait to see what they do with this. *crosses fingers*
3: Getting everyone in my shell back into the game.
4: Housing! My two WHM partners and I will prob end up pooling are resources and get the best that we can get(prob not much). (did I ever mention I have my awesome partners in crime? Moggle Mog never saw us coming )
5: Meeting new people. With all these new people coming in, and the server transfers. Im sure im going to meet lots of great new people. Hell, I already have in this thread XD (hope I end up on the same server as some of ya :P)
6: Logs... /obsession
7: New content of course. Can't wait to take on new primals, new dungeons etc
8: Arcanist. When im not a WHM doing dungeons or something i'll prob be leveling Arcanist, because im a sucker for mages(even if I suck at anything but healing)
9: Exploring! I want to go everywhere. In 1.0 I did make it to every Ayetherite. The BS provided quite the challenge! And while im aware I won't have any trouble like that in 2.0(over world mobs being designed for solo) I will still enjoy waltzing into every little spot on the map, just to see whats there.
10: FATE's are pretty cool looking! Things likew the Ifrit in the trailer should make for interesting things to do.
And this is just the start. There is more of course. As you can tell, I am looking forward to ARR. ^^
I think it would be very hard on SE to be able to do that with say the main bosses (kefka/ultimacia etc) But if they did, than I wouldn't complain. As long as they make it makes sense in the game. Lol. I can Imagine some Garlean generals that are basically parodies of past FF end bosses. Like a Garlean gen that looks like a color swapped parody of Kefka, named Kufka or something.
I didn't really call the roleplaying creepy. It was the poetry and stuff that made me kind of uncomfortable.
I have no idea how to RP, but I don't care if you guys do it. I played FFXI for many years, and FFXIV for a while, so I'm pretty used to people RPing their characters non stop lol. ESPECIALLY mithras (miqote) and tarutaru (lalafell).
Well now I am back from work. _-_ worked 9 days straight. finally have a day off tomorrow. What shall I do?
Well I guess I should have been more detailed. I know for a fact that Yoshi-P said there would be bosses from previous games and he wanted to incorporate previous titles into ARR in some way. So my question should have been.
"Which boss(es) and/or characters would you like to see in the Crystal Tower? Fight Basch Von Rotsenberg? Kimari Ronso? Who would challenge Cloud Strife? oh my!"
@ClausL
Civility is key to the betterment of mankind. I appreciate your candor as well as the next man/woman/child. So I will answer your questions.
I do not believe F2P is suitable for this game as it has already cost the company alot of money. Not that money is any real issue. The player base, I'm afraid will drastically change. I feel for worse. I have a "legacy" status on a different game, it then went to F2P and while I still enjoy playing it immensly. All the little Cash shop pop ups and stuff to lure other players into paying out to gain benefits is, how to say it.. Ruins my immersion.
Secondly; Role playing is a key essential in playing any game Post 1990. You play as Link, Master Chief, Ezio Auditore. Your role is whatever it is that they are. Albeit your interactions with npcs is limited to the scope of the game, but in an MMO. You can be almost anyone!. Your story begins when you create your character. While I do not know you per say. We can assume you are a lala and that LNC is your main. Are you a soldier of the resistence turned adventurer? Perhaps a spy for the Garlean army? Maybe you are one of thirteen lalafells looking for the perfect 14th adventurer to help you on your epic quest! No? A farmer then, you found a gunbladespear in your cabbage patch and while it doesn't work. Your interested was piqued and you studied the art of the stab stab to better understand the artifact you found of a time long ago.
Either way, Roleplaying is fun. But like everything else. You get out of it, what you put into it.
That's just it. In order for them to afford a free to play model they will have to continually come up with stupid little content for people to buy. And that will slow down the process of making large expansions and additions to the story. Because nobody's going to pay for something that isn't new, that's why league of legends Releases a new champion every other week.
I don't know about you but I'm just hunky-dory paying $12 a month.
