Bad lag again with NTT's NA server network

Here's my PingPlotter, tracing the IP provided by SE on the lodestone. Hitting 480ms sometimes, meaning the game is completely unplayable (hiding my IP for security measures ofc). You can also check your ping in Task Manager > Performance > Open Resource Monitor (at the bottom) and hit Network tab and then TCP Connections. The actual ping is there.

This shows that it's again NTT.

Not really much SE can do about it honestly as its not their network. I started getting random spikes last month in the middle of raid. Ended up using ping zapper and haven't had any issues since then.

Just saw it jump up tp 700ms, this is reaching pings that could effect a multitude of things let alone just FFXIV players, what are NTT doing.. guess the best we can do is notify SE with the ticket system they made for this issue and try and tell NTT but I have no idea what their contact info is, they seem to hide it.

Installing WARP by Cloudfire seems to have fixed the issue for me, pings back down to 145 from 700

Yeah as below, this doesn't work, lowers ping to 150MS but the traffic is still terrible

Warp is a bandaid fix at best, as I remember for some it just later caused disconnects (and for me it only fixes the ping of the lobby IP not the actual in game IP), however you should still be sending in your tracert's to SE using the form they supplied last year even if they don't really look at those anymore lol

Good shout, I forgot this was a thing as I'm in the UK and this hasn't been a problem until the last 2 weeks, and only today has it gotten this rediculous

WARP has droped it from 600 to 300, but still twice as much as it should be for me.

EDIT: Yeah... this lowers my ping down to 150 but the game is still unplayable, I need to launch Mudfish VPN to get it to actually be playable

Similar experience here with BT Broadband in the UK.
Used to get 150-160ms from here to the NA data center, now experiencing upwards of 600ms regularly.

I'm having the same problem as many others here, playing on US servers from the UK.
The only way I found to bypass this whenever this happens is to VPN somewhere within the US.
My normal ping is 144-150ms otherwise when it's fine.

Just to add that I also experience these very same issues right now.
Connecting from the UK to NA DC, usually around 120-150, now suddenly up to 500.
When I connect to a US VPN, the issue is resolved and I‘m back to 150ms, but I would rather not want to pay for a monthly VPN and a monthly sub. :)

I've also been having similar issues the past few days, not seeing any real pattern with it on my end but it only happens for ffxiv

Tried WARP by Cloudflare, the ping is still in 500 ms so it didn't do anything for me.

EDIT: I downloaded Proton VPN and it seems to be working just fine, my ping dropped to 160ms (as it should be). Requires having an account though, but it's worth it.

Just wanted to chime in also to say I've been experiencing the same thing
Also EU to NA and have been fine at 150ms until it's been spiking at around 600ms consistently the past few days.

Sadly I can also say that I'm having the same problem :l
Connecting from EU to NA, always had around 170 to 190ms but now it seems to be around 400ms at all times.

Also have high ping on NA playing from EU - every single input and action has a visible 1 second delay in game that was not there 2 days ago.

Wondering if there might be a connection between the ISP we are using and from which region we are.

Don't think it's ISPs this time, I play from Norway and some buddies play from non-UK areas.

Been having this trouble for about a week, NTT server in France causing a huge ping delay trying to connect from UK to NA datacenter. I hope it can be corrected or rerouted soon, as the lag is preventing me from playing the game in any meaningful way, and I would like to participate in the moogletome event.

It's time for NA peeps to wake up, meaning connection starts to worsen. I've been up since about 8 AM BST, and I have a graph of the past 6 hours online. It's about 30 minutes away (as of the time I'm typing this) for daily reset to give non-EU people some perspective.

Yes, my ping is really high right now. The problem hadn't been happening very much for a while, but now it's happening again. I avoid an AoE ages in advance and somehow still get hit by it. Whenever I get this issue, the trace always shows it is due to an ISP right next to the server.

The solution shouldn't be for all players to get a VPN. Perhaps SE could create their own proxy server network that navigates around this problematic ISP and then we all connect to that.

NA player from the UK here -- I've noticed this issue about 2 to 3 days ago during a Frontline match which is now unplayable due to action delays. Even switching gear set has a second or two delay, it's ridiculous. I mean, I can play on my EU alt where everything runs fine in the meantime but I'd rather play on my main.

So yeah, I hope this issue will be resolved very soon because playing on NA right now is no good (unless I want to do nothing but AFK) and that makes me sad.

Been doing some tests with WARP, and though it may say it's bringing my ping down to 150, the actual noticable delay appears to be the exact same with it off, which is weird, a ping of 150 and a ping of 700 should be a massive difference.

Further tests might show that attack delay might be a tiny bit better with it on, but still not the same as a real 150 ping, band aid fix indeed.

Yeah, I noticed exactly this, Ping drops, but performance itself is still crap. I've only noticed an improvement from installing a VPN like Mudfish or WTFast

also remember a hurricane recently went through the area and surrounding area. who knows what minor/major infrastructure damage may be out there affecting things as well.

Might as well add me and my wife to this thread. Both in UK playing on NA servers. Lots of lag on actions/retainers/gear changes/crafting macros. I'm on PS5 shes on PC, she just got 495 ping on a test

This has also been happening to me for the last couple of days, there is normally some degree of lag for me, but the latency is so bad now that I suffer huge input delay when interacting with things, summon a mount, or it causes combos drop in combat.
I'm also playing on NA from the UK.

Which for some unknown reason the NA data centre IP address they provide gives normal ping data in the trace route, but the IP address I get from resource monitor gives higher pings on the exact same route.

Might as well throw my report in here as well. I've submitted an actual ping/packet loss report to SE. I play on Balmung Crystal from the UK. Have done for the past couple of years and this is the first time I've encountered any amount of unplayable levels of ping. My average is usually between 150-160, however my ping to Crystal, Aether and Dynamis all have the same 450+ ping being experienced from pings to their server IP, and in game on Crystal where I play. However, for me my ping to Primal is showing the expected 150-160 average. Comparing the trace routes, the hop where the ping skyrockets for the 3 servers vs Primal... Is the same IP and address name. The only difference between the trace routes is the final server IP. All the rest is the same route which doesn't make sense to me why Primal is not also experiencing the lag issue, and vice versa. This is extremely annoying as this is now continuing into the 10 year ANV event, and the game is fundamentally unplayable (being unable to even single weave comfortably, and don't get me started on mudras). This has been constant for the past few days now.

Playing on Crystal from Belgium, usually ping is around 180-200 ms, obviously not ideal but manageable, past couple of days it has been mostly around 450-500 ms. Thursday raid was a mess.

This makes it very hard to do anything at a decent level, e.g. pressing Swiftcast then Revive often has me hardcasting Revive and the Swiftcast buff being applied later.

Using Mudfish takes me down to 160-180 ms, which helps in this trying time. Though I should not need to.

In the UK and having same issues on BT connecting to US servers. Also tracert'd it to NTT. I've contacted SE customer support but I don't realistically know what the chances are of this being fixed, but the game is basically unplayable for me as it is.

I encourage everyone to follow this and bombard SE with this on that link so it gets their attention faster.

This 10 year anniversary event is so realistic! They've even managed to replicate internet connection issues from launch!

(Origional issue was ISP traffic management, this isn't lol)

well this morning it seemd it was fixed but now the Ping when up again, making it hard to do any content.

This should be fixed quickly from either party.

yeah pretty sure for once this isn't an ISP issue OR a userside connection issue.

its a general EU players on NA issue.

out of our hands until it either fixes itself or square finds a fix.

I wouldn't be suggesting people buy VPN subscriptions and shit, this rodeo has happened before always ends up fixing itself.

I'd rather it be fixed while this event is still active than wait for it to fix itself because who knows how long that'd take. Also, since this is a EU players on NA issue, I wonder if it they will see it as a priority to fix when they could simply tell us to play on EU instead (which would be awful!).

I was hoping I would be able to earn Mog Tomes via the Lv.81+ dungeons through the use of Trusts but nope, got do it with players and I ain't going to do that with this much delay. :(

Also, I see VPN is being spouted as a solution. Fine if you want to use it but I don't want to pay for something that wasn't necessary before this issue happened.

If cross region data centre travel happens it would be a godsend for times like these, could just pop your character over to EU for a couple of weeks.

And we know they could do it anytime, they just fear the backlash on different Regional behavior, aka jp People playing with NA/EU, but i think most NA and EU wann aplay together anyways and avoid JP Servers usually. the Biggest winners in this will be OCE anyways.
