We don't need to imagine that, we been experiencing that.
Between this thread and the "Hrothgar Haircuts Are Really Bad" thread, we have over 300 pages of action here, and not so much as a mention in the live letter.
Square Enix saving me money by giving me less reason to buy cash shop outfits lmao
The cash shop items was just a big slap in the face. You mean to tell me they worked on those cash shop items. Had 6+ months to develop them knowing that certain pieces were not compatible with certain races.
If you are going to take the time to create new items on the mogstation the very least you can do is put some effort into making them wearable on all races.
No it's a lot more like, they've been sat around for 3 years knowing people want to wear hats on these races, and they didn't even bother to make the "new" hairs have the necessary deforms to make them compatible with head gear,
showing 0 signs of willingness to fix the hair, without which no matter how much time they spend on a new item, if it has hair it just won't work for them.
The smart idea would be to start working on all the base hairs to include this missing feature, and give them new hairs after, otherwise they'll have to revisit more hair later on.. ( but I think it's a fair assumption that they won't at all. )
hoping and praying and chanting and sacrificing orphans to the dark gods ia ia that hrothgar and viera (mostly hrothgar cuz they've actually made an effort with vieras last updates) get something worth our sub fees in 6.2 because its honestly insane.
Why do people continually defend them keaving two player races in delta development? Swear this fanbase lives on a "I got mine, Jack" mentality.
seeing this, I wonder how many people started playing the game as viera or hrothgar, unaware of the restrictions, and ended up getting frustrated.
A friend of mine started out as a highlander but bought the game after 1 week. Even though I warned him about the restrictions, he created a hrothgar. After witnessing the disregard for the race, he ended up using a fantasia to become an Au'ra. He says that if SE stops this stupidity, he goes back to hrothgar, as he finds all races in the game "human with pet ears"
Both of my younger brothers got into this game shortly after ShB released. Myself, my best friend, and my 2 younger brothers al became hrothgar, but after a month, both of my brothers switched off because they lacked customization
The vicious cycle continues for hrothgar since Vieras are more widely popular than hrothgar
>SE doesn't wanna fix Hrothgar and sink resources because playerbase is low
>Playerbase is low because SE doesn't want to fix hrothgar and sink resources into them
>Rinse and repeat
The same people who spout the "wElL yOu KnEw ThEy WoUlD bE lImItEd! PLaY aNoThEr RaCe ThEn!!!1!!1!1"
Sometimes they're brave enough to show their ugly heads in these V/H threads, but they're mainly on twitter and reddit
It's quite deceptive. The cgi version has claws and comes in a color that Hrothgar don't have in the CC
https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/20855...1560225431.png
You can actually get those claws...just...its tied to an item instead of being in the CC which...is very weird and dumb.
So if you want those claws, you wouldnt be able to wear those Gauntlets.
Ah, I thought you meant recently in the past few pages.
Im like "Ive been seeing nothing but condemnation of the Hat thing"
Agreed. For a race thats suppose to be so beastial, they really did skimp out on the beast like attributes...except for that damn hunch. No feet claws at all, their actual claws tied to their race specific glove, their emotes, while charming and shows that Hrothgar are actually gentleman, lack that beast like charm (look at charr. They sleep, stretch, and act like cats). The only "beast type" emotes they have are their pose (*HISSSSSS*) and their dance....which...IDKWTF they're doing and its almost embarrassing to look at....
I wish their idle animations were them twitching their noses, their lookout emote was them moving their ears around to scan the area, their doze emote was them lying down and curling up like a cat....there are so many things I wish Hrothgar had gotten, but didn't T_T
Even the NPCs dont display this...they're actually large cat men who cry about missing their families and one of them likes to make you and your friends soup
Seriously? I literally said to give feedback to the devs for that.

Exactly this. They don't seem to be showing any sign of going back on their initial intent of not giving them hats. I said this in more detail in a post of mine in the actual outfit thread, they could probably spend some time and make hat hair, and/or make more hats available, but they really seem to just not want to do it. I'm sure they are well aware these players want hats to be shown.
That's what happened with a lot of female viera and hrothgar players during launch (myself included). It isn't until a little later, that they realize the extent of the limitations of these races and then decide to switch off, disappointed. It happened with male viera players too, they had to have known of the limitations before but played the race anyway.
I don't think that's really why. I think it's very simple. They just don't want to sink resources. Period.
As a fan of big cat bois (thanks, Housamo), I am pretty disappointed by the treatment of Hrothgar in FFXIV by SE.
Also, all of this talk about beastly characteristics (or lack thereof) made me realize how "human" FFXIV Viera look. I actually like the "monster feet" they had from previous games, but I understand that would complicate things in this particular game, where you can play a Viera and change their clothes.
in fact, it wouldn't be that complicated. Most boots already have heels, and the rest would have to be a bit of work to adapt existing shoes.
Nothing too complicated, we have examples of MMORPGs smaller than FFXIV that made it happen. Another example of a large MMORPG that manages to do this is WoW, where it has characters with paws, hooves, monstrous feet, and even skeletal ones.
Also, like many other things already mentioned, the community has already made vieras and hrothgars have paws, and adapted a series of shoes for them.
yes, in fact the currently released hair not being adapted for hats is a shot in my heart, and a proof that they are not even trying. But it's like I said before, since they didn't fulfill the previous promises, so I'm going to scream for having at least one race with the same "rights" as the others.
They could add the option of having paws or not. I would buy a fantasia just to change those ridiculous feet into paws as it should have been.

Not one for the look of paws on Hrothgar personally, as then I'd want them to run on all fours like Charr do when a weapon isn't drawn (I love ANET for doing that).
Tbh one thing that kept me away from FFXIV for so long was the lack of a proper non human race. It baffles me when people talks about how "this game is full of furries", when we barely have any due only having a single beast like race that barely anyone plays due being half made.
to be honest, i love bestial races. The further from human, the better for me. But in FFXIV we don't have the option of being anything but a human with animal ears.
Even though the hrothgar is the only option, the fact that he has feet, is hunchbacked, and his emotes demonstrate that they are silly and docile creatures, makes me stay away from the race. I chose Viera for the lore of them being recluses, a more tribal/savage population...
These days I saw on twitter an art of an au'ra with dragon paws. It made me so much wish they were like that.
WoW is a lot more furry than FFXIV, and yet I've seen some brilliant minds argue online that Tauren and Worgen are not furries because they are based on "mythological creatures", lol.
The biggest problem FFXIV had for me in terms of customization, is that every race before Hrothgar was just Humans with added features. Tall human, small human, human with pointy ears, human with cat/bunny ears, bulky human, and so on. I consider Hrothgar the only race to break that mold, but everything in the game is so standardized, they couldn't implement it properly without leaving some critical features out.
FFXIV's competitors really blow the game out of the water in terms of implementing anthro/bestial races.
really ffxiv races before hrothgar/viera was just "lalafels and the rest square doesn't care about" but now that hroths/viera exist those other races forget what it's like to be, well, forgotten about now that they have their own fellow players to look down upon.
That nonsense drives me insane....
If FFXIV had playabe Minotaur and Werewolf characters it would be called a Furry game. WoW has Minotaurs, Werewolves, Pandas, Fennec Foxes and now Were-Dragons, and its still not a furry game.
FFXIV has Nekos, Bunny People, and now a BiPedal Lion Race...and WE get called the Furry game.
Makes no sense.
The difference is that FFXIV is an oriental game where everyone has a cute, jovial and anime face. WoW is more cartoonish, where not everyone will have a cute face. Well, that was before pandas.
Like it or not, this is why most people say FFXIV is a furry game.
Not really, in terms of furry WoW is the ultimate MMO since day one due too many reasons (most I can't post here LOL), just a lot of people are in copium, fakes ignorance or have fear to come out as a furry due the community being well... the WoW community.
That said, FFXIV is way less furry, since most races are nekomimi but they still counts as furries (scalies in case of the Au'ras) even if just a 1-2 out of 10 of the furry scale LOL
Thats a really dumb reason, art style doesn't dictate Furryism.
AnimeFace = Furry. Cartoonish/None AnimeFace =/= Furry
Thats pure nonsense. There is more BiPedal Animal Races in WoW then FFXIV, both in PC and NPCs.
The WoW community is living in denial
((Btw, not aimed at you, just the argument))
