Looks like that should be helpful. (The notes used a sword for their example, but I'll be really glad to get that in the item descriptions for fish, which don't otherwise indicate their level.)

I'm working to gather information on the exact desynth chances in the current patch iteration, and so far have observed the following.

dSkill = rlvl - 43 : 9.8%
dSkill = rlvl - 20 : 42.0
dSkill = rlvl - 19 : 43.4
dSkill = rlvl - 18 : 44.8
dSkill = rlvl - 7 : 60.2

The trend appears to weigh each full point of dSkill at 1.4% until (rlvl -5), when I expect the formula to leap from 63 to 80%.
With exactly 279 LTW desynthesis skill, the chance of success to desynth a Tigerskin Belt of Gathering (rlvl 279) is 70%. Thus, the base chance of success likely depends on the item's rlvl.

At some point, careful desynthesis and materia bonuses were modified. Each point of careful desynthesis (from Tinker's Calm and Bacon Broth) raises the success chance by 3.5%, while every melded materia raises your success rate by 7%.

Currently GSM 303+ and Imperial Jade stuff is hardly worth desynthing anymore. Is it all dungeon drops from here?

Yes dungeon gear is the only option today. SE does have a habit of unlocking Desynthesis at the even patches. Therefore, next week Verity, Deltascape normal and (maybe) Creation gear should become desynthable.

So uh...is Blacksmithing desynthesis just virtually impossible to seriously get past 320 skill? Unlike in ARR and HW, there don't seem to be any housing items even. It's like the only option is Chromite and Susano weapons, which is just insane. Thankfully, I got lucky with a Shinryu weapon and got some Scales, which is awesome, but I want to get my skill higher before I take that risk again.

I've been working on the desynth chances too. From collecting data since the launch of Stormblood I've figured that apparently bonus chance per meld, desynth chance when dskill=rlvl, and rate of increase in chance depend on item rlvl. The amount of increase per dskill seems to double when dskill>rlvl. Not sure about any of the formulas behind these.

Seeing as a fair bit of SB info has been haphazardly added to this thread, yet not incorporated to the front page dropdowns, I would guess not.

is there a way to increase your desynthesis rate? I keep seeing melding what do you mean by that. Do you equip you crafting gear? is that what is being referred to? I am starting to level desythesis but not sure on how to proceed etc.

you can increase your desythesis chance by using items such as Bacon Broth and Tinker's Calm, and since one is a food and the other is a potion, you can stack their effects. Also in gear you're wanting to desynth, melding any kind of materia to it will increase the chance of successful desynth. As for how to proceed, you can follow the guide in the beginning but eventually you can just gauge your progress by looking for the desynth value that is now listed on all items you can break down and go from there compared to what you have built up.

Tried desyn the new Landking ring from yellow gatherer scriptsx100 x20 and only got durium ingot x16, palladium nugget x1 out of 20 tries ; ; (3 botched). Don't think gives you any of the new mats....

I manage to get 2 stormsap from desynthing 10 landking rings.

Sorry to act like a Noob here, but I can’t find Tinker’s Bacon. I find Tinkers Calm and a Bacon Broth. Am I missing something somewhere?

Question about the Alchemist lvl 111 to 120 desynthesis where you indicate using books and burning them. I get it. What materia do I meld to the Grimoire/Codex? Or does it matter when desynthesis?

"Tinker's Bacon" is just kind of a shorthand way of referring to using both Tinker's Calm and Bacon Broth (since in most cases where you want one, you want both).

Why this not being updated ???? ><

technically it doesn't really need to be updated anymore because now items have their desynth level as part of their description. you can just simply follow the numbers to find out what you need to desynth to get your level higher for it.

hey, i'm trying to level a bunch of the crafters. rather than just vender my items i'd like to desynth as much as possible to save crystals and reuse materials. i'm learning now that i can't just desynth whatever because apparently there's an overall cap for your character.

what would people recommend i level up? maybe a better question, are there jobs that i should really avoid getting desynth points in?

the easiest ones to level desynth in are LTW/WVR/GSM. due to the abundance of gear that falls into these categories.

I would avoid CUL (unless you do a crazy amount of fishing) and ALC (relatively few items to desynth). Take your pick from the rest.

I would throw CRP on this list as well. I'm too deep in it to stop now, but there are too few things for it to be worth it. I hear BSM can be expensive as hell too.

Blacksmith desynth can be as easy or hard that you want to make it. It all depends on how much you like running dungeons/primals for stuff to desynth. quite a few classes of weapons are BSM desynthable. plus there are some housing items to get you through some gaps.

I actually enjoyed lvling desynth. It was rewarding going from a low percentage of success and watch it go to a higher percentage once one desynth succeeded.

I feel like the amount of time/effort required to level desynthesis and the returns don't match. Do you have plans to make major changes to the desynth system?

Will be making large changes to Disciples of the Hand and Land-related systems in 5.1. Desynthesis rates will be changed to be 100% guaranteed, no need to level up skills. Desynthesis will be something used when you have a surplus of something. That’s the plan we have in mind. I’ll provide more details on this when we’ve solidified the details.

They gave no further information, but «crashing all its value» is hardly a good reason not to rebalance a mechanic.

I would like them to make leveling more easy and lift the 3 job restriction.
Making it all free for all seems a bit exaggerated.

Its cheaper and easier than actually making it rewarding again.

Mind you I would prefer they made it rewarding again.

The hell are you talking about? If there's a general list of reasons not to change a thing, "making it worthless" would be right up there at the top of it. Not just for this but completely in general.
