Why Does It Feel Like Poor Play Is Acceptable (I'm Venting.)

It’s important to remember, though, that people are allowed to vent when they feel frustrated. There’s nothing wrong with ranting from time to time. I can sympathize a lot with the OP because I have met my fair share of bad/lazy players—and I’m not talking about newbies, but veterans/mentors in endgame content that cannot fulfill the very basics of their roles (e.g., a tank using mitigation for tankbusters in Rabanastre when it’s very obvious they aren’t new to tanking or the instance).

Also, there is absolutely nothing more frustrating than carrying a player, and them walking away with all the loot, be it primal mounts, weapons, or Savage gear that you needed. Better to let off some steam—and for some, that is best done with a healthy little rant; I am a frequently poster in the Tales of the Duty Finder thread—than to just bottle it up if you’re the type who cannot just shrug it off/just not care (and there are a lot of people like that).

I still remember that Ala Mhigo run where I saw the mount drop for the first time, in that 35 minute run with poor dps that took their tank friend with them. I couldn't kick because of it, and I can't request a kick myself, because terms and stuff. Guess who didn't win the mount? Guess which lazy dps got it?

That's probably one reason why this was building up. I don't like seeing the super lazy and refusing to play people getting rewards where I work my butt off trying to make their lack of effort hurt the run less.

nah what really gets under my skin is when one of the dps pulls Susano EX while I'm waiting on another to finish talking, then I sit there and let them die and the one I was waiting to finish talking says stuff like "nice holding threat" but won't address the false accusation when I respond with "hold what? I didn't even pull".

THAT gets right in between my ham slices and spreads vinegar. but I just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it off.

Forgot to say; don't think we think that it's acceptable people play bad. Common sense right here.. just because we are quiet, doesn't mean we are okay with it. In fact most of the people who notice bad play are silent because we either get target as; elitist, making the game as a job, harrass us and say it's their sub not ours, we can screw off because they can play however they want with other people in the group. Happens often but last 2 days I've gotten 2 players who accepted tips and stuff for tanking and I'm honestly sooo happy they listened and in fact have more fun improving their game play, just wish people was like that more often.

I agree. Silence does not equate acceptance. Just means we don’t want to deal with someone calling us elitist for telling them something basic like, “Please use your songs as a BRD; they are a very important part of your core rotation, and you will do more damage when you use them, plus they give the party a 2% passive crit buff” or “Please use a cooldown when the boss is casting [tankbuster] so that you won’t die”. Happens more times than I’ve cared to keep track of, so I just don’t say anything anymore. Doesn’t mean I think it’s okay to play poorly, especially when we’re talking about endgame content (Extremes/Savage/Ultimate).

No, it doesn't mean you think it's okay, but by this forum standarts you might be considered as a bad player, since you don't want to help! jk. Reference to *who do you consider a good player* thread.

I don't understand why people justify laziness as lack of experience tbh, probably they defend themselves. I don't mind new players in group and I help if they ask, but if I see well geared person who just afkmode dpsing\healing\tanking I might consider to kick them cuz I'm sorry, I do my best and I don't want to carry your ass so in the end you roll everything and leave (I mean obvious lazyness ofc). I really wish we had some kind of parser in game.

You run into lots of people of various skill levels when puging. I don't think I've ever had a person so bad that we couldn't finish a DF roulette outside of 24man raids, in which case it was many people. I sense a lot of exaggeration.

I do pretty often. I haven't had a 25-35minute expert roulette in a while but it wouldn't bother me at all to have it happen.

.. That's fine actually. Faster is NICE. But 25 mins with no wipes? I'd be OK with that for DF. We're not talking about people being sub-optimal. We're talking about people being so close to non-contributory as to be just above AFK-ing.
