Either SMN and RDM should lose their Raise or BLM should get a Raise.

One way to solve this would be to allow everyone [as in each DPS. Healers still keep their raise obvs] to use one phoenix down per fight. Who knows, if Blm get a raise then what if every other dps decides they want one too? Where does the ball stop rolling on this? I don't think Blms should have a raise for reasons both related to gameplay and lore but a far simpler solution exists that doesn't require convoluted mechanics or lore restrictions.

The best solution is to accept that not all jobs are the same.

You wouldn't have to stretch quite that far; there's already quite the precedent for Void magic preserving life, and I suspect that BLM will eventually branch further out from fire-and-ice thaumaturgy and model some abilities after Mhachi Void Mages and such. Frankly any magic Job can reasonably be granted some sort of resurrection skill just by virtue of how aether in FFXIV (which seems to double as life force) can do damned near anything in sufficient quantity and with the right technique.

But again, I don't actually want any resurrection for BLM. My only position here is that the lore is inherently broad-reaching and flexible enough to allow for a lot of adjustment without fundamentally altering Job identity.

Frankly, I hope they don't make BLM use Void Magic. It's technically not Black Magic and it's like an insult to what Shatotto has made and done.

considering the amount of dps BLM puts out I still think its a no go. SMN and RDM lack the raw power that BLM has. while I do agree SMN should loose raise due to its destructive nature and gain more dps power I don't see any changes like this in the foreseeable future.

Just putting it out there again...

BLM puts out less DPS than SMN at the moment. The current state of BLM is not some uber god tier DPS, it's a middling DPS. SMN outperforms both RDM and BLM at their respective niche (support and damage).

If anything i think the amount of in combat resurrection in this game needs to go way down not up. I would remove it from SMN altogether and make it once per fight for each healer and RDM (RDM would get a damage increase to roughly match SMN as compensation)

To further put a sword through progression learning via resurrection i would make it unaffected by instant cast mechanics and cost more mana.

So in summary the only raise i want to see for BLM is a big raise in its personal dps to make it the highest damage dealing job in the game when its allowed to constantly turret properly.

The resurrection is not the issue though. You remove it from SMN and there dps and mobility will still be as good as it is now. They would still have the other party buffs they have as well. It is the same as adding a rez ability to BLM will lead to nothing either because a rez is only useful in progression and all healers also have them too. Once you have a fight down it is useless to even have the rez. You are better off looking at ways to improve and change BLM itself then looking to change SMN or RDM.
