White Mage vs Scholar - Why is White Mage lacking?

Looking at how far back the date of the OP post is, I'm kinda surprised this thread is still going.

I really don't need to say anything either, as both positives and negatives of both WHM's and SCH's have been clarified by various posters. So I'll just leave with this: (As in, may not post in this thread again. I'm not much for these kind of threads)

Personally, I prefer playing as SCH over WHM, but I have fun as a WHM too. While running as a SCH, I also generally prefer having Eos out over Selene, unless I end up in a party with 2 SCH's, and the other already has Eos out. People playing as WHM's may question why I have Eos out, but people also question having Selene out. I gave up on trying to please everyone and just stick with Eos as my preferred fairy. Besides, some other WHM's I've worked with appreciate the extra heal support, allowing them an easier time of MP management.

As for the silly hate on WHM's I'm seeing here... I don't get it. WHM is just fine IMO. I've played as WHM enough times to see that WHM's easily have their place in party setups, and are roughly equal to SCH's. Both bring something to the table the other can't, and that's why many people prefer having parties of 1 WHM and 1 SCH. (I personally can't help but smile when the other healer I'm working with is of the opposite class of me)

I also agree with others that the WHM skill Shroud of Saints needs to be touched up on a little. Well, that and Benediction, IMO. SoS should at least be buffed to scale with some stat on how much MP is regenerated per tick when in use, or cut down the cooldown period of the skill by some degree.

By the end of the day, both of them are important, and I personally just find it silly that anyone would insist on claiming that either role is inferior to the other.

And with that, imma think I just steer clear from this thread for now.

I would love to see a SCH or WHM find a point where you have too much MP. I doubt in the current stats we have and can reach it wont happen. More MP just allows more carefree use of Cure II/Adloquium/Medica II/Succor which frankly is rarely ever a bad thing.

A nice. It still needed a fair amount of Mage's Ballad and a few things to note vs. the WHM solo heal is that the WHM solo was much smoother and they wouldn't necessarily have wiped had the fight gone on for 30-60sec longer, it looked like it would've for SCH perspective. Still nice though and they will be among a very small minority that does solo heal T13.

Overhealing has no benefit, and even excessive shielding is wasted after the point at which incoming damage is trivial and/or easily survivable.

So yes, there is such a thing as having too much MP.

The White Mage is fine as it is.

I beg to differ :P With previous popular MP pool meta, the MP for each class would be something like this:
White Mage - 5000 MP with 100 mp/3 seconds recovery or 20000 mp/10 minutes
Scholar - 4300 MP with 86 mp/3 seconds recovery or 17200 mp/10 minutes recovery (mp pool based on crit stacking)

If we assume an encounter lasts 10 minutes:
White Mage gets to use Shroud 4 times effectively, which equals 4240 MP
Scholar gets to use Aetherflow 8 times effectively (1st Aetherflow is most likely excessive MP) 6880 MP

Total would lead to (start mp+ability recovery+natural recovery)
White Mage 5000+4240+20000=29240 MP over a course of 10 minutes
Scholar 4300+6880+17200=28380 MP over a course of 10 minutes

I haven't included Aetherflow in this. Simply because it's near impossible to gauge this. 1 stack of Aetherflow used for Energy drain would equal 266 MP. 27 stacks (including starting 3) of aetherflow would be 7182 MP maximum. If Aetherflow misses, it doesn't recover MP. One could argue that the stack used is worth more than 266 MP for amount of damage mitigated or recovered. But likewise, you could argue it's not worth the 266 mp. There's also the thing that Scholars spend more MP on Adloquium than White Mages on Cure II. Same with succor for it's HP recovery vs cost. Unless it's a physick spamming Scholar, the MP spend vs MP to use of both classes are roughly the same. Problem lies with the gear of choice and general vigilance of the player to keep Shroud/Aetherflow off CD

For shit and giggles, I did a full piety build on my White Mage; a whoppin' 5900 MP pool. I ended T10 fight with 3k MP with some holy spamming on the adds. That's 3k unused MP in the end
