I keep mt alive while we wait for the dead people to be booted out of meteor town, during which time my cohealer dies again, this time to holy aoe during reapers. At this point I'm screaming internally and on basically no mp, but I rez the fc smn as soon as they're targettable and we both become the world's most mp starved rezbots until the lb3 is available. My cohealer uses it immediately, then dies right after to god knows what, so I rez them AGAIN and pray that nobody dies before I can resummon my fairy to immediately eat for aetherflow because you bet your ass I was going through lustrates at a mile a minute.
Anyway, we oneshot, and then I had to sit down for five minutes and contemplate existence. I only got one comm, too.

Weirdest thing just happened lol
I queued mentor roulette on tank and I got a 50 something minute in progress Dun Scaith so I hit commence.
I zone in and try to head to the group but suddenly get a cutscene. I guess they just cleared it lol.
Someone in alliance chat is like "give me comms!" to which someone in the party I just unceremoniously plopped into just to get an immediate clear was like "I'm giving my comm to Miste Vaer".
I was like "but I didn't do anything! D:" and another person in my party says "for showing up".
I left with 4 comms for just plopping into the group a second before they beat last boss lol
People are so silly sometimes lol, but thank you; you guys made me smile and I am sorry I was a bit late to the party and wasn't able to actually help :) -

Queue'd for 50/60 roulette as NIN, so I wait patiently. After the queue finally pops, everyone gets zoned in and I see the new adventurer bonus. But above all else, I look at everyone and notice something. The tank is the only non-lalafell in the group! I immediately said "Tank is babysitting us!" and they finally noticed and was like "Oh, no..."
The run went pretty smoothly while I put out a few "words of encouragement". During one of our exchanges, I say "Are we at the boss yet?" and got a great reply. "One more word, and we're going back." We finally made it to the end, and it turns out the healer was new and died to meteor, followed shortly by the tank. I took up the mantle of tanking, and with the help of my DRPGOON companion, we dropped the boss. I left there with 3 comms and great satisfaction. -

Thank you for not immediately kicking me on O3S when I informed you I hadn't cleared, but have seen enrage. Thank you for trusting me to be a good co-healer. And thank the Twelve that we all stayed together for the only two wipes (not on me, I promise).
But most of all, thank you for getting me my first clear since I started challenging O3S a month ago. Now I can rest easy. Whew...pugging is not the most ideal way, especially when you keep grouping up with folks who claim they know the fight, but either tank the dragon add way too close to Helicarnassus (so you can either choose to eat a ribbit or a frost breath), or bring a stack marker to a green book in the library phase. -

Even though it’s the same three successive patterns, I hate that you can’t control where to drop the thundercloud AOEs. Through the Trials Roulette, I go in with two FC mates (I’m AST, they are WAR and BLM).

I don’t think I’ve seen this many deaths on an Extreme run. My BLM mate has lag, so I can understand him. Not so much my co-healer and the other three DPS. The whirlpools give you enough time to move…so why don’t you move at all when they are up? And my co-healer…I am not entirely sure what they were doing. It got to a point where I was spamming heals, Lucid Dreaming, rez the RDM so he can help me get people up rez the WHM, rez the RDM yet again, top off the PLD for Stormsplitter, AOE heals for Ukehi…etc.
That first run got us to the point where it was literally just me and the two tanks. The second run…we came out with only two downed DPS (yup, the RDM was one of them). I was healing and rezzing so much that I didn’t even have time to draw a second set of cards when we did that 2nd run. I didn’t even stay for comms – I was so irritated.

If you are new to a dungeon, and refuse to say so, you have absolutely no right to be pissed when people who expect you to be able to perform the basic mechanics of the dungeon get annoyed when you can't. It is nobody's responsibility to read your mind and assume you know nothing about the mechanics when the vast majority of dungeons and trials in this game have guides out there on the internet.
If you are new and need mechanics explained, open your bloody mouth and say so. If you stay silent, you have nobody but yourself to blame for your own incompetence. -

About 2 nights ago I did a leveling roulette with a healer in need bonus so I went in. Got Haukke Manor which is an easy dungeon, if I'm patient enough to tolerate the incredibly inefficient party I had. I'll count the things I raised my eyebrow at:
1. Synced down I had 1041 hp on AST. Tank had 1043? (Think he was 29). That's kind of low.
2. Checked tank gear. Some level 17 gear, isn't even wearing shoes at all. Super squishy. Couldn't risk attacking as 2 GCD is enough time for him to die as he also tried pulling big.
3. THM in the group did not cast fire 1, ever. If he did I didn't notice as his mp is always full.
4. Said THM spammed break, drain, and blizzard. Maybe an occasional thunder or rarely fire II (not spammed).
5. Monk, you did good all things considered.
Combining the above I made an inquiry after the first boss about this. Dead silence. After we turned around and dropped down the stairs to kill the mob there, still dead silence. I just left. I don't expect much from duty finder but I at least expect you to be fully geared (shoes are nice) and isnt too far below the level of the dungeon, that and at least have the basic idea of how to play the class (THM). If you have troubles with the class I can help with that. Being absolutely silent while playing the class about as wrongly as you can even after my question does not help (I don't bite).
I don't expect perfection but at least the basic sense of cooperation would be nice. -

Yes, that was taken in the Sirensong Sea. Sure, the rest of the gear was i260, but he was missing hundreds of points of mind with that setup, barely able to keep the tank up through single pulls and running flat on MP every time.
Not a new player either, had multiple classes at 70. -

I'm impressed with people lately... in a bad way.
Story #1: I was leveling SAM and queued up for Sirensong Sea. Got paired with a PLD that, after the ship arrived to the island and pulling the first pack, he said as a form of disclaimer "I'll not do big pulls, I'm undergeared". I check his gear, and he was about ilvl260, 33k. So, WHATEVER MAN! It's gonna be one of these boring ass runs then. The run went extremely slow, he wasn't even gathering the mobs after the second boss. By the time we reach the final boss, the nice fella drops Shield Oath and swaps to Sword Oath. Needless to say, I got aggro because SAM, so I die. The healer, trying to raise me, dies because he didn't dodge anything and didn't heal the magical AoE casted by the boss. This happened when the boss was about to die. The PLD, which apparently spammed Clemency to keep himself alive, finishes the encounter. So, as a form a complaint and before leaving, I told the tank that if he was going to avoid big pulls because he was undergeared, he should at least use Shield Oath for these situations.
Story #2: I queue up again. Same dungeon. I get paired up with a SMN, which was standing still 80% of the time. So I tell him if he would mind to help us out with his DPS. He replies "I'm fixing my hotbars". Throughout all the run. The tank remains silent. The healer states how he was outdpsing him, as he was doing roughly 1k DPS on trash pulls and 500 DPS on boss fights. I was tempted to kick him, but decided to bite the bullet and press on. I spam emotes at him "/throw" "/annoy", to let him know I'm watching his bs. The healer at some point asked him "Did you buy a leveling pot or something?" He didn't say anything. The whole run was slow af. Painful. Extremely. -

Couple hours ago. Trials roulette. I like to run trials because its a decently deep pool of fights to pull from, its usually a quick in and out, and it helps me keep mechanics from dozens of fights somewhere in my mind. Tonight drops in to Susano storymode. Ive never been in a group that couldnt get it down in 1-3 tries, so im not too worried. New player message, but only a couple group members are 53. Im not too worried. Ask if anyone needs to know mechs, no one responds - though the tank did pull a little quickly, so was someone typing? The world will never know. First thing i notice is that the 2nd healer(whm? sch? i forget) wasnt hanging out near the group. They get the first knockback/stack, and sure enough they dont. Boom, dead. Samurai immediately explains that they need to sprint back after that knockback and stack with the rest of us for that. Anytime they arent targetted with it, they fail to get between the waves, and eat the hit/launch. And maybe they have bad lag on their end? Because the raisen kakyo whirlpools are killing them almost every time too.
So that leaves the AST to basically solo-heal the entire fight. However, the AST is stubborn and wont let them stay dead. That healer must have been ressed close to 3 dozen times. However, since they arent able to help(and seem to die as quickly as they get picked back up) the DPS arent getting many resses(AST is mostly only doing them when swift is up and goes for the healer first each time). The dead-heal had a DRG friend along who spent long stretches of the fight laying down and "living" up to the DRG stereotypes. Tanks are doing more or less fine(i didnt notice anything bad), so the fight is an overworked AST, my BLM feeding them mana every time shift is up and doing my best to burn the boss down, and a pair of samurai doing their best(one of them even does the 3 bar limit with like 30% thinking we have the fight won). First pull we go to roughly 15%, but the healer gets trapped in the rock and though we free him the string of unkehi's that follow are too much for him to heal us through. Second pull is similar, and we fail at a similar place. By now the DRG is complaining he's been dead more then alive(implying that he should be ressed over his healer friend? possibly). We agree to hold LB for a potential healer miracle, and half the group makes it clear that this is the last pull before they leave. The start of the fight is smoother(aside from the 2nd healer dying all over the place), we get to about the same point. The unkehi string kills me for the 3rd time(in 3 pulls ive avoided every avoidable hit except for 1 and put no extra deaths on the healer to res). Both Samurai are down too. Theres a second where it looks like the healer wont use the limit(might not get the chance), but he gets it off, we get back up, and we burn off whats left of the boss(though not before that healer can die again). We compliment the AST on a job well done. The "offending parties" leave soon after. And then me and the 2 SAM spend the next several minutes consoling each other until the instance kicks us out.
So to that group - tanks you did fine. You didnt rage out at the people derping it up, you didnt seem to add to the healers stress. Good job. Samurai friends, you already know. We talked. The AST i cant name - you worked your ass off and i hope you got every Comm. I know you got mine. Too bad you had no help. To the DRG and other healer... theres no shame in admitting you need to be told mechanics. We all had to learn these fights at some time. And healer especially, you have the tools to prevent your own deaths most of the time. Use them. -

They were a premade and the DRK was a jump potion user. This was quite literally his first dungeon in FFXIV, or so he claimed. His DPS buddies had clearly spoken to him about pull size because he pulled like a tank who knew what they were doing.
During the double pull after hopping off the ship he doesn't have grit up. Aggro for everything is bouncing all over the place. At one point I use Indom and I swear it was not overheal at all. Everyone remains standing (somehow) but I decide to speak up.
Me: It's cool if you want to pull that big but would you mind using Grit for it? Eos and I would much appreciate it.
DRK: I thought it went okay. Sure tho.

We continue. He throws on Grit after the first boss which he kind of cotanked with the SAM. At this point I also start wondering about this SMN as I haven't had my vision obscured by Bahamut yet.
Since the tank is kind of tanking the trash now I check the SMN out. His gear sesms fine but his DPS rotation is literally like me on SCH... from 3.x. Dots, Bane, Ruin spam, repeat.
I am like suuuuuuper sure this isn't right but as I don't know enough to correctly explain a SMN rotation I don't want to say anything. When his Egi dies during the second boss and he doesn't resummon it even after the fight ends I finally can't hold it in
Me: Hey (SMN) Ifrit-Egi took a dirt nap back there. #ACNproblems, amirite?

SMN: used to Eos healing herself.
So at this point I understand why the SMN's rotation looks like 3.x SCH. He is a SCH main. He just didn't want to heal his jump potion buddy's first run, likely assuming it would be a total dumpster fire which it is.
I resign myself to shutting up through the rest of it. If the SMN was on a class I knew I would give advice but at this point it's better to just keep moving. We get to the mini boss before the end and after the tank initiates I realize he probably doesn't know about stunning the seduce. I don't know if SAM has a stun. I type it into party chat just in time for the DRK to not stun it. Another Indom at 0% overheal.
It was just so tedious and annoying. I actually enjoy new players generally, lots of times they're chatty and open to advice. The DRK kept dropping grit at the worst times and it's only through luck and Eos that no one (but Ifrit-Egi) died.
After the final boss is down the DRK says to me "that was a lot of clutch healing. Just because no one died this time doesn't mean you dont need to be careful. You should try healing in WoW"

Just fyi though in Sirensong SMN won't have Bahamut yet though; you learn to summon him after the level 70 job quest. SMN rotation in there wouldn't be much different from 3.0 since at 62 SMN only learns a trait that gives random Ruin IV procs. Nothing else new yet. -

This one is partially a vent, and partially a request for suggestions. The other week, I went into Bardam’s Mettle as an AST. Did my greetings, because I like to at least be a little social. Soon as I cast Protect, the PLD does the normal mass pulls that I expect here for the first three mobs. I’m in Noct and have no time for DPS. My rotation looks like this, drop Earthly Star, Benefic II, recast shielded Aspected Benefic, Benefic II, Aspected Benefic again, ignite Earthly Star for crit heals, and so on and so on…
Now, when the shield on the tank drops, his HP sinks like a freakin rock. I usually have to weave in an ED when it’s available because what I’m doing isn’t keeping him alive. DPS, a DRG and RDM, are doing single target damage…so that doesn’t help me at all. This is still the first mass pull when all of a sudden, the tank eats a couple of crits and dies on the spot. Of course, I’m next on aggro list and die before my GCD even resets.
Now…as a player, I’m extremely critical of my own performance. If a tank dies, I tend to analyze where I screwed up at. As you may have seen from other stories I’ve shared. Now, the tank only used shield oath to grab and get hate, and then once he had them, he went into Sword Oath. Yes…the tank probably shouldn’t have dropped shield in that particular pull….or maybe he should’ve…I dunno…I quit tanking a while ago when I realized I didn’t know what I was talking about.
I didn’t even get a chance to go with them again. I apologized, said that maybe I’m not popping my heals fast enough, and told the party I wasn’t used to pulling out lightspeed + lagesse on the opening pull. I said it was my fault, and it will not happen again. Didn’t matter…I got vote-kicked in the middle of casting protect.
I know there are healers here who have experienced something similar, so…what did I do wrong? The only time I’ve been vote-kicked was way back in April when I first subscribed, and that was because I didn’t understand what the party meant by turn off the lamps. So yeah…being vote-kicked for the second time in less than a year has me concerned that I’m one of those toxic players that the community has been complaining about. Any suggestions would be great – I do want to be a great healer. -

I just woke up from a nap, and am grumpy face, so I don't say anything at the start of the dungeon like I usually would, but everyone else only says their hellos so I don't feel too bad. The run goes fine. We're a little on the lower side for gear, but both of us are experienced, I've healed this dungeon a ton, and run it as tanks and dps even more. Its a rough dungeon IMO, but I'm not worried, I know what I'm doing. I love the SB leveling dungeons.
Our DPS are a NIN and a RDM, and the dps isn't the highest, but they're doing really good, and I find plenty of time to dps between managing my MP and healing.
I heal. I dps.The run is going smoothly, me and tank are in the same room, and I warn if I'm having trouble and vice versa so neither of us is caught off guard.
Here comes the second boss.
I notice the RDM doesn't go for the third tower. I take one, tank is in one and the last one is free. I don't expect the NIN to get it. The RDM is RIGHT THERE. I grumble to my tank about how the RDM isn't getting the tower, and BOOM.
It explodes, and everyone takes way more damage than I expect.
But whatever. I get us all topped back up. Cursing and grumbling IRL, but whatever. It's my job and I do it!
Second set of towers come out and wouldn't you know it. The RDM still isn't getting the tower that they are right next to.
I shield us all up to get ready for the hit, but between a hard hit and the extra damage from the tower, tank still takes a lot more damage than I expected.
Its close but I heal everyone up, and we get through it. All the while I'm grumbling about how the RDM wasn't doing the mechanic.
I don't even notice that the RDM said something, I was too busy rolling on loot. FINALLY a healer piece!!!
My tank reads off to me. "Try to make healing the tank a priority." The RDM said.
I blink. They're already heading off to the next pull, but I'm having none of it.
I angrily type, and my tank is nervously laughing cause he's like already pulling. but its ok. I can type and heal.
I replied. "TRY TO MAKE DOING THE MECHANICS A PRIORITY."
We're in the middle of a pull and I'm so mad cause I'd covered their butt with not a complaint to them. Sure I whined and grumbled out loud, but I didn't call them out. I am sooooooo mad.
Like how dare you when just covered your butt.
From there its a little blurry cause I'm trying to heal and reply.
They try to make the excuse that its their first time (I saw no first time thing pop up) and how they hadn't died so I needed to calm down?
UH. YOU DIDN'T DIE BECAUSE I COVERED FOR YOU WHEN YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Make healing the tank my priority? If it wasn't my priority, we'd have wiped because of the extra DMG.
My tank doesn't slow the pulls and I'm ok with this, I didn't want to deal with the drama, and I only replied out of principle.
You're new and not doing your job but you have the guts to tell me I'm not doing my job?
No one died. Not a single wipe. Not a single K.O.
The NIN had piped in and stuck up for me, typing while I continued to heal. Pretty much telling them off for saying I was playing badly. Which I laugh at. Cause again, not only did I keep everyone alive, but I also DPSed and had to make up for their mistakes.
The NIN reiterated it over and over until we were at the last boss room. (Which, I am super thankful for. TY NIN I'm glad you appreciated me!)
The RDM berates us both the whole way. I kept them alive though. Again, no deaths, no wipes, even when I'm replying to their stupidity.
As we're starting the last fight, the vote kick comes up and of course I agree to get rid of them. Sure maybe the caps were not necessary from me, but I did my job, and I was done with being called bad when I did my job.
We three-man the last fight which was a bit tough, but whatever.
As soon as I get of out the dungeon, I get a tell from a random.
"You're a c*** sucking piece of s***."
Wut. LMAO. Ok. We're playing hop on the alt (or so I assume). I have half a mind to reply but I just report and go to blacklist them but they are already offline like the coward they are.
Their main is on Balmung (*cough* I'm not surprised...) I blacklist them too.
Whatever. Me and my sweetie go to run Abania again and.
LMAO. GUESS WHO IS THERE?!
THE SALTY RDM.
I only manage to type "LMAO" before they leave.
Karma. Yeah, you go right back to sitting in that queue.
We got a BLM as a replacement and the run went as smooth as ever.
The BLM actually did the mechanic. -

WHM spent a good chunk of the run just standing around. There weren't any critical problems until after the second boss. Healer shows up onscreen confirmed so I proceed forward to collect the six enemies. Healer for some reason remains really far behind and I'm forced to pop hallowed to live (1.4k hp or so remaining). After that pull I pull the next six enemies and I am pretty sure I lost the remaining 75% of my hp (after being healed up) without so as much as one single heal. WHM just sits there. I basically ask him/her to not stand around so much (I even added in a please!) and they respond thusly: "first off i'm tired as hell so no lip hunny". I'm sorry but if that is your excuse why are you queue'd up? I didn't insult you, nor did I give any "lip." I made a request.
I left then and there after their response. I don't have to do 50/60 roulette and I am surely not going to tank for someone that acts this way. My patience for troublesome attitudes isn't quite what it used to be. -

The thing is they did reasonably fine throughout the first 2/3 of the dungeon. I mean the second pull with the 7 enemies (one being the serpent) went without a hitch. So it's not like I didn't have an understanding of what the party was capable of. I suppose I could have sugarcoated it a little bit but that's said and done now. Just strange a fine run went to smithereens in such a way.
I mean if I was tired and the party died on my account I'd at least own up to my mistake (such as in early 3.4 after hours of sophia ex practice I actually had cleric stance reversed on the first pull of ARF my brain melted), not jab back. -
10-06-2017, 06:29 PMPaladinleedsI actually had that happen today, not due to tiredness though. Kugane Castle, I'm BLM (other DPS is a SAM). DRK/WHM are our other 2. So DRK does the triple pull after second boss, and I position myself horribly by accident, put down my Ley Lines, and promptly take 5 cleaves to the face... I die, costing us the AoE needed to see through that pull. I run back as quick as I can, just in time to see the DRK and WHM die (after popping mana shift on the WHM), causing me to get creamed a second time. DRK is like "Hmm, maybe I overdid it there", to which I said it was my bad because I had positioned myself horribly. Everything else goes without a hitch.Quote:
