The server is full, try again later (1017)

fk'n BS, seriously F-U SE, sell me a 50$ product, give me a crappy early access then on launch day I cant even get in a que to get online.

seriously F-U SE. stupid company for releasing a game that isnt ready yet.

what i would like to know is what were they doing for the four weeks that passed by between phaze 3 and phaze 4. stress tests could have been done in that time. 3102 errors and now this crap going on could have been avoided. instead they have alot of pissed off players who can easily find something else to do with their time. i didn't beat dark souls yet so..... ill take a couple days away . for me, whats another couple days. my big question is this: how loyal do i stay to a mmo that has burnt me once, wich is now physically unplayable due to server capacity?

I have played way many MMOs on launch days. RIFTS and Warhammer had almost flawless launches. This one though, is one of the worse ones I've experienced. Even when WoW launched way back in the day, there where times when it was very unplayable. At least you could que up for the servers. I much rather see a message that says "You are currently #4560 in line" then the "This world is full, try again later" message that we get. Auto booting AFKers isn't a bad idea either. I know during the short time I got to play this morning. (Around 7am PST) During the hour when I was running around leveling my mining and gold smithing, I did see a couple of players that where literally standing in the same spot, unmoving the whole time. I should have just left myself logged in when I had to take my wife to work. Nope I made the mistake to log out, and when I got home I've had to deal with that "World is full" message since then. That's been 4 hours so far! I can already see that it's going to be this way at least for the next couple weeks. Oh well, at least I got some mini painting done while I waited.

now I don't get to.

1- afk time limit. just do it.
2- more world servers. duh.
3- allow free world transfer service so friends can actually play together.


Pretty shit-tastic of SE to offer a game, we buy it, but then can't play it. Yeah, first 30 days are free. Fine. But I still paid for the game itself.

Any lawyers in the FFXIV realm? What does the terms of service say about this? How about a class action lawsuit?

how nice... they give me the early access key when the early access is over, and them that... canceling my subs... let's see if things go better for the next 30 days... im losind the will to play...

Actually, now that I think about it, I should be used to this. During FFXI, you would get errors and random crap that would prevent you from playing for a day or 2 during a new Expansion launch. So they might get their crap together in the next day or so, which is very bad, but at least they'll get it together. I still say they need to invest in better servers, and get Managers who aren't dropping the ball every 5 minutes.

What are the guys at SE thinking. People that already have characters in a world should be able to get into it. If the world is'nt quite full then just let the remainder of space be filled and quit letting more than what that world can hold be over ran with more than what it can hold. This is'nt rocket science SE. Or maybe that's just what we have here, people with so much education that it pushed the common sense right out of them. Until this gets fixed I not gonna pay for it. I'm tired of trying to get on and keep getting world full and error 1017.

I apologize to you in advanced. However they gave me a full month of the service for free as well...in which case When it is time to renew the service for next month I Will do so...however it seems that I Will be able to go ahead and do the upgrade to the CE here shortly but wanna wait and get into the game first. Even in DCUO they gavce us non subscribers a Que listing and this is what they should have for this game as well. but anyways if they are having issues with the servers overloading they really should have considered this when they did the Open Beta Stress Test that last weekend they had it.

why is it i have no problems logging onto jp servers? does se know their are people on the servers refusing to log off because they are afraid they wont get back on?

Why oh why are the servers full on launch day. It makes no sense. It says please wait for an opening, for most of us we have been waiting for this for a long time. We have allotted time to play this, we have shaped our days and weekends for this. This is the message we get. I made a character there should be opening for it. It should not matter, why would you have a server open for character creation but not open to login. These are out mains we are trying to login. The only reason we are sitting in front of our computers/ps3 is to play this game

Keep Posting maybe if we get this bitch over 9000 they will pay attention

They posted it on the NA/EU forum. It's obvious. Don't be fooled by the title of the post (read the content). All servers with access problems will be updated.

If it was something just for the japanese they would communicate only to the japanese (written in japanese). Why let the players playing on servers NA/EU, even more angry?

Why can't the do the intelligent programming decision and give us simple Queue access. Even if I'm number 10,000 in queue and it's projecting an hour or more, I'd be happier with THAT than this whack-a-mole approach they have right now.

If freaking FREE TO PLAY games can do it, then what is Squeenix's excuse? Laziness and lack of professionalism.

This is getting ridiculous. I only put $5 on my preorder, and I'll be cancelling it come Friday before I have to pay the whole thing if this isnt fixed.

This is getting ridiculous. I was trying to log in for a while, getting error after error, until I finally got into a queue. Then, after a few minutes, it boots me out with the same error. They really need to do something about this.

EVERYONE TO THE JP SERVERS! THEY HAVE SAKE, SUSHI, AND SUDOKU!

It's an absolute joke, Square Enix know how many copies of the game sold and how many are likely to sell in the shops, yet they have done this without even having any queuing system. I thought after FF XIV in 2010 they would have learnt, but obviously not and no apology will wash this time unless it's resolved extremely quickly. Every single EU server is permanently full so the game is totally unplayable and the subscription is being wasted which Square Enix should rightfully refund. What is worse, the game is still for sale for digital download to make matters worse, they're selling a game knowing that these people will not be-able to play and that is greedy and just totally wrong.

Loading screen... yes finaly.... ow wait not,, try again later...

OMG!!! I love it. Not the approach but the description you have given it. whack-a-mole!!!!

I find this unacceptable. You have only so many servers for North America AND Europe? You should NOT be having this issue on release of the game. The game play is awesome but you need better networking to back up a ton of people trying to access the game. Please fix this and fast or you will be losing money quickly!

I was on Diabolos server. Finally gave up and made a character on Xion, hell I'm nearly caught up on quests and levels in one evening. I agree with flooding the JP servers

I can't login to my character. I can't create a new character on my friends server. Please fix this, make a longer queue or something.

They knew about this issue all through Early Access, they didn't fix it for the official launch.

This makes me mad I didn't cancel my pre-order. I was hesitating on it back and forth, but 12am rolled around and it was too late.

SE, how stupid can you guys be? I am not new to MMO launches and have played since launches as early as Dark Age of Camelot and most since but right now the lack of proper queues and AFK timers is pretty fucking ridiculous!

Queues and AFK timers are nothing new to MMO's so why don't you guys have these implemented? I finally saw the queue for the first time about 10 minutes ago, said 1 person ahead of then it boots me to the 1017 error. WTF, seriously?

Boot AFK/inactive players FFS! No way my server has been full (legitimately full) since noon (eastern time) and still full 3 hours later. Get your shit together, this is ridiculous!

I absolutely love this game, but if this doesn't get resolved before my 3 trial days are up I will NOT be inputting my code and will return my copy of this game. I refuse to let the first half of my free 30-days of game time get wasted by not being able to play due to such simple and common sense features being overlooked like this.

I don't mind that SE is trying to get everything resolved or even if they pushed back the release date when Phase 4 started. What i do mind is not being informed on progress or status updates saying they are still working on a solution to the issue. The frustration wouldn't be so bad if I knew that they were still working on a solution. Just some confirmation on progress is all that I ask for. Please, just an update.

Hmm - so let me get this straight - if you pay for a game that includes 30 days of free online play you are not really entitled to play until those 30 days are up and if you are lucky enough to get some play time during those first 30 days you should consider yourself lucky? All you paid for is the right to install the game on your PC/Console? If a game includes 30 days of as part of the package then you have paid for it and are entitled to expect to be able to log in and start playing. Of course any new online game can experience teething problems but I think what we have seen over the past few days goes far beyond that.

I was able to read the latest letter from the producer in between login attempts (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/70037) and not once did he mention the current problems. If you read the full letter it seems to have come from a parallel universe where everything went according to plan and we are all online playing as he writes. He ends his glowing letter with: "And now it’s time for this hardcore gamer to have some fun! See you all in Eorzea!!!" - we can only hope.
