Of which you and I would be of the same opinion here. Those aren’t the comments I’m referring to when I talk about the constructive ones.
LOL if condescending is telling people that had they considered certain things, they may not have been upset. Thats a big oof and yikes. They knew about it 1 week ago that gives everyone here 3 weeks to reschedule. That still isnt enough. Is it?
If having a game delayed 2 weeks, degrades people confidence in the dev team. Thats a yikes. 2 weeks or 3 weeks wouldn't have made a difference to really anyone. So really? What would you rather, them delay it for like 6 weeks til they can allow people to change their schedules.
It's software and things happen. The blowback they wouldve received wouldve been 10 times worse had they just released it broken. Cause you know FF just had big influx of players, and Endwalker is going to be some peoples first impression. They either get it right or get screwed. Not to mention literally what would have happened to their share holders. If
Also Condescending? Welcome to FFXIV Forums. Where people bullied devs into bunny boys. Lmao. Also not alot. Lmao.
If your just simply disappointed and upset, there is no harm in that. Heck I expressed earlier in the thread that I myself am disappointed, cause if you knew my IRL, I wouldn't shutup about the 1st EW Teaser before the theme song even had lyrics!
I have no issues with people being upset.
My issue is the people who wanna come at them and say stuff like the Company is unreliable and stuff like that, over a 2 week delay. My opinion doesn't change that I think PTO could/should be spent on something better then a Videogame, but its not like my Opinion carries any weight, and its humorous how people wanna resist and fight an opinion that opposes them.
In all seriousness, Im sorry that Covid has hit you hard in your part of the World. But (And this isn't targeted at you, unless I forgot your post) that doesn't warrant people saying unfair things to the company like threatening to pull support. Just because they used PTO to play a videogame and things didnt go as planned. Like they will never have a chance to play a game again.
Did you even watch the stream? Yoshi-P himself acknowledged that his actions in delaying for (his own admission) of selfish reasons could have degraded trust in the development team and he apologized for it. So you're basically saying that the developer being painfully aware of the results of his own actions and expressing empathy for the position of his consumers is wrong.
I was already seeing tons of DCs (Including multiple on my end) during the early days of the tomestone event, so it seemed pretty clear the servers would need more improvements to ensure things wouldn't go to heck on Endwalker's release.
It is what it is, Getting upset won't help.
Think of this postpone like brewing a wine, more time, better taste.
I just want to clarify on this part that it was not a software-related reason that the expansion was delayed. Part of it was server stability issues that came up during QA, and they want more time to test the servers. This was stated in the PLL. But another part was Yoshida outright admitting that he was fine-tuning lore details and details “only he would notice”. This changes a lot of things. It wasn’t a software bug that delayed the expansion. And a delay is also likely to have its own set of negative impact on the newbies, in all fairness.
I don’t think EW would have come out as “broken”. At least not to the extent that this game has seen—I do think the devs and SE learned their lesson the very hard way with 1.0, and they would never even announce a release date had EW been in that state. At most, I was kind of expecting SB early acces problems: disconnects, maybe another Raubahn Savage/Pipin EX, Duty Finder crashing from overload/the MSQ having an instance literally 3 quests in. But it was still relatively playable.
I’m as big a nerd as there is, and to say I’ve been looking forward to this release is a huge understatement… that said.. to plan my life around it? Certainly not. This is not to make fun of those who did, I’m just saying for me, the game is going to be there whether I clear it day one or day 100. I’d rather take my limited days off and take the kids camping, or something.
Again, for those of you who did plan so heavily, sorry for that..but at the same time, what’s the rush?
