We know they have big plans for Ishgard.. I keep wondering how drastically Ishgard might change in the future. Though that has little to do with the topic of Dragoons having wyvern pets... unless at some point Ishgard feels they need wyverns and is forced to work with them for protection or something. Doubtful, but I can't help but wonder what will become of Ishgard in 2.0.
Also, slightly related topic: Yoshida-san spoke of possible dragon people. I wonder.. would Ishgard have to befriend dragon-kind then? To let those people in? Or perhaps they would be enemies? :3

During the interview where Yoshi says that they are undecided about dragoon getting a wyvern or not he stated that the class balancing was the issue. Also I take that the choice will depend on our opinions, I wonder where he got the impression that everyone wanted a wyvern, because from this thread it looks quite grim.
That being said you can tell that the lore is not what's finite in this discussion, they can easily work around it without of it having to much impact to the settings. Same goes for the traditional view on dragoon.
This is however highly hypothetical, and who is to say that we can't get the same scale on content and enjoyment of something that doesn't revolve about dragons? Additionally, who says that a dragoon with a wyvern can't fight a dragon?Quote:

And I do wonder, if Ishgard still stands after 2.0, if they will have to befriend dragon-kind if SE adds a dragon race because SE probably wouldn't want to lock them our of anything. Perhaps they'd add to the lore.. a truce between them.
I'm not saying this is what I want obviously. lol I'm just thinking of possibilities of Ishgard and Dragoons in the future. -

i would be willing to take a hit in dmg to have my pet like i did in ff11. if thye keep it along the lines of when i ws it ws then it wudnt make a difference if i was lil down graded really.
but if i get a pet i dont want everyone to get the same darn wyvern. give us colors to pick and eyes and i could be happy -

I'm a fan of the idea of having a DRG only mount (like the drake in the video), but still against pets.
I don't know all the lore, but I would also turn in favor of staying with it, before I'd suggest any change. (In case this or the pet go against it.) -

If they did it along the lines of how they talked about chocobos taking up a PT slot, then I could get behind it more. But a rehash of the way FFXI did it? no way. If the pet took up a spot in the PT, then the Dragoon nor the pet would have to be dumbed down, but I don't think this would be the way it would be added, and there for don't want to see it at all.
In FFXI when your wyvern died most of the time (and all of the time when it was our 2hr) you where screwed.
