Gil Issues @ 50

Why has no one touched on the fact that the OP is psycho and has many 50s? We are all listening to the rants of a champion shut in. The OP wants the rest of us who don't do as he does to feel bad because we don't do "work" in a game. Let's all take 5 minutes to think about how insane that statement sounds.

The solution is probably going to come in the form of reduced repair bills or increased gil rewards for leves to help counter balance. Crafting and Gathering should be fun and not "work". Although it blows my mind there are creatures on here that try to shame you for not doing them.

What about those of us that play the game... for fun..?

I'm not saying there should be a little effort into earning some gil to cover repairs. But I find the "well go level your crafting up!!!" argument stupid as hell.

I've played games that required a huge time sink, that was fun when I was younger and didn't have responsibilities outside of "making sure I am able to fund my repairs if a few friends and myself want to do a few dungeons later."

oh look at me i don't like to do trade skills so i want game easy so i can have more gil screw the economy its all about me.

how's that server first working for you, lololol

It shouldn't be a crime to take one day out of dungeon farming to concentrate on making gil instead, whether it be crafting or any other method. This was always standard in MMO's, and shouldn't be nothing new to any MMO gamer.

The stupidity in this post is beyond amazing.

So, by your logic, everyone should dedicate a hefty amount of time into crafting. Tell me, once everyone has their crafting leveled up and don't need you, or any other crafter, how do you intend on making any profit?

Have you even read any of the legitimate concerns?? Just because someone is/was level 50, has absolutely zero bearing on their concern.

I'm not against questing or whatever to earn gil. I'm not even disagreeing that crafting is a good source of PERSONAL income.

I'm disagreeing with the whole "well level a crafter!" argument. Hell I don't even "dungeon" grind all day. One or two dungeons cost between 1.5, and 2.5k gil for me. I don't even let things break completely.

4 leves net me around 1.5k or so after repairing.

I'd have to limit myself to one dungeon per day if I wanted to come out ahead at all, and then it is minor. Crafting should not be the "go to" because like myself, and many others have stated, if everyone has crafting leveled, there is no use for myself, or anyone else to purchase anything you have created and posted.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

lets see game release 27th you are lv 50 i know you can level fast but at anytime did you not think hey is there something missing i should be doing ? crafting is not hard and is pretty simple and easy try it you might just like it, if you need tips ask me ill help any time.

today a gold smith made 200k off me their are ways to make money you need to earn it like that gold smith

This game is easy as it is, no need to further cater towards the casuals.

Make a couple delicious pies, slice 'em up. Pass the pieces around, but everytime a slice changes hands, you have to take a bite. If no new pie enter the system, eventually you run out of pie, no matter how many slices you, personnaly, have or have had. The problem as i understand it (blah blah not 50 blah blah not high level crafter/not enough crafter/not the right crafter) is that theres not enough new pie to make up for the bites being taken.

This is an infrographic from the one year anniversary of D3. If you look about half way down you'll see the amount of gold currently in the game. You'll notice in the pie chart below that selling items on the AH did not in fact create any of the gold in D3. It only moved it from one player to another.

So the theory remains that eventually when everyone is done with the story the amount of "gold looted from the ground" will be far less than the gold being sunk into the game. I'm not sure if there is any merit to the theory but it seems fairly soundly based.

So then I raise this point, where are all the gil sellers getting their gil if there is no way to make gil in this game? I am sure it can't just be be hacking all the poor, gil-less level 50's accounts...

Gil creation itself is not the issue. The sources that create that gil are. People just aren't taking the time to utilize the avenues that create the most gil, which obviously are not dungeons.

You're almost right.

The only significant sources of Gil creation are the storyline and side quests that people run from 1 to 50. Those quests are the actual source of the income that all those crafters are touting right now. The major issue is that those quests can only be done once per character and there isn't another activity to replace them once they're finished. All the other sources of income (levequests, FATEs, etc.) don't provide enough income to keep up with things like repair bills from doing just about any activity in max-level gear. In other words, it costs you more to run levequests than you make from them.

It would be like paying your boss for the privilege of working at your job.

Setting aside the fact a large portion of gold sellers are just scams, you are aware most gold sellers run bots and/or use what is essentially slave labor right? Bots are self-explanatory. The people who are actually sitting at the computer are an entirely different matter. It's not like it's one person logging on everyday from 9-5, running a bunch of guildhests and trade leves then calling it a day. No, these are rooms and often warehouses crammed full of people doing the most basic things like grinding out mobs and gathering a bunch of easy mats and just vendoring whatever drops. You throw 100+ people into a room doing that for 24 hours a day and you're looking at a pretty serious gil.

Well I donno then. I do a bunch of different activities including end game dungeon spam for tomes and have had positive income all the while except when I bought a ton of materials from various NPCs to stock my free companies crafters who are starting out.

Just as it was in 1.0, if you're unwilling to craft, gather, or farm drops, you should accept the fact that you will be poor. Deal with it.

If you invest in even just one crafter class, just one gatherer class, or even just farming materials, you will have money. Deal with that.

This is the thing - On Legacy worlds it's a horrible situation because you can have say an Electrum Ingot that costs 1.2k to buy then say an HQ Zircon for 300gil, why are Electrum Circlet (Zircon) 70 gil to buy? People who say "there's no problems just level craft/gather!" Aren't on Legacy worlds majority of the time, where the issue is most present.

Yes you can make money with Gathering and Crafting, but not if people destroy every single market the second you try to make said money - 99% of the time it's people who came into ARR with more than enough gil that are ruining markets just to push off skill up items faster or to drop the price low enough to make everything made with said items also worth nothing. This is an issue on Legacy worlds more than it is on newer worlds.
