boohooo 25 mins? I wait 40-70mins xD and than the healer quits because tank is new and does not know about speedruns.

I always ask if ppl wants to do a speed run, and so far NONE complained.
Once they fix gear wear and repairs, and actually give us incentives to kill trash, people will do it. Until then, you have to forcefully turn a blind-eye if you think speed runs aren't actually the better way to go, whether if its for farming Tomestones or saving gil on repairs.
I saw someone say challenge? Sorry, the trash isn't challenging, and it actually hurts you far more to clear it.
I could see speed runs being great in a group that can one-shot bosses.
As a tank, I could also see them take a ridiculous toll on my pocket book if I'm playing with people who have never killed a Demon Wall before. The number of wipes with those groups has taken me to 10% gear condition WITHOUT me doubling my death toll.
In Duty Finder, there's no telling who I'm playing with. As such, I will be pulling trash, and you have the choice of dealing with it or returning to queue. Sorry, but gil (and a back-up set of gear in case of breaks during a bad PUG) doesn't grow on trees, and I'm just not a fan of gambling.
It will be fun when SE forces everyone to kill trash mobs in a way or the other.
It's sad from both a dev's POW and a player's.
The devs put time in placing mobs and giving them AI to make a challenge, the players instead exploit a game mechanic to quickly reach the top, because they won't be able to play the game anymore tomorrow, maybe they gotta finish it before the free subscription runs out because their parents won't pay the fee.
If you feel the need to rush the game instead of enjoying it, because you know, you play to have fun, not to stress over the "omg, my friends will think I'm a noob for taking so much time", maybe you should think twice before continuing to play.
i don't actually understand why would you want to not do a speed run? it's not like you get exp at 50.
To build your LB maybe? Don't need it on first boss, it's built for the 2nd boss where you can use it.
Or is it because the missing of one or two chests? i mean, do you really want them 6 tin pieces?
I kill all mobs to spiritbond armor I make for myself. then switch to aetherial/rare set when going for the boss. works for me, I guess
I speed run Ampador Keep. Most people want to sped run Ampador Keep. The people who want to do the full dungeon are a minority.
If I did wish to run the whole dungeon, I doubt very much that I would find it difficult to put together a static group for it just by shouting in one of the cities. With several thousand players online I think finding another three shouldn't be too much of a problem.
As we can hold multiple linkshells, one solution to your problem may be to start and to advertise a full run linkshell. You could target yourselves as focusing on learning the whole dungeon properly with no pressure on people to skip cutscenes and the like. Perhaps the simplest and most elegant solution.
Im sorry and your proof for this is where? Theres probably a fair amount of the silent majority that would like to do a full run but the vocal minority piss and moan about stuff alot more and people cave in. I agree with ZohnoReecho, i cant wait for them to fix speed runs so people have to do the full run. Squeenix put all that effort into making the dungeon and people decide to exploit it while waving the "i dont have enough time to play so want stuff fast" flag and skip pretty much all of it. I shall be taking my time to enjoy sqeenix's work when i get round to doing AK. People getting into bad habits is not good for the community as a whole.
They should just make trash mob drops tomes and seals, while reducing the dungeon clear reward.
I'm a "soon" to be 50 paladin, and i would love to speedrun both AK and Wanderer's Palace. However, since I've never been there, should I even bother with the Duty Finder or just kidnap 3 people from my Friend List to learn the drill? You all make it look a little harsh for the first timers...
Do trash mobs not even drop mats that are level appropriate? I'm.. boggled if they don't drop ANYTHING useful at all, as it really makes no sense.. And yes, I agree that with no incentive to fighting the junk, there's no reason at all to do so. As much as I'd love to do these dungeons normally, there's just.. no point? Why bother, indeed.
The only time we killed the trash mobs, was if we failed on the boss and wanted to start with LB bar 3/4 full. Then, we would kill them after we had already skip on the first tried.
Otherwise, there's no value on killing them from the get go, except to waste value boss killing time.
OP you and all the other speed runners are the single biggest reason why i like to solo most things, i actually want to get more than 30 days worth of enjoyment out of this game, also this is one of the main reasons i rolled as a conji, sure you can run ahead but don't expect me to rez or heal you if you do, besides being a healer has one big advantage over a dps class, i don't have to queue for dungeons when i leave your groups (with the exception of the 15min penalty), so i can just keep quitting your runs till i find a reasonable group to run with.
Yes i'm being a douche, but how does it feel to be stuck on the other side of the fence for a change, instead of me having my fun ruined by speed runners, your 'fun' is being spoilt be healers dropping out of your groups.
What you didn't guess is that there is a looooot of people playing this game for the first time, and that are not willing to ruin their first experience in a dungeon to speed run because other peoples want to...
To all speedrunners :
I'm a tank lvl 41 playing at my pace with some friends. In the next few days I'll be 50 and able to do Amdapor. And when I'll get in peoples will have a choice : do the long run or leave.
I'm not against speedrun, but until I'm familiar with the dungeon, I won't do speedruns.
Why ? Because I wan't to experience everything at my pace.
I won't rush and skip all the content and for Chiruru53 (btw I pray I 'll never group with you in DF because you seem to be an awfully intolerent guy) I will not watch guide on youtube cause I WANT to be spanked hard by bosses and be able to say "wow this guy can do this ?" and be able to think for myself how to beat the boss instead of having the answer shoved right in my face.
My point is either find some friends to do speedruns as much as you want or if you must use DF then suck it up and accept the fact that some peoples enjoy playing and do fights, not just getting some loots to brag about.
I do understand your frustration but you should not blame speed runner.
We are not doing this because we want to but because we NEED to.
You will understand once you reach level 50 and understand how expensive repairs are and there is no way to make money at that level.
Don't be surprised if it gets patched to prevent speed running. It was allowed in 1.0 since the game was shutting down and the carrot/stick mechanic of gear was more in danger of being bypassed as opposed to completed.
I don't care what other people do, but don't be naive enough to think that you're not exploiting and that SE won't fix it.
I do not blame them and understand why they want to do speedrun. I understand that money become an issue engame. I will myself do speedruns if I feel the need at a later time.
My point is just that you can't expect everyone to accept to do speedruns when using duty finder.
I get that it's your first run so you'd want to see the dungeon how it is and kill all the trash.
But when you have to keep entering it over and over and over and over again to get stuff for your gear, then speedrunning helps shorten the time it takes for you to get it at least. It becomes a little bit tedious i guess.
Not sure if this has been mentioned already but maybe they can update the duty finder and add a "First Timer OK" checkbox along side the in-progress one so people will only be matched with others who are ok with normal runs/cutscenes.
Is there something wrong with the duty finder? I'm a healer with a tank, we have been on que for 30 minutes. It says we have the party ready but it says "reserving instance". Is there's something wrong with duty finder? It's our first time doing this.
Probably because a lot players are trying to do the same thing and reserve a space to play it :(
After doing a couple of runs, I can definitely understand OP's sentiments about why speed running this dungeon is more preferred than fighting all the mobs to get to bosses. Just not worth it.
I totally agree. I only mentioned it (which would group first-timers AND anyone else who does not mind normal runs, not sure how small that pool is) because I figure it's easier to add a checkbox than making jackasses to stop acting like jackasses (and to be fair, I understand why people would want to speedrun, so this gives them a tool to avoid the awkward/hostile situation of confronting/kicking someone for not wanting to speedrun)... Plus it would come in handy in other end-game dungeons where people get kicked if they so much as hesitate to skip a cutscene.
I am so sick of AK speed runs. They're all I do in the zone. At this point I'd welcome killing things just because it's a change of pace. I also feel bad for the players just starting the content, because some groups don't really spend a lot of time teaching and explaining.
Also, the issue with pick-up groups is that some try to speed run them when they're clearly not ready for it and usually end up wiping once or twice on the bosses due to gear or lack of experience. Most "speed runs" I've done in DF end up like this and still take an hour. However, when you have a decent group, and finish the area in 20-25 minutes, it really is a thing of beauty.
They could "fix" speed runs by having mobs drop tombstones....
I dunno, it is what it is...personally IDC lol XD
