The server is full, try again later (1017)

Simple solution. Create a JP server character for times NA/EU goes down. I started an Arcanist on Rindil. Come join me for the time being.

error 1017 on Ragnarok too ... been like this all day long.

At least it's not 3102.

NA Cactuar. Same issue. World is full.

I find the error message kind of ironic. "The World is currently full. Please wait until an opening is available and try again." I don't know about any of the rest of you but I'm not psychic. Without a queue I can't determine when an opening is available without fruitlessly trying over and over again.

They really need to have a queue system for this, as well as drop players after a certain amount of inactivity.

feels like at the end of all these issues we will be well educated on what each error is ...... -_-

Welp as soon as I'm able to log in I'm Definitely NOT logging out unless they take the server down. Only way to be able to play pretty much.

It's at a stage now where I have to leave my damn game logged in for the hours I'm not there just in case I can't get back in the damn game. It's absolutely unfathomable to think that a company as MASSIVE as Square Enix couldn't take the simple mentality on board of "learning from past mistakes"

Same here. If they aren't going to disconnect idle players, no way in hell I'm logging off when I'm finally in.

Because everyone likes to buy games, that don't let them play..

People don't pay monthly subs, for games that tell them they can't play..

SE, Honest question...why do you have to Lock the logins? Just allow people to sit in a queue to log in so they can wait in line to get on the server rather than attempting to log in over and over and over. If you only want so many people on the servers, fine, but at least make this thing somewhat manageable.

Queues were working fine yesterday and all through beta. I don't see why they're not working now. Ridiculous.

What is the point of having a queue system if you don't let people INTO the queue???

This is kindergarden level programming. I won't mind being number 35,000 in the queue as long as I can walk away and know I'll get in after some number of hours.... making a queue that's only a couple hundred slots is pointless. Having a limit is mostly pointless... it can't take much resources to hold a tcp socket open and less than 1K of memory for the login/world/character info.

At this point, i'd be perfectly happy to sit in a queue for an hour and a half, at least then I'd have some sort of effing idea when I'd be able to actually play my character.

Again 1017 realy bad bad bad !! SE kinding us?? Thw wrost system ever at start ( Other companies had early access but they dont lock ppls out ) !!

It be better to start a thread the games facebook page, complaining on the forums does not seem to work, maybe if we went to far more public place they wil respond...

I'm not one to usually complain or whine, but It would be nice knowing what the current que is. Or possibly another estimate as to when I'll be able to login would be nice too. Seeing as weekends are my only days off, thank you.

yeah i had same problem problem is now they are in a locked login protocol which mean they have disable world ques meaning no1 can que on any world this is so they can calibrate instances its all in their maintance logs thank god i didnt buy the game coz the early access is nothing but a way for them to test loggin servers the weird thing is it doesnt seem to affect their JP data centres might as well wait for game to go live the only plus sided thing is i logged out in a rested area

MMO champion has like 50 pages of pissed off people about this.
But hey it's not like they care if people refund, less server stress.

I cant even see the NA/EU servers now. It just says *Obtaining the world list. . .*

I will stick with the game because the game seems to be really good I don't care how much people complain. I have played every FF there is and I still love it....

I'm guessing they did not expect this game to be liked by so many. I only got to lvl 4 yet enjoying it so far.

Anyway back to guessing when an opening ..opens up..gonna try the Jedi mind trick..yeah that should work.

A new wrinkle. Now on occasion instead of just 1017, I just get a black screen when trying to enter the world.

I've been trying very hard to be patient with this game. I understand they're just starting off, and stuff happens, but this was an issue in phase 4 beta. That is when they should have been monitoring and what-not. This right now is ridiculous. I just finished with being stuck out of the game for cycling 90000/10102 errors, and even after the last maintenance, getting 90000's, followed by graphic glitching. But I've been patient. Now they're intentionally not letting people in the game, when in just 2 days, floods of players who either didn't pre-order, or didn't get their early access key are going to be trying to join the game. And of course, ppl already in the game know all of this, there's no way they're going to log out willingly to give others a turn to play. They did this in beta for fear of 3201, which was only a chance occurrence -- where as this is guaranteed no access for a while after you log off.

Thing is, some ppl say need new servers, but new servers are not going to fix anything. People are going to gravitate towards older servers because their friends are already well established there. Why play an MMO with friends if you can't be on the same server as your friends? Not that we can right now, even if we did get onto the same server.

Beta/EA is one thing, but an error like 1017 would be unacceptable post-launch. At that point I will be paying for access to the characters I have created; not letting me in is a denial of service.
Besides, if I was allowed to create that character, clearly the world was not full yet. So don't tell me it's full when logging in. It's not like it's hard for S/E to see the # of unique service accounts that have characters on any given world.

What I don't understand is how SE didn't anticipate this many players... they know exactly how many preorders they have... why wasn't all of this prepared for.

they have sincerely dropped the ball on this, whatever text they put on their information pages, they KNEW how many pre orders were sold, and they also Knew from 4 iterations of beta testing the server loads. they knew how ofent the 1 server that handles instances was getting hit.
if they didnt, they need a better support crew.

They plain and simple aren't prepared for this weekend and launch in less than 2 days.

They should implement a QUEING system again ASAP because not having a queing system is increadibly poor customer service!

The world is obviously not full since it told me so 5 minutes after they came back up, i'm guessing they're monitoring for an extended period of time to see how the fixes are progressing, but they need to come out and say that. It's not like everyone and their dog isn't aware of the problems now, staying quiet about it is doing more harm than good.

havent been able to get into game all day, wife is having same problem as well. 1017 is kicking SE in the nuts this is getting really stupid now.

While im not the one to complain i am getting a bit frustrated as this knocks off tons of playing time and slows me down, i understand what Mr Yoshida and company are doing but this isnt the way, locking people out the server with a limit will only upset people more, what they should do until they fix this issue with NA/EU servers is just let us go to the JP servers, set up a transfer so we can all just go elsewhere because i surely do not want to start over, or even add a que like everyone is asking, the world full 1017 error is extremely annoying.

Not to defend what's gone down thus far, but they built the instancing and lobby servers well before the final pre-order numbers came in. They could have adjusted accordingly, had they had a longer or earlier P4, but they didn't. A lot of people didn't pre-order until after trying OB, which is why most companies don't have their OB less than a week before early access.

Same issue in Gilgamesh world.
