You're forgetting some things.
1) People who did not puchase in the 8/13-8/15 window don't have the same issue. So, it IS a problem.
2) SE has explicitly stated that it's a technical issue, and that they will be working on it.

However, if this is the case why not telling us this at the begining of all this mess? why they told us to wait and check our XMB message inbox? I believe that if the fix is as simple as that, SE would have said this before and avoid the rage of many "infuriated" customers.
That's a good point. It may simply be that the Early Access service with the dates Aug 13-15 is not getting recognized and thus the error pops up. The error could be the wrong error code by default because there is no other default code for this issue....
/maintaining optimism =P
Any update?? O.o
SE already admitted it was a problem they are trying to resolve. Not sure what else you people need to hear... just sit tight and wait for them to resolve it. The people who are cancelling their preorder and trying to buy it again make me sad for humanity.
Y'know what? I think you guys are on to something. The game is acting as a "Pre-Order" as it should thus not activating till 5:01a.m.(Est). This always happen when I pre-order from PSN. Now, if it doesn't activate at the time of EA, then we panic.
I'm not seeing how SoopaMan2K is "wrong" in this case. Theoretically, he could still be right.Quote:
We have identified a technical error for users that have purchased the digital version of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition, or Collector’s Edition, from the PlayStation® Network between Tuesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 15.
Rest assured we are working with Sony Computer Entertainment America on the issue and further details will be sent directly to affected users via the PlayStation®3 XrossMediaBar (XMB) message system.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
Sony is giving refunds to your wallet. I just checked my wallet and was refunded the 60 for the collectors edition. Unfortunately the collectors edition is unavailable.
Ok so, how are we suppose to buy it now? It says everything expires on the 23rd of August. I guess when this falls all the way through, we can re-buy again.
This is their solution? Oh man....
Yup I received refund to my wallet as well.
Collector's Edition not available so I am just downloading the 39.99 version and spending that extra 20 on Tomb Raider since its on sale =/ Hardly a solution and this situation was rather stinky but whatever.
So PSN says the reason I can't purchase the Collectors again (after refunding) is because I already own it? I checked my services and everything expires on 23. How do I go about purchasing again on my PSN account?
Just a FYI, when I purchased the game on the 13th, I also cancelled my Gamestop pre-order. They had already sent me the EA code though. So I just used it and after a couple of tries PSN finally accepted it and I was able to log into the game, link to my service account (correctly adding EA + the items) and I'm downloading the patch now.
EDIT: Never mind, The store was loading without my Login info.
Yeah, when I go to transaction history - services list, it still lists FFXIV there. Sony, um... I don't want a refund, I want to be able to play the game tomorrow lol.
I just checked my PSN store. I got my 39.99 USD back but I cannot buy the stander version, only CE...seems the system is going to repurchase the game and thus registering the 23rd the purchasing day and thus getting EA....Does this sound possible? Maybe we are finally getting a fix...
Naberrie called it
Keep your eyes peeled on this for Final Fantasy XIV(PS Store) changes so we can re-buy when everything gets cleared.
I ordered on the 15th my services listed are 1.early access 2.standard game 3.open beta. I dont think the order of services list has anything to do with anything.
edit: just check the PlayStation store and my pre-order has been refunded. I didn't ask for this. my transaction history doesnt show the game or services anymore either. I havent received any mail or messages or read anything that explains whats happening here.
I successfully purchased the standard edition and it is patching now. However I had bought the collectors edition before so the standard was available for purchase but not the CE.
Someone in another thread is saying we are getting full refund and a voucher to DL the game again for free, with some type of extras, but not til next week. No idea what to believe. I'll wait it out a bit to see what SE says.
Ahhh what do we do!!
So does this mean you no longer have the CE bonuses?
so the amount of what is refunded is that in the current wallet?
So the situation is like this:
1. Still no XMB message at the moment
2. We've got refunded to our wallet for what we purchased, either Standard or Collector Edition
3. In Services List, the game itself and the early access service expires on 08/23/2013
4. The FFXIV theme from the Download List is gone (I guess the game is still in my download list because I enrolled the open beta of PS3 before)
5. Depends on which version we purchased, we cannot purchase that one again
6. As long as your downloaded it already, the game is still sitting in your PS3 (of course, they cannot remotely delete it)
Conclusion:
I assume they are still in the middle of processing and will send us XMB message about how we could get it back. (I'm not sure but most likely a re-download is not even needed if we are doing everything right, what makes us cannot play is the validity of the code, not the downloaded content)
What we need to do now is just wait a bit more! There is progress already, and SE, Sony and us are so close to make it!
Buying a copy of the another edition may grant you the access to early access again and let you patch your client, but only do this if you don't mind taking the another edition instead! Moreover, no one guarantee this act may mess up some other thing at the moment. Take your own risk.
So just got off the phone with Sony,
For everyone who refunded and cannot purchase it, funds may be returned to the wallet but purchase and transaction history may take 5-7 business days to remove said purchase...
Normally that's probably the case, but for this special situation I think they expedited this process... the services list for FFXIV all expire today. This theoretically means they are cleared at midnight. Still, best to just wait for SE to say something official. If they make us wait 5-7 I will rage.
