In one of the live letter thingies, I seem to recall them stating that the original music of the Black Shroud is still there but broken into several pieces and scattered throughout the entirety of the area. Did I misunderstand them?

Its awesome how they changed this area, good job
I really really really really hated the black shroud. The first time I made my character I started it in the gridania, but after looking at the map I was all like 'hells no', then deleted and restarted in limsa. Gridania area looks like the forest place I wanted to start in now, not some ugly tunnel maze.
My favorite area so far is the village like area with the stone walls. I wish I could live there. So peaceful looking.
Amazing!!! Can't wait! XD
This also shows how bad was the damage Dalamud cause. The once lushes Black Shroud has returned to when the earth has just begun it's evolution.
I think the game looks so awesome!! Does anyone know how it will work when it comes out? Will I have to delete the old version and download the new one? Or does it just install over the old one?
There may not be such a constraint, but it makes no sense for them to include music in this video that isn't from the zone's they are showcasing.
I would appreciate it if the devs would clarify this for us. Is the music playing on these videos the actual zone music of the zone showed?
as per you not being impressed by the music, that is purely personal taste and completely subjective. I personally find it fits the zone very well, and all the tidbits I have heard so far are composed very well.
I am nothing but impressed on the detail and work put into the zones and the music. If there was anything I would of wished for out of the team, it was to give me that feeling of Final Fantasy in the old days with a online experience. Every video I see, I feel like that wish is coming true.
The music, what can I say? SOKEN and his team are just fantastic at bringing that FF feeling in simply with the music. This sounds like quality that we would get in other FF titles+1. While Nobuo Uematsu is still a brilliant composer, and even FFXIV 1.xx's soundtrack was great, it felt really out of place at times and don't feel like some themes fit into the world at all.
I look forward to how Thanalan, La Noscea, Coerthas, and Mor Dhona are handled both in the graphical and sound department. I really feel like they nailed it with the atmospheric forest theme of Black Shroud and look forward to seeing the other regions.
Can't wait to see it all!! Thx for the video!!
Btw, mandragoras?

loved the music that I haven't heard before. Great job Soken Team!!
Bloody impressed, and extremely excited for when Yoshi-P & Co. deem 2.0 fit for release. Brilliant work, ladies n' germs!
God I hope they put even half the effort they put in to this zone in to the Quest Chains..
Game looks amazing. Quest based leveling is scary. =/
I really don't have an issue with the non movement spinning and the instant stop. If it carried over to official release I wouldn't mind. I actually prefer it.
In 1.0 I didn't like the inertia I felt on my character, and it also felt my feet were heavily anchored to the floor.
To each their own.
I love the look and uniqueness of every part in the area ..is like 1.0 was done by just one person and he copy pasted everything to get it done with but 2.0 seems like a lot more people are involved and each of them were given a part of it to put all their creativity, time and patient to design :D
Official sound Track, <Can I have it> Pwease? c:
I really wish I could remember where, but I know I saw these monsters before when looking at FFXIV material. It was on a previous trailer or something. Maybe it was concept art they had released for realm reborn awhile back. I just know I've seen them before now lol. Anyhow it looks like they are making significant progress.
It would be silly to play music over the top of the game, and not have the players expect to hear it in game. Doesn't mean they have to make it a part of the game, but they kinda would have to think on it, if its not already part of the game.
I won't complain about things like animations and whatnot. SE has already made a multitude of comments regarding this. Plus like others said it's alpha. This stage of the game isn't about looks as much as its about stability. Beta, that is when we are truly allowed to scream and yell as much as possible. And if they do what they said they would, "LISTEN". Then we should be good lol.
And to the comment about lv 20, and not being able to explore. Common, it's not hard for them to give us a on/off switch for god mode. So that we can thoroughly explore for issues.
If they put this much effort into the graphics I can't wait to see what they've done to the gameplay and UI. Hopefully they will start to show some of that soon.
Useful information
Mostly for people complaing about the camera: Free turn mode and Turn character mode, confirmed by Yoshida.
I know I saw at least one person here takling about the flow of time: Time is stopped at 11AM in the Alpha.
Thank you Nael van Darnus for helping create such a beautiful new world in ARR~
Also noticed that at 0:55 you can clearly see this exact concept art in the distant background

LOL no... Ochu

I have to wait HOW long for the release?
just kidding. I want this game to be perfect. Do what you need to do. It looks better than anything I had hoped for so far... Keep it up!
Visually, I'd expect nothing less from FF; but the bgm throughout, especially from 0:58 through 1:34? Mood setting in the most epic way imaginable.
Solowut?
Holy god!
First, this is amazing. Every time I see a new Alpha video, I have to watch it multiple times. The first time I watch these, all I notice is how fantastic the lighting is. Thanks to those who pointed out the interesting mobs, the concept art showing up in the background and the music. However, I still don't see anything red in the middle of the Aetheryte ><
Also, holy crap, we managed to go 11 pages without a raging dislike turning into a cesspool of attacks, well done devs and community :D
I want to start by saying that these videos that are coming out are absolutely amazing. I can't believe how much better the Black Shroud is looking from the old 1.0 version.
The only thing I would like to see added to the video doesn't even have to do with the game. I would love to see some kind of subtitle added to the video to tell us that don't speak JP what those pop-up messages are saying. I'm assuming they say what area they are entering but I would like to know that as well. Or even if they could add something to the comment like say @ :26 - XXXXXXX. Would help us English folks out :)
I posted in the other topic, but I'll post a shorter version here... IN LIST FORM!
-I was wrong before. I'm liking the new stylized look. Everything looks like it has a purpose rather than just following some sort of Fantasy Forest checklist.
-Seems to have a heavy Xenoblade feel. This is a positive.
-I see the giant crystals are now just a redesigned, bigger version of the Aetheryte Gates/Nodes from 1.0
-Lighting and Shadows are still amazing, but I hope the textures in the final release are a little more detailed on characters and clothes. They appear too washed out right now.
-Looking forward to Limsa Lominsa.
So prrrretty! Wants moar! Actually, i'd love to see some other zones :p
And people complained about grass.... /facepalm
I'm loving the new game world. It looks so different in every location.
This looks so AMAZING! A BIG Difference from 1.0, it looks way neater, organized, and easy to use that the last slow responsive UI. The only think i have had a problem with in the game is armor, alot of the high levels always looked the same with their job specific armor :/. If you could after releasing work on that, and make everyone look more different armor wise?
Breathtaking animations! It is good to see the Devs have done so well.
