I'm probably never ever getting a relic in my gaming life ever. I just don't have the time for it, maybe one day I will but it won't be for some time. This event is nice for people like me because if you can actually equip your relic it's fun to see what it would look like on you. Maybe give you a reason to get organized and get one too.
It's just a fun event. We had our last save, quit demanding crap and just ENJOY yourselves. For the love of the Twelve quit whining all the time. :p
At least you have a great taste in games. lol Blade and Soul has an awesome story! I played the private server for a bit. lol
Anyways, as far as the event goes and getting relics, I'm cool with that. As far as keeping them in 2.0, that is what the argument is about. Also, no, I do not think we should be able to keep them. Final save was one November 1st, let's keep it that way. :P
5 days after you gather the seals and if you are in a LS that knows how to destroy then content flawlessly which i presume you dont have or you would prob have them already. Oh and if you have enough gil to purchase the double melded weapon of choice or enough luck and crafting skills to make your own. good luck though.
As far as speed runs for dungeons go, they wont have any speed runs in 2.0 from what I have read. So, they may be toning down the requirements to earning the relics, which will piss off the people who already got them in 1.0. Well, to get a relic in 1.0 was their choice. If the relic is easier to get in 2.0, then that works too. I honestly think that the relic quest was just a ridiculous time-sink to fill in the gaps, to keep people busy.
when did the "FFXIV: something for doing nothing line start(again)?" and why did no one tell me ?!?!
In FFXI, when level caps were increased a few times, it made a TON of hard to get gear basically worthless, then they made Dynamis soloable and that made getting relics so much easier. When this happened, a lot of people that worked really hard to get the relics and other gear got really butthurt, complained like there's no tomorrow. And you know what the final result was, they got over it and went on with their lives. Same here, let us keep our free relics, those that have ass pain, buy some Preparation-H for your butthurt. I don't like being given busy work (busy work is to keep children busy, I'm not a child) for a relic, sucks the fun out of the game, let those that have a problem with it drop their free relics in ARR.
when they increase lvl cap if the relic quest stays the same it will be super easy to get. But....... they are upgradeable and im guessing that they will have new harder content planned for upgrading your relics.
so when they increase lvl cap there will prob be a bunch of new weapons that beat out relics for a period of time cause they will be lvl 60(or whatever the lvl is) and relics will be 50. but then they will release new upgrade quest and the process will continue.
OK, everyone has had their laughs, now what confuses me is: Why hasn't a community rep locked this thread yet?
Seriously.
dont see what the big deal is on relics now i dont see much of a gain to even go through all that luckness you need in the quest anymore. if you already capped in the stats on the relic the added stats are useless they do look pretty though.
version 1 - the whole quest everything is based on luck if there was no luck involved it would take a day to get all 7 lol. they need a whole new system in ARR.
I like the relics :) I will be hiding mine under the bed so I can keep them! muahahahah!
Don't really care to keep it. I'm just hoping they fix the imbalanced parts of the relic quest so I'll actually care to continue with it in 2.0.
The Relic weapon is this games ultimate prize... Why would you want all of them just handed to you?
I think what yoshi was reffering to was the way people will farm mythrils and salts in excess so that they ultimately end up getting there second / third relics just a couple of days after completeing there first because they can skip huge chunks of the quests the next times through.
It's nice that they're doing things like this since the world is coming to an end, but anyone that actually expects anything to stay past the last save date is delusional. This is a pointless thread.
He should also realize that getting a relic in a fast time is mainly based on your luck in double melding or how much funds you have to spend on someone elses luck and not much more. Everything else takes skill, but can be done quickly after that. There needs to be more objective based parts of the relic quest to make it actually take a more set amount of time, and not some POS imbalanced RNG sink in it that makes it take as long as it takes to get the melded weapon, which is... random.
Cute poll... I'd like to keep my relic, but no amount of praying to the Twelve will make it happen.
I hope the relic quest gets modified to be more interesting ARR
It's supposed to be. He's looking at unique completion rate and making adjustments from there. We know speed runs won't be required and hamlet defense (pre-req) is changing as well, he'd be crazy not to make changes to the over all quest, since 1.0's quest obviously had you redo every content in the game since there's so few of it, otherwise they could have made it like XI's quest:
1. Get broken weapon
2. Get currency
3. Get items
4. Kill an NM or two in the process
5. Turn shit in
6. Profit.
Instead, XIV's quest was literally forcing you to do every content even though it honestly served little purpose to do so, especially hamlet pre-req, since they couldn't introduce new methods they pretty much shoved old content down our throats lol.
Lolz
Butthurt EULA..
If I ever get the opportunity to make an EULA I'm going to add that in there somewhere >.>
I'm worried about the relic quest - if they dont change it we will still have a large amount of people getting relics.
If they do change it then thats another "easy mode" thing that 1.0 players got, it really skews what makes our characters powerful - almost like we just "bought" our characters XD. (Assuming what Yoshi says about making the game last longer is true)
Can certainly divide the casuals from normal players who actually want to play this game in the future in this thread.
SE could have put more effort into making the relic free giveaway more amusing for the community without offending the players who spent time obtaining them like giving the free relics funky noises or making them weird colours, the possibilities were there.
However, I think SE has a grand plan for equipping everyone with a relic for the fight showdown on the 11th. I can see it now, we will all have a relic and will be hitting Dalamud as it descends into Ezorea in a final desperate attempt to save ourselves.
I still would have found squeaky relics hilarious though.
1-6, plus they could make the relic quests unique for each job and follow up on the class quests. Like the Paladin guy with Oathkeeper goes to search for Curtana, and of course you join and find it broken, then you both set out on your quest to restore the weapon, finding clues and figureing out what you need and how to do it. They never needed a double meld portion or a seal drop portion, those just artifically make the quest longer, with random lengths of time. They needed more story behind it not by some random guy that happens to know about and be able to craft every relic weapon (tho that could have been left to the player, which would have added the time of leveling a craft or gather into the equasion), and more things that forced time to be taken to aquire the weapon, same amount of time for each weapon, but different methods.
It would be fine if they keep relic reborn for people who are currently workin on it, but still make new, more interesting quests with a much less random time-to-completion. I would rather abandon Relic Reborn to work on a more interesting and more realistically time consuming quest than something that depends more on your luck and/or wallet. They can keep ifrit as the final encounter if they really want to reuse content that badly.... but they could do better. It could be less stupid than Relic reborn, more interesting and in-depth than whatever XI had.
Yea but I dont think just changing the quest would be enough to make it interesing and really unique for each Job. Theres nothing that makes you wait, you could blow through everything in a few days. XI had quests that made you wait in them. I remember both the samarai job unlock quest and chocobo feeding quest as 2 of them. I didn't play long enough to experience others. But the samurai job quest was FAR more interesting than A Relic Reborn is, and it didn't give you a super powerful weapon for completion either! thats why I think they could do much better with quests for relics.
Relic requirements are too demanding for most to get, so why should those without kids, jobs and a personal life be the ones that get all the cool stuff? Not all of us have time to join a hardcore LS that grinds crap nonstop to master the requirements to get a Relic? Especially since the relic stats aren't even mind blowing (better than everything else, but not by enough to justify all the work involved.) Relic stuff in ffxiv is the same as relic stuff in ffxi, it's just busy work that is given to us instead of content. Hmmm, how can we keep those with no lives that have done everything busy? We'll give them busy work... This is a game, which is supposed to translate to fun, so why should we suck the fun out of the game with needless grinding and luck-based rewards?
The answer is easy, you don't want to do the work (that was designed to keep you from moving onto a different online rpg once you have done it all in ffxiv), then you don't get the relics. Well that brings it back to the original sentence, why should only those with no lives get the things that those of us that don't have as much time will never get, they both pay the same amount per month. Not exactly the best route to take when it comes to making most subscribers happy.
You know what the real solution is? Easy Mode. That's right, have separate servers, each with a difficulty counter. Easy, Normal, Hard. If you don't want to live in Eorzea, yet enjoy the game's content, then you go onto an Easy server, where you need just 2 people to clear Raids and primals, where no NM needs more than 2 people, a healer and a dd/tank. For those that don't like it, go to a hard server where you can't do anything without dealing with getting 8 people together and have things so hard that most ragequit and you have to find more people that will in turn ragequit themselves, not to mention tons of time explaining the battle to people who barely listen and then make us fail, which results in even more ragequitting and more explaining to new people, who in turn don't listen and you do this until you get lucky enough to find 7 others that can handle the battle. Why should we all have to suffer through crap like that if we don't enjoy crap like that. Let those that want to suffer, suffer...and let those of us that just want to play the game, play it without having to do a boss 10-30 times just to get ahead in the storyline or to get a weapon. Seriously, I don't need to be kept busy, I have enough to do, I just want to enjoy the game and it's lore, not it's attempt to keep me from playing other things by making the smallest thing take forever, this isn't FFXI, it's supposed to be a different game.
Here's an example, my wife and I have 2 characters each (4 total,) for 3 of them we cleared To Kill A Raven on the first few tries, but with the final character it took (I kid you not) 34 tries (I kept track on a piece of paper, so I'm not exaggerating.) Having to replace those that ragequit after nearly every attempt. You would think I was happy once it cleared on the 34th run, like I'm supposed to feel like I've accomplished something or earned my reward. Nope, I was so sick of FFXIV by the time that I skipped the cutscene afterward the kill, told the party tyvm and then shut the game down for 4 straight days. Does that sound like the response someone would have after accomplishing something? No it's the response of someone who reached a point that the game no longer produced any fun what-so-ever and had to get away from the game to avoid quitting the game altogether. Can someone explain to me where the "fun" is in that? Seriously, unless you enjoy being abused, where is the enjoyment?
Easy Mode servers ftw!!! Let's put the fun back into this game by not making us waste time, let only those that have no value associated with their free time be the ones that grind, so the rest of us can just enjoy the 14th main Final Fantasy as a game instead of a social grind-fest.
