Maybe they're, oh I dunno, having fun with the actual gameplay?

Would /pray motion work the same as /pray? Most people on my server preferred the aggressive approach and I felt a little bad filling up their battle logs with my emotes.
I know, right?
This whole post-save gameplay thing is really doing a great job of identifying why people play the game in the first place, which certainly colors their attitude toward the game and how others play it.
One group only seems to value the reward or payoff. Because the rewards/payoffs of this post-save period of the game aren't permanent, they don't see the point in logging in at all.
The other group sees the events unfolding as enjoyable and are logging in to have fun with it. They don't require rewards to justify logging in and playing.
Funny how those two separate mindsets pervade so many of the discussions/debates on these forums, and color people's views on where the game is or should be going.
Hmmm even in-game itself... I find myself at a loss at what to do sometimes... when I see people just bash at every other enemy that appears, even without the possibility of the enemy going down. Sometimes I join them, sometimes I stand at the side and pray instead, not even knowing if that will or will not work. We're at the golem phase now in Masamune and I'm taking a break from fighting...
It's a strange kind of fun for now, but I'm sure the rewards for staying on in Eorzea to brave the impending apocalypse will be something intangible and definitely a memory for us as we move on to 2.0.Then we can brag to the newbies there that we did this and did that to save the world LOL
Oh my gods, this is amazing. :D
Are the system messages new?
It doesn't seem to be working today ; ;
This morning is the first I've seen them, but I haven't been on much. Thanks.
On Sarga, we got the Grid being attacked. Found them at Conjurer Guild and went back out to shout range to bring people in. Going well!
Way to go, Sargatanas! I'm gonna log in and try this right now!
Has anyone tried praying with their deity ring on? Think it makes a difference?
I see most people wearing their ring now. I don't know if it has an impact or not. I'm inclined to think it functions simply. Like, /pray will work on certain mobs that are unreasonable to kill and won't work on lower level mobs. There's probably just a certain quota of /pray that's required. So, when many people pray the mobs go down in seconds, but if you're doing it alone it's still possible, just takes many /pray.
I think /pray motion will work exactly the same way. I just went to the stone for my deity and used /pray motion. Exactly the same thing happens there when you use /pray or /pray motion. Target drops and it says "You pray solemnly." in the log. It's like motion is ignored completely.
Spent a good while in a full party and a LS full of people, like 2 dozen, all praying together at a Magitek armor. Didn't do a thing. *sigh* I'm not spending hours of my life logged in just to stand still and spam an emote. >_<
You know, I always get a kick out of reading remarks like this; those that imply that somehow FFXIV hasn't been fun at all. Then I go and check out the history of the character on the account, to find that - as in your case - your first achievement was back on 9/25/2010, and you have almost all classes/jobs to 50 - including DoL and DoH classes. On top of whatever other milestones you've achieved along the way.
If you were someone who barely played at all in all that time, didn't get very far and had made only moderate progress, I could maybe say "Okay, they maybe were trying to enjoy it and were struggling along". But when you've done as much as you have, and stuck with the game as long as you have, it just seems very disingenuous to come out with such a cynical sounding statement as what you just said there.
Certainly you enjoyed the gameplay enough to have kept with it all this time. Unless you're a genuine masochist. Are you just trying to sound clever and cynical? Relentlessly negative? Is your cup always half empty?
I'm not just pointing you out, it's a lot of people on here I notice doing this. I knew someone back in XI who played for about 6 years without a break - and complained about how horrible and un-fun the game was every single day of it. I used to question him all the time too about how he could possibly continue playing a game so much and for so long that he seemed to hate with a passion. He never really had an answer.
I just don't understand that.
I think we've made some kind of breakthrough on Balmung
We had Magiteks up for about 3 hours..some ppl from our LS went out to pray at the stones and some of us stayed in Uldah. A few seconds after said ppl said they prayed to the stones the mobs would drop to 0%. This has happened about 4 times so far.
Anyone have a video of this working? I still don't believe it's true.
Balmung is stuck trying to kill a 73 Buffalo.
We think praying only works on ?? NMs.
Still might need to go out and about.
So far having no luck of it on Excalibur... I even went to my own stone to pray.
I think you pray to the stones in the order of Living on a Prayer. I also agree that praying to the stones only affects "??" NMs. Some other theories people have is certain monsters are only affected by a certain deity. Sorry I only have proof through word of mouth, but other servers should test this out too, it only took one person to wipe out a couple of those NMs by using pray.
I still think the mobs either 1) Glitch and die or 2) are on some sort of time and die randomly. I've seen three Number 128's die and no body was praying. I've seen people spam pray endlessly and eventually something dies...and they figure "must be because I prayed".
Meh, not sure but I think pray doesn't work.
Ugh. So either you sit there doing /pray nonstop generally with no positive result, or you hit them and they instakill you. This is not encouraging me to play the game at all. Whatever happened to the fun of getting 20 people together to kill a mob or two? This is what should be happening right now. :(
Just a suggestion, but maybe Piety has an effect on the /prayer success?
The Twelve only intervene periodically. Just because they will kill some mobs for you, doesn't mean its time to give up fighting altogether. They won't fight the WHOLE battle for you. Try some prayers for a bit, and if the thing doesn't die, pull out your weapons and draw some blood.
Atm its working on ragnarok 100% of the time syncing /pray the more with rings the better
Sure seems to work on Hyperion. o.o
When are you getting these buffs, and are you visiting the stones first? We're still trying to figure it out here on excaibur
