In the meanwhile you could see the new AWESOME Hobbit trailer, out today. :3
In the meanwhile GW2 has:
90.96% Score based on 25 reviews (gamerankings) ...
I really hope that they're going to fix the frame rate issue in the trailer at least..
(Cuz the video montage itself isn't that great... 90%+ of old footage.. )
Frame rate issues aren't really that big of a deal. I mean you can see them here too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNtB5DoJ6OI
The problem is - unlike in the video quoted above - SE have yet to really show anything worth seeing or getting hyped up about (which last time i checked was the point of a trailer?). So there's basically no redeeming features on display to alleviate whatever misgivings people would have toward the technical aspects (like fps rate) of a game that's obviously still in alpha. There's nothing really to draw anyone to the game besides slightly downgraded Version 1.0 graphics.
*facepalm* /shrug
I hope so, some of the frame drop sections were horrid.
It also had that terrible, TERRIBLE emotional storm of faces bit which makes absolutely no sense just put there on it's own (hell it looked terrible the first time around).
Really the one redeeming thing was the music, everything else about the trailer was either seen before or sub-par.
Waitin' for t' new one so I can share since its Talk Like a Pirate Day and I want t' post ARR on Facebook!
i hope Bayohne, Rukkirii, ... have pushed the emergency button
orz missed the new trailer
This.
I have to say that if I were an outsider to XIV I wouldn't be excited about this trailer for those reasons.
As a XIV enthusiast it still makes me cringe a bit because of those non-forest areas look the way they do and even as a player I don't avtually see any visible changes to the battle system aside from that now-milked overdrive.
It's cool but not news headlines cool or preorder day 1 buy-cool.
Also pr time is running out. XIII games were promoted for almost a year but XIV has few months to release.
News Flash! 2.0 has never had a chance to accomplish 'preorder day 1 buy-cool.' Never even remotely a consideration. They are trying to improve a horribly conceived and executed game. Oh by the way, in under 2 years. "Great result" is out of the equation. All that SE can hope for is a redeeming of the game. Bringing it to the level of XIII (not critically acclaimed) is the cap. This perspective brought to you from a fan, btw.
People need to reset their expectations about this game because they are getting unrealistic, again. Major systems, battle, armoury, class/jobs, etc will all remain relatively unchanged. Throw in better servers, some FF classic elements, and standard MMORPG quests/progression and there you have it.
Those expecting some innovative gameplay should look elsewhere.
Never said I expected that. In fact I agree with pretty much everything you said there.Quote:

Unless I see it and play it isn't there. That's why I don't buy this "oh that's only temp assets they're showing in an international trailer"-stuff.
It looks as if the shading for characters up close are sort of blocky. I'm going to miss the look and level of detail we currently have. But want this sweet gameplay at the same time. I'm torn between the two! ; ;
Indeed I do, but I'm not going to turn a blindeye to anything. "Oh they may downgrade the graphical appeal of the game but it progresses the game!"...So it progresses the game you'll willingly overlook anything? This is what people hated in the 90s even though gaming was still young, people hated developers not sticking with standards and giving us gimmicky games that were all hit or miss for the sake of trying to not be an exact clone of x game. This is why the said hits were good because rather than taking steps back, they got on the same level and took steps forward.
Would you praise SE if FF Versus XIII was far inferior to FFXII or even XIII "but it has airships and an open world!" ?
Basic on logic I've seen, you can't have both even though many other offline and online games try to do that.
I'm the first person to point out things that I think are legitimately wrong in ARR. hell I had to deal with a ton of flack because I thought the textures looked really bad initially.
But then there's being overly negative about everything. It cheapens the actual things that need fixing, because SE are looking to re-implement arrows for the minority.
Lots of posts for a video that was taken down by SE after being up for a very short period of time. If we got footage of Yoshi scratching his ass on a video that wasn't meant to be released, could we discuss that for 7 hours too?
Jeeeez at least wait until we get the one we are supposed to, THEN trash it. There is an order here people !
This team sometimes creates videos with crappy frame rates and quality, but this is an actual trailer. /facepalm
For crying out loud, the development team has reworked an ENTIRE game in ONE YEAR! Many may not... but I for one am going to cut them some slack.
BAH! I wasnt able to watch this trailer...but I'm nervous TO see it with all the negativity flying around here...but then again this is the lodestone...
/lallarage!
