Was very happy to see the following question answered in the Live Letter VI. It was relevant so i wanted to post here with the update.
Quote:
Q21: Would you be able to provide us with more information on the ARR Collector's Edition?
A21: The Collector's Edition may come with some in-game items... Don't worry, we do have plans to do something for the 1.0 players that have purchased the original Collector's Edition!
There was nothing major for CE i wanted, BUT if the ARR CE is good enough (has a figurine or something of that sort ) I will buy it just to get said item. xD
I could also wait to get it on E-bay also I guess..
Since my husband is going to start playing when ARR launches, we'll just get him the CE edition so this doesn't really affect me.
I've seen the mug that the EU's got after it came out of a dishwasher... yeah I'm not too offended that I didn't get that lol..
sidenote: surprised that something this silly actually launched a heated debate... the natives must be getting restless!
I would be surprised if the new CE didn't come with a irresistible social pet.
You also got early access to the game. CE release was 10 days before the Official start. That is why many purchased it. Also, I'm not understanding your point, they basically said you will be getting something else in ARR for purchasing a CE of 1.0...which in all honesty they didn't need to do.
PS: they already said ALL special code items tied to our accounts carry over into ARR (such as Onion Helms)
It would be kewl if it came with a Phoenix hat since the game has risen from the ashes of 1.0
Anyway, this was an old thread. I only wanted to do a quick update. All i was really hoping for is that Yoshi-P acknowledge the 1.0 CE owners, which he now has. I could care less what it is we get but its very nice to know he remembered us. Like most others, I will probably get a ARR CE for the PS3 for my son ho wants to play with me.
Thanks Yoshi!
lol, the early access was not really useful. Not sure if you got the early access or not but I couldnt play it for almost two weeks after the official release due to how buggy and broken everything was. Some people may have gotten in but even if they did they were fighting the toughest enemy in 1.0, the lag monster.
If you read my last post I hope that will answer your question "what's your point". Just to add on to it, the only thing that anyone really got any use out of from their CE's was the authenticator. I really didnt expect much, just wanted them to acknowledge that the majority of what people payed for in the 1.0 CE was a huge let down and hoped that they would at least allow us to upgrade from the 1.0 CE to the ARR CE. I would be fine with paying a little extra.
You got a week early entrance, the Certificate is really cool.. (I have it framed in my room)
However...I got duped out of my in game items. They went to my since cancelled beta account (because I didn't know you were supposed to reactivate it).
I'm hoping they give me a second chance there..
Yep I find putting myself in hospital due to drinking out of a toxic coated "mug" really cool and useful!! That thing was bloody poisonous lol...
Anyway I don't get this self entitlement crap people seem to feel just lately. You got what you paid for back then, if SE decide to give us guys the ARR CE In-game items I'd say we should be greatful tbh.
Expecting more than even that just cuz you bought the game way back when just shows your personal greed and self-entitlement issues tbh. And to be blunt, its not a pleasant trait to show the world!
what's about the regular edition? lol
"hey shaddup Shougun, its not the CE"
>.>; ;
The regular and CE had their own special item codes (Goggles, Onion Helm) will this happen again?
If not does it mean regular will have to buy the whole 2.0 CE or will their be a digital upgrade option?
Always wash those type of thermos cups before using it the first time. (^_^ ) But, i know what you mean... When you drink directly from the cup, you will get a metal after taste. So, i would pour my coffee in a regular mug first. Makes quite a difference.
I've read a lot of posts where people "demanded" some kind of compensation (like a new CE from ARR) because they've bought a CE version of the game for 80 bucks, decided that the game a bunch of crap but still decided to "stick around".
(The following is not directed to anyone specific, but to the general customer)
The thing is, a Collectors Edition of a game is a package of a game which contains more then just a game. The package contains items which a collector would like to collect. In the European version of the Collectors edition, you got the game, a Security Token, a Thermos Cup, a Cloth Map an in-game item (the Onion Helm) and an Artwork book.
The game itself is exactly the same for those who purchased the Standard version of the game. It doesn't really matter if you think the game was broken or not, you will have exactly the same game as everyone else. Just because you've purchased a Collectors Edition, doesn't mean that you can demand something extra when ARR is released because you've already got the items that made the package a Collectors Edition.
For me, the security token was the reason i bought the Collectors Edition, not the other items. Those are just novelties that came with the package.
(Again, the above was not directed to anyone specific)
At least, the way i read the OP was that Rosewood was disappointed that (s)he got a certificate while we europeans got a thermos cup instead. Well, i can imagine that. I personally would also have preferred a Thermos Cup instead of a Certificate. But, i can tell you that i've seen worse CE packages, like just a handful of postcards for a CE version that would cost 15 bucks more then the regular version. (^_^ )
That being said, Yoshi-p mentioned the following in the Live Letter broadcasted today (like ZakarnRosewood mentioned earlier):
I think it's fantastic that Yoshi-p would even consider doing something like this, but please... Don't expect too much. It will probably be something like a special minion or other type of in game item. (^_^ )
I wonder if they knew and will give awards to those who have onion helm or how else would they tell that they are going to give 1.0 CEs something more o.o/
To be quite honest the travel mug was not cool nor useful, I used it once and once only because even with lid securely on it will leak everywhere.
I loved my FFXI map, used it constantly and still have it. I was so hyped to hear we would get a cloth map for XIV but unfortunately it was very small and the print was blurry. I would love to see a nice good quality map in the FFX|V 2.0 CE
Hopefully vanity slots will allow us to wear our CE lvl 1 gears more flexibly ^_^
Are you asking how SE knows who had an original CE version? It's part of our version code that happens when we log in. (those numbers you use to see in the top left hand corner). Also, it's registered to our SE account. (The registration numbers for standard accounts would be different). So no, you don't need to have your Onion Helm for them to know.
Yeah, "travel mug" ("tumbler"): not so useful. I thought about using it as a pen & pencil cup, but never wanted to get liquid near it, especially with that leather(ish?) wrap.
I suppose it makes sense that SE wants to give v1 purchasers the same in-game items that ARR purchasers get (both standard and collector's editions), but I really don't expect anything else. If there are cool physical items with the ARR CE, I'll consider buying another.
The only thing I would ask SE is to consider making available a Meteor Survivor shirt (and maybe knee socks :)) for purchase, to anyone who registered v1.

P.S. The JP CE was similar to the EU one, but had an art book instead of a satiny/microfiber map. (info)
P.P.S. The cloth map I got with Pirates of the Caribbean Online pre-order was the best map. Printed on canvas, rolled in a plastic tube, numbered limited edition. Would love to see something like that again.
I find this to be more of a sign of a persons unpleasant traits moreso that what I was looking for. I have clarified my stance several times throughout the thread and even very recently (4 posts before yours on the same day), but since it seems people are getting the wrong impression I wish to clarify.
Fist, here's that post,
To expand on this I was thinking more for the situation where there is one person in the house that plays and bought the CE from 1.0. Now ARR comes out and he would like some of the bonuses from that package too but has no need for the extra Reg code. It would be nice if people were provided an option where they could purchase a digital upgrade to get the digital extras contained in the CE or even an option where they could upgrade to the physical extras without the extra codes.
I think people would be more than willing to pay a little extra for the new CE. If they did not decide to make any such offers I would not be bothered or upset. I do not feel entitled, I know I got what I payed for and I made use of it, I'm not eating an entire meal then complaining it was bad and asking for a new free meal. To continue that analogy I ate most of my meal then was told the chef has just updated the menu to include a desert with the meal I just purchased, I only want to upgrade my meal for the price of the desert and not have to buy the whole meal again just to get the desert. (what's with me and food analogies?)
As my above quoted post says, I will be purchasing the ARR CE anyway. This just means I wont have to steal my son's bonus item codes. ;)
1.0 CE was pretty lame. I'm not even using the security token that came with it because (surprisingly) my token from XI is still going strong, bought when they were first released. I don't even know what I did with the XIV token lol. I used to actually write in that journal thing about my progress in the game, but eventually stopped. The DVD was chock full of stuff already on youtube. It would have been nice to have something more useful.
The problem, and you're going to maybe keep having it, is we see the OP, don't check the date and think...WTH? they just said... I made a similar mistake myself (my bad). I know you tried to do the right thing, by necro-bumping and old tread on the same topic, but it happens so rarely that people handle things the proper way on these forums, that you confused us all :P. Which is why people keep replying back to your OP and not, your amended 'YAY!'
Before this becomes a 'Well they should read the whole thing first... True, but it's a several page topic, and the only relevant news is in the last couple posts...so without a marker that says 'Start Here for current posts!' it's inevitable people keep commenting on the OP.
The OP edit might help, but it might confuse more too... /meh. It happens.
GUILTY!! Oops My bad also :(
I read the first few pages without looking at the dates (oops) so never actually read your rectified responses in regards to your OP.
For that I apologise!
Damn Necro-Bumps confusing my little Lala sized Brain.....
Being an NA player, I bought the CE for the security token and the in-game items (my journal remains pristine and unused). I had no idea how big a let-down the onion helm would be. I wore it for a while just out of stubbornness, LOL!
Honestly, what I really expect out of a CE nowadays is a security token, a soundtrack, and truly useful in-game items. I would like to see 1.0 CE holders get a unique in-game title or a minion, something that would further differentiate them from those with Legacy status or ARR CE holders.
The correct paradigm for the verb to pay is:
pay / paid / paid
That is all.
This goes to Kinseykinz too:
Thanks and sorry for the confusion, I realized i needed to update the OP, I hope in doing so i can save some confusion and even left the original version there for those prolific readers on our forums. I hope the edit makes things a little more clear. Sorry for the necro-bump but i hate making hundreds of threads for the same topic and just wanted to update this one. Thanks for reading!
