Summoner a whole disappointment for pet-class lovers?

i'm not discussing but we all figured out that the SMN pict is the actually Summon Spirit that is along side the summoner right? The spirit is the actual summon that fights with you >.>/ LESS QQ please

Summoner coming along with one-hit attack "summon spells"?
on the artwork it does not look like a permanent pet, more like a ghostly spell version which works like a regular spell.

are you disappointed about the announcement as well? First i was "aaww freaking awesome"... but then i was like... "oooh just 4 prime versions, why? no shiva? no ramuh to summon?" then i was like "oh maybe they just end up as super animated spells in the end?"

i know that its maybe too early to talk about that.. but i dislike the first impressions and informations we got so far.

really ..... why would ARCANIST have pet and not summoner? do you really think that would make sense to have the advance job not summon and more boring then the class? the talk show said they will summon the primal essence to fight alongside you not cast a spell they never said it will be a one shot hit the reason why the image looks like that is because they still haven't finished summoner yet it still being developed so they still don't know how the essence will look so they just made it look like that to see what they are trying to do "Summon primal essence" but they arent done creating it yet. you should just wait lol i dont think yoshi is dumb do that the overall final fantasy population loves summoner. Basically it will be a essence of the primal roaming around with you like XI trust me they said it in the talk show re watch the video they never said it will be a one shot skill which trust me THEY WILL GET RAGED BY THE COMMUNITY and ill quit 2.0 since Summoner is my favorite class. Did u check the question topic where yoshi will answer in the live letter on 9/14? 70% question are on summoner. Trust me they will be pet not no 1 shot skill that the dumbest thing they would do.

Says who? You? I think summoning primal shapes out of thin air is way more badass than having Evee chew on mobs for me. That being said I wouldn't mind either way.

Are you slow? summoner is a job the Arcanist is a class so your first reply doesnt make sense at all? therefore your just a troll and your retarded why would i care about punctuation is there a rule where i have to put it?? To wich I replied that for the job to NOT have the pet arcanist has or not summoning another pet is not necessarily more boring, depending on how they implement it.

You're the one who's jumping to conclusions and, even worse, calling quite offensive names, which is something I personally don't do nor tolerate, so that's it for me.

Based on how this might work, I'd assume you summon an essence of the primal and imbue that into Carbuncle. So that gives you the same pet with different strengths/weakness, as well as, goes with the story line of the primals being more like gods then player toys (FFXI). If this is true, then my question is how long can a player summon the strength of a primal for? I don't want to manage summoning through MP Drains so they feel more apart of my player then just an ability or a spell.

Because in Final Fantasy 1 - 9 the things you summoned stayed in battle until the end?

If I remember correctly, they did.

I think it's a fine idea.. as a summoner you aren't supposed to be able to summon the primals themselves. Aren't they demi-gods?

Remember nearly everything here is an assumption. Don't get too caught up because they haven't been released yet. Feel free to complain when you can actually play them and see how they turn out.

From what it seems Carbuncle will act as your abilities in SMN. So when you cast a spell, the essence of the spell is embued in Carby and it's used to function as the spell.. who knows? x)

I hope there is no mp drain while having your summon out.only drains when you do a magic ability from a blood pack. unless the summon will have it's own mp.

I think you mean 3-9? anyways think the summoning system from 3-9 wouldent work on mmo, maybe X or XII.I think XI could had been better but was fun to have a full body summon and i hope it the same here but better.

The job isn't out yet, with little info about how it will be, and some are already whining about it based on personal assumptions? SE should consider renaming this game Final Fantasy XIV - A whiner Fantasy instead of ARR.

yeah seem's like it. I just hope it's a full body summon and not half summon coming out of the book.^-^

It sounds like the essences will work like summons did in every FF prior to X. Carbuncle will be a real "pet" though, and it's what summoners used 99% of the time in XI anyway, expect you'll be throwing out essence summons too. The class will be about SUMMONING, instead of some generic MMO pet class like it was in XI. If anything, I wish they'd remove Carbuncle.

This feels much more FFish, and we won't be subjected to seeing hundreds of Ifrit, Shiva, and the others following every noob who plays SMN around and getting owned by bunnies.
