Uh. How does someone's gender being the basis for your remark help your point that it wasn't sexist?

Kilta, your first contact with me was to bash me and slap my wrist for making a new thread. As such, it annoyed me much worse than if I had known and talked to you for awhile before. But I'm willing to let bygones be bygones as long as we can both stop the personal attacks.
Hmm. Interesting.
If you're referring to crankiness due to menstruation, it does not happen to every female. If you're referring to menstruation itself, it does not happen to every female.
If you attempt to insult someone based on their gender, it is sexist, just like if you attempt to insult someone based on their race, it is racist.
You, however, are a self-confessed troll (too bad your confession was deleted with the rest of your thread earlier), and I will not be responding to you further.
Self-confessed Troll? Im pretty sure I dont live under a bridge trying snatch up runaway children, and its a joke get over it.
I Am also pretty sure I am not a Sexist, because I make one comment, ONE, I am presumed to be a sexist? Hmmm thats a pretty good argument you have there. So your trying to Stereotype me with a group of people, based on One comment. K?
It does kinda lose something out of context, I'll admit! <_<
So I have a free pass to call people a racist or sexist slur because it takes more than one slur to be prejudice? Maybe you should come to Detroit, and try using that logic on my dude hanging out on the street corner with his buddies, then report back to me if they buy your argument that "one comment" of a prejudiced nature is okay. : D
his comment wasn't sexist even woman joke about the periods and being a b*tch. Watch cheslea lately sometime. Or betty white. I found it funny i'm anti sexist.
It was by definition sexist, because it was a comment based on a stereotype of women (as trinta correctly pointed out). You can argue you find it acceptable as a woman (I know specifically ones who don't find it acceptable - side note, though). You cannot argue it wasn't based on a gender stereotype.
Edit: SE apparently agrees it was inappropriate as well, having deleted it.
a good % of woman do have wicked bad mood swings. Not just on their peroid But during that other time. Honestly soo many comidec woman joke about it, its just better to laugh then take something too serious.
But really Why fight in a thread? trin pretty much put her nose into something. If he made fun of her using that joke that is understandable. But he didn'r so really should be an issue.
But more importently what is the point of having a fight in a thread of ffxiv about woman being B*tches during that time of the mnth.
Not sure what you're trying to imply here. I was just waiting for him to explain how his sexist comment wasn't sexist, which he failed to do.
And there is no point in having the topic in a thread about FFXIV, which is why I'm glad it's gone now. Let it go, sweetie.
Wow. I'm gone a couple of hours and we're talking about women's hormones. How do I miss this stuff? ;)
@Keith_Dragoon
Anyway. The point was I trying to make, is that while dying might seem to need to have a higher consenquence to you, and even to me in my own way, why is it wrong for someone else to have a more lax attitude about it? How is it bad for the game? Other than starting flame wars. :)
Its not BAD but its not helping the already bad party tactics flowing about. As mentioned somewhere in this thread or another people have cure on their action bar but won't use it to maintain their own lives or that of their party. This specific issue could be cured by drastically revamping the job/class system but a easier fix that causes less drama (less not none) would be to impliment a deterence to dying.
Also in a general since there is nothing casual about dying or being KO'd in real life (casts barfira) and it should atleast be somewhat severe in-game. Now I don't mean ANYWGERE near what would happen IRL but just some sort of penalty other then 3 mins of weakness that barely even effects much other then max hp/mp and stam regen.
Hm. So in the first paragraph, you're saying that it would help people to be better team players. Maybe. As I stated earlier, having the xp loss probably did shape me as a gamer. So I think it probably does build character. But people still have to want that. A lot of people play games to destress, myself included at times.
On the second paragraph, I imagine that was the original idea with death lol. But other than above, or for the thrill and adventure, it isn't really isn't something that has to be. It's a way of saying, "game over, you lost." really.
Now, for the record, I did say in the other thread that I wouldn't be too upset with having a points loss penalty as long as it was small, but I'd still prefer for a different method. However, there's enough people completely against it that I would be surprised if they actually go that far. A stiffer penalty of some type seems to be favorable with a lot of people though. It's hard to say for sure without counting all the posts.
True I can care either way but I lean more towards SP loss then other stuff cause it has been done before, it puts enough in play to deter people from dting because it doesn't matter.
I play for fun, destress and such and I (just me) don't see a small SP loss without the level down ontop of it could be stressful. I don't recall casting my official vote in the thread but I would PREFER a harsher penalty but nothing devestating to anyone.
just as long as the harsher penalty isn't to harsh. Gamers of all game levels play mmo. People sometimes are not that great with video games but enjoy playing them. Like myself, i'm not that epic of a gamer. I have a hard time playing some games on the hardest settings. Not everyone is an expert player. So a too harsh penalty will scare ppl away.
LOL I play on normal or hard at most and feel accomplished, I know the feeling.
As far as penalty goes what they had in FFXI was not harsh at all unless you were truely "new" and would get raised and run back into more aoe for another faceplant. 2400 XP/SP (65+) isn't too bad and this is at a higher level not at the start, at these levels you have access to raise which reduces the loss by alot.
you also had key items that further reduced the loss, these things helped lessen the impact but still steer players to play less zerg-like and more tactically.
I didn't mind ffxi exp loss on death much untill I got to 70..... and my rdm deleved 2 times...... thanks to maat ; ; I pulled all nighters backline healing just to get 70 asap to join a sky LS ; ; only to loose it ; ; I stopped playing rdm after that ; ; And I did it the way everyone else did it. >.> And wasn't a bad rdm....
If you don't mind a Wow video I have a wegame.com video about how I played WoW as a rogue. It set to montly crue music. Its called ninjakari ninja skills (not looting). Kinda just a taste on how well i am at mmo. I also have a funny video for a wegame contest they had listing the worst job in an mmo. I picked ffxi whm XD but during the filming I kept getting attacked which added to the humor. No VO for it as I had no mic.
The name is from a guild on one of the mud I played. It was under the monk archtype and your weapon was a chain. You could add barbs on it or a sickle scythe. Wrap the chain around your fist and punch ppl. hehee
anyway.... sorry for the ramble.
Thats why I say without the deleveling, there was no positive effects from deleveling that the exp loss did not already add. I personally have never had that problem cause I never do anything without a fat buffer and I am a WHM main so only 300 xp per death for me.
Every game has a penalty for dying
WoW: 10-15% dmg to equiped gear.
Anarchy Online: lose ALL unsaved experience and regain it piece by piece as you relevel.
FFXI: 10% of your total exp needed for your current level, caps at 2400.
Tibia: (old as dirt with IMO WORST death penalty EVER) Drops ALL items in your inventory with a 20% chance to drop 1-2 of your equiped items.
Some were more harsh then others, some weren't harsh enough */stare WoW*.
In the end of the day Chezen calms the rage and turned this thread into a decent disccusion >.>;
How on earth can you have so many views on the game if you have not played it? I suggest playing the game first before adding any more post.Quote:
Due to PC issues I can't play it yet.
Seriously, it's like a right handed person complaining about left handed tin openers
Oh my god. Kilta is back. /melt
but also, what this topic supposed to be about?
What the...?
who is necroing dead threads?!
gifthorse most likely its what he has been doing for the past few days. Causing trouble like usual....
Oh my Loard Jeesus please don't tell me a 6-month-old Kiltah thread was just raised from the cold unforgiving depths of the Final Fantasy XIV forum archives.
Lol now I finally get to see the Kilta that I've been 'associated' with XD
3000 posts and only two gold medals to her name. At least I'm beating her in those regards (b'.')b
And actually it was Neptune that necro'd the thread :p
That... would make quite a bit of sense.
I don't think gifthorse is kilta though, from what i heard kilta was just constant never-ending spam where as gifthorse posts at a more 'normal' speed. Same goes for Azury, plus Azury is friendly for the most part, she's just kind of... extreme in her views about things. I think she see's things as black or white, there is no grey.
