Maybe the option should be given to toggle the "!" (Exclamation mark) on and off?
I agree with Roiken, I got a concern it might be to hand held. Hope it wont be to linear!
I love all your morons arguing with someone who thinks he knows what 2.0 will be, when clearly he (nor anyone else) does not. Feed the troll more, idiots.
Gah, he is using his two accounts to like all of his own posts. I will leave you all to it.
You do realize that "exploration" was completely planned by the devs and you were funneled to those areas right? Each map/area, just as now in XIV (especially with leves), all levled up with your character. The higher you went, the more equivalent areas opened up but they were all connected to the previous leveling area.
Aside from that, you're still going to be doing the same thing. Killing endless amounts of mobs except this time, the mob might actually be different and challenge you instead of just another tier of crab/raptor/*insert easy to kill with no dangerous moves mob* that grind parties gravitate too.
haven't you guys figured out that roiken is just an attention seeker (to use a more appropriate term)? all you have to do is... not react to him.
Deep down, we hope that a little nugget of sanity will fertilize that brain of his.
Right now there are options, You can do leves, dungeons, mob exp grind. Leves are for solo people! AWESOME! mob exp grind! AWESOME, dungeons for who wants to do em! AWESOME! Heck they even added exp to quests as well! AWESOME.
So what I'm asking for is keep leves for people have short amount of time to get on, for solo people. Keep exp grinds but make them more engaging, don't let it be an aoe spamfest(BORING!). Those silly quests you guys want, keep em! Great! just don't make them a better way to level.
I'm not stupid, it's WAY to late to change the quest system, but it's not to late to change exp rate of mobs and make them entertaining to fight.
Personally I can't say I'm glad with how the quest leveling sounds myself.
I guess I'll be "That guy" who is gimp because he levels outside the quest system exploring whatever open world they give to us in 2.0 while everyone else has fun standing in lineups to jump servers for dungeon finder.
Despite what Rokien's intentions may be, threads like this make people think and come up with alternative solutions that could end up being popularized/used later, so I don't think it's all bad.
That being said, no one definitely knows how 2.0 will end up; not even Yoshi. Speculation is nice and fun, but let's not treat it as an absolute.
the questing is what separates role playing games from the rest though, it's the tool used to tell the story of the area.
...and speaking of story telling - order is usually important.. you start at the beginning, work your way through the middle, then get the end.
there's a reason you had to play through all the GC quests in order before fighting darnus - would've ruined the story to not play through them in order.
...and about square repeating the mistakes of other games? ...honestly their biggest faux pas was constantly trying to reinvent the wheel. the biggest complaint during beta/early release was how they tried to put their own unique spin on every little detail of the game - stuff that's already well established in the genre (even their own ffxi)
squares refusal to repeat things that other games have done is the reason we have market wards and retainers instead of an auction house - for starters.
anyone who was around back then can probably remember the plethora of other things they tried to make unique.. (fatigue, stamina, parley to name a few...)
If you're not happy with the fact that the dev team basically remade a shit-stain of a game from the ground up in a year's time, you need to stop posting.
I wonder if you could possibly be any more hyperbolic?Quote:

I think there needs to be a balance, an option to either way.
If you spent half as much time grinding in the open world in v1 as you do grinding your post count you'd have everything to 50 and not need to worry about what leveling will be like five months from now.
Yoshida has said that the best way to level is to do a little bit of everything. Doing only quests will be as inefficient as doing only open world grinding. You're just blowing things out of proportion as usual.
If "mmo on rails" makes Rokien leave FFXIV in 2.0... it's the best thing Yoshi-P has done since taking over. Miracle if you ask me....
But I know better, Rokien is so emotionally invested in FFXIV that regardless of what is released or not, or the nature of 2.0, he will be playing. He will also continue to post threads in these forums like he's done for 2 years.
Truth be told, he's not creating topics of conversation, he's just seeking attention..... with that said.. i will no longer contribute to his 15 minutes of fame...
Last time I'm posting in a Rokien created thread.
/waves goodbye
Zell pretty much summed it up.
So like...almost any other RPG ever?
You have a storyline to follow that brings you to differents places. What FF XIV is doing is not to have a break in the main scenario quests. Very different from the "you need to lvl up 25 levels in some other place before you can do the next quest!". People who wants to enjoy the story without any break can do it, and people who dosn't can also do it since now we have a vast world to explore and probably sidequests and other content.
Exactly as a lot of other games tell you to go here but you can sidetrack to do other things. As always your shitty design choices alianate the preferences of a lot of players, while the current one acomodates almost any type of player except you and some more.
Oh no! This means you'll have to quit the game and stop posting on the forums! So saaaaad :(
I apologize for being dramatic, I will have faith and wait for 2.0, then I will judge.
Guild leves are on rail's already, and guess what, so is every quest/misson you do. Look at your journal and you will see a little white bubble showing you where to go. Now they gave us the convenience of not having to go to journal and keep re-opening it to find out where to go.
Pretty sure you only quoted half the question, again. No surprise there, you read what you want to read anyways. Yoshida said the first 15 levels would be a linear quest line with bread crumbs because all the quests center around teaching the player the game basics and how to use their class and the Armoury System. Good job on putting yet another quote way out of context though. You should look into a career in politics.
edit: Oh here you go>
In current FFXIV aside from quests there are guild leve where you take an order to do something, for those how will you adjust them?
Y: For basic you just need to follow the quests, that how it’s made so we have it where you can’t start guild leve till you’re level 10. Level 10 is a point where you first graduate from beginner and that is where you can first take on leves. For those who don’t like read texts or those don’t mind repeating you can play the leve’s
I see
Y: There are lots of contents to choose from so we have it set where the obtainable EXP isn’t good just by doing one. For those who want to gain EXP efficiently I think it’s best to do different stuff equally.
do different stuff equally
do different stuff equally
though just occurred to me, someone should start a petition to ban Rokien from the forums.

Rokien, you just don't like ANYTHING about this game. Why don't you quit?
He gets his entertainment value from annoying people on the forums. In all honesty, I doubt the forum moderators haven't taken notice to the fact that most people disagree with the topics he brings up along with their general annoyance with him. It is quite unlikely they have taken a single thread he has made this far to Yoshi-P. After all, how many official responses has he gotten in his plethora threads?
lol.
