This is the official forums tho, It exist soley for discussions and criticism. And even if its kinda slow the criticism does reach them. That's the reason why there are changes here and there, even the grape thing from EW reached them. And FFXIVs one of SE most profitable ventures because its steady income. So people complain.
People are still holding hope that the patches story will save this mess, but what if it didnt? Maybe its Shadowlands Exodus FFXIV version. Maybe it's not. Who knows? But if people stopped complaining, then its a sure fire way to kill the game. So I'd rather complain than shut the fuck up. I paid 40 dollars for this.
Hey now, I'm still bitter about the grapes changes. I want to crystal polygon shaped grapes back. :D
But yea, not only should we be putting in are complaints, this is the exact place to be doing it. Here and in reviews of the game are the exact spots to be putting criticism and show distaste of the current state of the game.
^ Amen, and then some!
Oooh the pleasure it gives me seeing so many ungrateful kids butt hurt and triggered over being told to just shut up. LOVIN IT. You guys pathetically hide behind the banner of “Waaa! It’s mah right to complain, cuz I pays mah subscription!”
Here’s the thing: It’s no longer constructive feedback. You burnt that out 5 pages ago in the general section. What’s left is just page after page after page after page after page of y’all rolling around on the ground. . .making noise. “I have a right to be heard, waaah!” You were…and you STILL can’t shut up.
Ms. Malia said it very well. Get your heads out your (oh..hi moderator!) and show some appreciation.
*equips trigger jacket and flame helmet!*
Are you sure you want it? If people stop complaining it means the game is dead because there is no one who cares about it.
I'm sure you will forget all about this thread when you have something to complain about.
Maybe you haven't realized OP, but the complaining is the reason why there are certain changes are made to where the game is completely different either for the better or worse, whether people are asking for a legitimate change to try and keep the game balanced or a feel good change to make the game easier to play without changing a single playstyle or personal approach to how the game is played. Complaining is why roles are easier to perform. Complaining is also why carbuncles have went from an offensive helper to a personal supporter.
Maybe you don't know the meta, but most of the time complaining will get you the changes that you want in a future time. More importantly, some of these complaints can be good for the community overall. So why not just call majority of these complaints criticisms? This thread was a waste in my opinion. (And yet I'm responding like the dum dum I am. *facepalms* )
What is a small majority?
If a company only does things if its customers leave that is normally to late.
Especially in video games ignoring such massive feedback is a surefire way to go down.
We aren‘t even talking about additional investments here just a change in writing.
If they need the players to quitt before changing that then they should never direct a video game again because they don‘t care for it in the slightest.
In all these discussions all are only seeing the immediate money but forget about PR.
There are entire departments and external agencies specializing in that for a reason.
If your game has a bad score and several videos not liking it next to social media burning then that is a big problem for the devs because Square itself will probably want answers for that from them.
We aren‘t talking about some ingame outfit here with maybe a handful of people unhappy.
We are talking about the big advertising thing of the game, the expansionstory with LOTS of people unhappy.
Sorry, but I just have to ask: can you give me an example? Shall I send them a thank you note with every payment I make? Or maybe build a shrine of Yoshi-P's and have masses every day? I am curious to hear your opinion, if you decide to get your head out of their (oh... hi moderator!) and stop with all the kissing.
Gotta love that "Everyone I don't like is narcissist" internet fad.
Then, if there are enough people or reasons for concern they will change stuff.
Also, what does a small majority mean in numbers, do you have any data to back this one up?
You can say a lot of things about SE but not that they don't care. It's just impossible to accommodate everyone. It's okay not to like the story. I didn't like ARR either. I've quit 3 times over it. I dislike a lot of the systems they have here also, but I have chosen to focus on the positives and the stuff I do like and I do enjoy. If there is a better option for me out there, I will choose that because at the end of the day SE doesn't owe me anything, and I am not entitled to anything.
Also, review bombing means little in the long run. Businesses only understand money and profit, as they should because that's why they are called a business.
What?
I am asking YOU because I don't know what you mean with that. You brought "small majority" up.
I said that if they need players to quitt first before listening to feedback then they don't care.Quote:

Giving negative feedback is not entitlement by the way.
Oh come on now.Quote:

Now you throw review bombing in the ring?
There have been LOTS and LOTS of reviews about the game.
A score of around 6-6.5 is the end result of 0s, 10s (both unreasonable) and many other scores in between.
A score lower then the former lowest expansion is not good for a game and it's reception.
At this point and time after release it is a quite true indicator of player reception.
If you think a company doesn't care for PR then you have absolutely no clue of the market. I am sorry to say that.
You do know what a PR manager is right?
I agree. Let's stop critiquing commercial products. Let's stop critiquing art. Let's stop providing the feedback, unless that feedback is "just like that, just like that".
Figured I'd try to make this thread useful
It's actually Kikaider

Just going to place my two cents here. While a weaker person may be averse to criticism, time and again The Developers have given thanks and appreciation for Feedback on the Game.
We can talk ad-nauseum about what is legitimate Criticism, or unfair critique -- or possibly that a lot of "feedback" is less than constructive...
But by no means should we be encouraging anyone to stifle their opinions (however potentially 'unfit' for human ears their take might be), because it is the practice of allowing eachother to vent, critique, praise, or express at will that helps make the game better (or sometimes... worse).
It's up to the Developers to decide what is worth listening to and what is not - and we can't really blame the complainers for bad design choices so much as we should attribute it to Developer decisions to adhere to poor choices should that be your concern.
Not that I'm really worried, there's been plenty of good and bad over the years, and I'm sure there will be plenty more; Tumult is part of the mmo train-ride. Always has been, always will be.
People have every right to criticize something they pay monthly for, buy expansions for, devote a ton of time and effort into, and have formed a community around. I find it bizarre that just saying a team "worked hard" on something means they're immune to feedback and crit - that's how we get terrible writing like Dawntrail. The strongest criticisms for DT are coming from people who have adored this game for years and are invested in its storytelling - framing all those people as whiny bedwetters is cheap.
If I'm buying a golden turd and keep paying for it's maintenance, all while it's layer of gold starts peeling off - revealing an actual stinking turd beneath, you bet your sorry lobotomized ass I'll start complaining.
If there is something that I don't like or have concerns, then I'm going to a place where I can voice my discontent and that is here since that's where the devs look to said feedback. If you don't like people voicing their opinions that are different from yours, you should follow your own advice.
Also if we just blindly accept anything as good even if they are mediocre or bad, you kind of don't want that, because eventually things will take a turn for the worse and get an FFXIV expansion that is just on WoW Shadowlands level of bad and have a mass exodus of players from FFXIV to either other MMOs or just quit entirely. I had thoughts of quitting WoW at that point in Shadowlands because how bad it is, that's how I started playing FFXIV in the first place around May 2021.
I would rather be critical and see things improve before they get worse, even if its something that I like then sit here and blindly sing praises how this game is the best in the MMO market and it doesn't need changes.
Feed. Forum.
A forum for feedback.
Funnily enough, the people said the same thing in the closed alpha before 1.0 came out. I should know. I was there.
History is truly doomed to repeat itself.
I concur 100%.
This is where I think the issues come in. When people conflate subjective opinions with objective facts. I feel the response to "criticism" and the negative reputation this place has could be turned around if more people started acknowledging that most of what we post about is simply our personal opinions. For example, you feel the writing in DT is terrible; I feel it's great. Neither one of us is "right" - we just have our own opinions.Quote:
that's how we get terrible writing like Dawntrail.
Here we can get a little objective. Stroll through some of the threads and you'll see many of the same names that were also regulars in similar threads about EW. There will always be people rotating in and out who are indeed new to offering a negative take (just like others who had negative takes about past expansions can be positive about this one), but there's also a sizable segment that's been disgruntled for years.Quote:

Agreed. The same would be said, though, about framing all those who dare to post that they enjoy the expansion as white knights, "loyalists", etc..Quote:

Yeah. It’s a Video Game LITERALLY MADE FROM CRITICISM
Without players voicing their displeasures back in 1.0, this game would’ve died then and there. It’s because of player’s criticisms that we’re able to enjoy it now.
Not voicing our displeasures would ultimately go against the very pillars that XIV is built on.
If the game has problems and did worse than before, we will complain.
Because that's what you are paying for. You talk like if it was completely free when they milk you for changing races, milk you with subs, milk you with past event gear and objects you will never have if you didn't play in the moment and if you had personal problems to play that event or your sub when that event happened? Heh, go pay more to get those items in the store.
And if you have a house? Don't think of unsub because they will delete your house and your items so you have to continue being milked every month with a sub that it's overpriced.
No dear, this is no indie game, this is no tiny company, they fuck up things? They need to listen to the critiques and see what they did wrong.
That’s fine I’ll take the $40 loss for the expansion, but they’re not getting anymore of my subscription money. I have no desire to resub for this expansion.
Players shouldn't worry about whether their complaints and criticisms of the game are being too harsh. If something is not good, players should say so. It's the right thing to do. Players should always just honestly express how they feel, whether good or bad, without worrying about hurting the company's feelings. This isn't a kindergarten, and the developers know that. The feedback is here is probably summarized anyway before being given to the team (if it reaches them at all). Our feedback helps them learn what makes us happy and have more ideas about how to improve the game in the future. They shouldn't necessarily always listen to our suggestions, but they should at least be aware of how we feel, and why we might feel dissatisfied with the game.
You heard it here folks! You can never complain about anything ever because someone somewhere worked hard on it. Doesn't matter if you paid money for it, you can't complain if its bad because it might make the company feel sad. /s
Just because you quit, it doesn't mean they don't care, it means you aren't fit for their product. Each company has a specific market target. It doesn't have to be you.
And complaining does not equal with giving feedback. There is a clear difference between the two. If you think feedback = complaining then we are pretty much done here.
