The Visa Debit issue isn't a website bug. It's an issue with the payment processor.
I'm wondering if the problem is because the payment information form where we input our card number doesn't have a field to indicate whether it's debit or credit. Without separate flags in the data, it could be everything is being defaulted to credit on the processor's end. Any good processor should be able to tell from the card prefix if it's credit or debit but as others have said, this doesn't seem to be a good processor.
The address issue that others are having doesn't seem to be a website bug, either. It's probably another case of data provided by SE being misread by the processor's software.
The problem is still persisting. Mogstation will not accept amazon pay or Visa debit.
Also, just to debunk the thought that the address on the account and debit card are different is wrong. Both of my addresses are the same and it still won't accept my card or amazon pay.
As someone who wants to be responsible with my finances, and only uses a debit card, except at hotels, and for other important payments, limiting use a of debit card is absolutely unacceptable.
I wouldnt recommend it, but if you want to deal with a company that has a worse system, play a Nexxon game. they limit what you can spend through their website, forcing you to use other websites to buy more of whatever currency the game uses to buy gatcha or whatever. it is a very painful procedure

I love the crysta method but who would have guessed i max out after buying some sale items and fantasia now it wont let me purchase anymore so i had to use amazon which i never pay through

Unsure I didn't spend like 200 or anything I was redoing my retainer with it the other might and then doing glamours I guess it maxed it out never happen before I think it might have just maxed me for the day was all maybe
I'd understand the text as well, but who knows how the system keeps track of that, if it just rechecks balance once a day or so...? Was just worried in case I have to use Crysta for my sub and might hit a limit of sorts, but in this case I would also spend it right away, so this shouldn't matter.
[UPDATE] I just tried the Mogstation and my Amazon Pay did work this time. I don't know if this is purely on my end, or they've since fixed the issue. It's very possible it could've been my problem since I did try the purchase off of my internet on a new device. I would suggest for those getting Amazon Pay or other payment methods to try it on your phone instead of your computer. I hope this helps.
My amazon pay didn't work. This is so confusing. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.
I'm able to do Amazon for my subscription. But I have a problem.
I had extra retainers once but took a break from the game. And I have stuff on those extra retainers I want to withdraw.
But the option to re-rent those extra retainers doesn't give me the option to use amazon, or crysta, and it won't take my debit card. It's very frustrating.

EU here. I'm not sure if this will affect my upcoming sub in any way (we'll see in 4 days) but I am at present unable to purchase additional retainers or any shop items. Am greeted with error 401 in both cases. Not sure if it's connected to these issues but it is a Visa.
still same problem cant buy anything. guess no sub soon. Really wish SE would tell us any updates. Kinda important since its alot of customers.
Update on my end (error 401) - decided to ring up my bank (EU). Turns out the bank itself blocked any transaction towards Square because of "safety concerns". They removed the flag and I should be fine now.

Please add physical game time card in Canada/Mexico. I see in my local store having those Blizzard game time card for WOW. And add Canadian Dollar/Mexican Peso to USD convert price because we are in NA too. For a big MMO, accesibility is Key and yet you guys cannot do it properly, meanwhile competitor, Blizzard, they are doing it.
Good to know you solved your issue. I'd actually suspected something like that might be a possible cause of many of the current issues for some people, as it happened to me once before with the SE Account Management System way back in version 1.0 - back then there wasn't even direct credit card/debit card billing, but you had to use a (somewhat shady) third party vendor called 'Clicknbuy' to act as a middleman for subscription (the only other options were using a third party time card called Ultimatepay or something I think it was called, and Crysta - which wasn't available for players in Australia which is where I live, and still isn't).
When I went to sign up for FFXIV even after creating a Clicknbuy account like I was directed, every time I tried entering the payment details on the SE Account Management System for it it just threw up a weird error from my bank telling me to call a certain number. Turns out, it was actually Visa's security number, and that they were indeed blocking all transactions from Clicknbuy to my Visa debit card without any direction from the bank - a quick verification of my details and Visa removed the block. I never had another issue with my card with FFXIV. (Eventually SE kicked Clicknbuy to the kerb and introduced actual direct credit card/debit card billing just before 1.0 was shut down and ARR launched, which I immediately switched to).
So maybe something similar might be happening here again, and your situation seems to confirm that. So, for those affected, maybe try contacting either your bank or your card vendor (Mastercard or Visa) and see if there is any block on the card towards SE that may be preventing it from being used and see if it can be removed.
UPDATE: I was able to use PayPal to purchase the Crysta that I needed. Apparently it was because I had some kind of blockage if you will from either cookies or my cache So I cleared them out and it went through.
For me I'm unable to use any payment method offered. Might just have to break down and use a gametime code and lose access to my retainers until I can pay for them.
It seems Visa Debit is starting to work again. My friend's subscription went through fine today.
Mine went through fine on my sub. The key was it was setup before the change. If your friend tries to buy from the store or change something like adding a retainer it may very well fail.
I tested this by adding a retainer and suddenly my Visa Debit that worked a couple days before stopped working.
Confirmed, this is what happened to me. Went to update my account to add a retainer, and all of a sudden "Card is not available". I tried to follow the method of an earlier poster and check with my bank and with Visa itself, but neither of them have a block, and the bank can't find any record of a failed attempt to even process my debit card, so it's not even getting that far. Sounds like SE (or their new payment processor) messed up the settings and authorizations bigtime. Would be nice to get an update from SE though, even just a "still looking into it, DDOS taking up current resources" type of thing, cause priorities are a thing; but the last one we have is an acknowledgement on May 1. :(
Was able to confirm that Amazon Pay (linked to my debit card) and my visa Credit card worked fine, but my debit card is evidently a no-go. My uniformed guess (more of a bet, really): the payment processor has some setting that for security purpose does not acknowledge debit cards in an attempt to prevent identify theft, or fraudulent charges. Just, feels bad, you know?
I just got hit with it and I have my suspicions that it might be address-mismatch nonsense lol
Went to buy the crescent moon mount - first time I've bought something in the online store in months. But the site asked me to double-check my address, which I thought was odd. It looked correct like always. Also, it actually had a field for those extra four ZIP characters, which is blank by default on my end because you actively need to go look that shit up if you want to know it.
And now the card doesn't work on the online store. Time will tell if this will also apply to my sub lol (it uses the same card but I have no idea if the online store and the service accounts use exactly the same process). This was true even after I applied the extra ZIP characters to the address.
...also my credit card from a different provider doesn't work either, which now has me sweating bullets.

+1 to experiencing this same issue. Cannot buy anything from the online store currently. Bummer.
So somewhat silly question, all those saying the stuff bout Amazon Pay, I know about the way its been with the Online Store, the question is when you in relation to subscription are you all referring to purchasing Crysta or using Amazon Pay itself to pay for your subscription?
