I might try to level pictomancer (and viper?) to level 90 before starting the MSQ... But I dunno if I'll be able to hold back my impatience to start the new story. I am really interested in the pictomancer quests, which they said would be something a bit special/different than normal somehow. I'm intrigued. So who knows?
When it comes to the DT MSQ, though, I'm sure I'll be maining it on WAR like I have every expac. lol
I think my daughter is going to level Picto to 90, and I am going to level Viper to 90, and then we will play through the MSQ together.
I’ll probably spend the first week sulking about how I have to yet again reorganize all my hot bars because abilities being added/removed/shuffled.
Will you two just kiss already?
Just like the start of every other expansion: rearrange my crossbars.
Then I'll do the MSQ.
Third, leveling my DoL jobs.
Fully expecting the solo instances to not work due to congestion, so we are going to FISH, baby.
Avoiding log-in congestion by doing MSQ on my main while hanging out with the Marilith FC that I have alts in. Going to stock up on Squadron battle manuals in advance since I won't have access to my FC's buffs cross data center.
Yes... that's how it works. It releases, then a new raid tier comes out and our gear grows by 30 item levels, causing us to skip mechanics. You most likely know this by now. Just look at Aglaia and how people skip the Nald'Thal balance mechanic now.
Just like how in Weeping City we used to have lots of devastating Ozma mechanics. But once the third raid tier came out, our item level grew by 30 and now we just skip all the mechanics and it's an easy fight.
I would marry Wuk Lamath and live happily ever and after ♥
Hrothgal first.
I'm expecting another DDOS attack on launch, because people are jerks.
Honestly I can't say that about the Stormblood Alliance Raids.
Those could kill me even into Shadowbringers. And the nastiest one wasn't even Orbonne, it was Rhidorana. Interestingly enough even when I get them to this day, Rhidoranna is still a newbie killer, man I watch them die over and over and over and over. Lol This one Sage I was playing with died like 8 times on me, and in the ending battle was only on his feet for like 2 seconds before going down again lol. It is still just as brutal as it always was. Hell even that ending fight in Orbonne can still kill me during the 3 bosses from previous tiers segment happens.
In what is essentially tradition for me at this point (been doing it since HW), I will be leveling one of the new jobs (likely pictomancer) and then take it through the MSQ. Reason for this is that, to be quite honest, the changes made to already-existing jobs, be it addition of new skills or revamp of X or Y system... is never truly enough to make the job feel "fresh" to me, and that feeling of "something new/fresh" is something I look for in new expansions.
I'll be spending all of my time in the character creator making a bunch of Hrothgals till I find the look I like probably won't see the MSQ for days haha.
I've got a whole itinerary planned out. First in the lead up, I'm replaying 6.0's story to get a good grasp of just how long it will take with my current schedule. If it takes a week or more, I'll maybe take some paid time off of work (It's use it or lose it where I work, so this is as good a time as any)
I'm still trying to decide on my new main for next expansion. It's either going to be Scholar like I've been since I started Heavensward's story, or Black Mage which I started ARR as.
Once we're finally in the game, I'll make a point of keeping my gatherers leveled along with my combat job just to minimize backtracking. The crafters I choose to level first will be the ones that can make my crafted gear set once we know what goes into making it.
Plan A for week 1 gearing is to craft my own set before the end of savage week 1, but Plan B if I don't make it in time is to get to endgame week 1, and do normal raids. For both of these, I'll prioritize Left side gear so I can focus on the Extreme Trial for the Right side gear when I don't have any timed gathering nodes to go for. Then there's Materia. Any time not doing anything else, but especially when I've already got the crafted gear, I'll be spamming the endgame dungeon for materia drops.
Then and only then, after I've got a melded set (not pentamelded, but just single overmeld probably), and I'm ready to jump into Savage will I take a break to go level my new DPS main, Viper.
Endwalker was my first expansion, and I started in earnest the week it launched. so I've been behind the entire time. I only just last week beat P8S for the first time (got the mount, haha!), and I'm starting to prog through P9S. I finished 6.0's story just a month before 6.2 dropped, and wasn't able to beat P4S when it was current because of it. That changes here. I'm going to get best in slot for a current raid patch, I'm going to make a billion gil selling other gear sets to people. It's going to be a great time!
I believe the first thing I will do is use my free Fantasia to play with the new updates next I’ll redo my glamorous with the new second dye channel then hopefully try out some of the new hairstyles from the contest once my glam is set off to the new world
I hope I will be rejoicing about job changes.
My main concern on release is if they've ruined DRG with the rework. Beyond that, I typically do MSQ and then level all the combat jobs to cap as my first two items. Somewhere in there I'll check out Hrothgals as well.
You probably won't get far using those levequests: historically, levequest XP gets reduced to a trivial amount (10000 IIRC) when your classes' level hits the previous expansions cap. So I expect level 88 levequests to do very little for a level 90 class. Collectables are the same way, BTW.
And grinding Miner without unlocking the relevant regions via the MSQ may be a bit tedious.
Or you could download the Dawntrail benchmark program when they release it and play with that. In the past, the benchmark character creator included the ability to create the races/sexes released in the corresponding update, so the Dawntrail benchmark will probably let you create fem-Hroth, and (if the pattern holds) save your created model for use in the game. The benchmark will probably be available two months before Dawntrail.
Me, when Dawntrail launches, I'll Fantasia selected alts -- Kiitara Kaish and maybe Ebon Sky -- into fem-Hroth using the models I created on the DT benchmark -- changing Ebon would give me a she-Hroth/he-Hroth pair (primary account/secondary account) on Marilith.
Then for each of my 7-or-8 (by then) End-of-Content characters I'll be turning in the Wondrous Tails books I did the week before for all that XP, then probably do another WT book real quick, then Custom Deliveries on my crafters. With the Custom Delivery I might do a different crafter or two for each character, since I'll have at least 7 EOC characters with fully-geared-and-melded L90 Land+Hand by then -- hurray for seafarer's cowrie materia!
After that, I'll concentrate on my primary account main on Hali, advancing the MSQ as SGE to open up gathering resources, gather the stuff, do GC turn-ins to level my crafters and gatherers more, and so on until I get weary of it or hit a roadblock.
To relax, I'll start messing with glams under the new 2-die system.
I may alternate doing the MSQ and all that with my secondary account main on Hali, also on SGE, so I can pair them together for gathering. (Note you can use a macro of "ridepillion <2>" to quickly get on the other person's mount.)
And odds are I'll being doing all of this with my spouse who also has two accounts and multiple EoC characters, so we may be getting a lot of use from the 4-person Regalia mounts we recently acquired.
For me, it's been decided years ago. The first thing I will do is race change to Female Hrothgar, then get the racial gear for her and put it as a permanent glamour for my plates! (PSA: DO NOT BUY THE RACIAL GEAR FROM THE MARKET BOARD! You can get it for very cheap in all the beginning city-states from a vendor, save your gill, please!)
The next thing will be to check out Pictomancer. I am in no rush to start the story, but might go hug Wuk every now and then. And take tons of Gpose screenshots as well!
I will probably look at what they did to AST and see if I find it playable now. If I do I will take it through msq. If not playable then I will take sage/whm for a spin as per usual. I will go pick up beasstribes and chloe, try the new unreal asap. I will look at the twodyes and see whatever new gear has been added so I can start planning glams. I will check MB to see what new fun things have been added as well. After sage/whm/ast I will get dancer up and THEN check out pictomancer. Hopefully by then someone will have come up with some good noobguides for the job. I am looking forward to this tbh. I hope benchmark comes soon as well I really want to make a hrothgal for fun.
I can save you from that. Use the Benchmark when it becomes available. It will have the Hrothgal CC available and you can use it to your hearths content. Then save your perfect gal and load it in the game when DT comes (that is if you play on PC, if you are on console, then just take a picture of the CC options from the benchmark and recreate your gal in the game's CC), you can also chug a fantasia before logging off for the pre-expansion maintenance and when entering back in the game you can change the appearance directly (this will save you from being in the Que twice).
