Faster leveling N0o0o0o0o0o!

Regardless of all the Flame and Troll posts, there is a reason these posts keep coming up. People are pissed about this. I really don't want to see another Abyssea, I played this game for a new FFXI style experience not for the reason I left.

And so far this game has held up to my expectations. Immersive Storyline, Entertaining Battle System, Deep Lore, Lots of good end game content with cool rewards (maybe not the best drop rates thought).

Leveling is just where it should be quick but not to quick, its not so slow it push the casual player away, but its not too fast as to push the hardcore player away. I don't even have a level 50 yet, but in a span of 2 months playing only a few hours a day I have one 49, one 32, and one 34. with most others I've took the time to level being around 15-20. I'm pleased with my progress and enjoy that I don't feel forced into endgame content and get to enjoy the game at my own pace, I could easily have a few 50s at this point if all i did was grind levels. but I don't i take time to do quests etc etc. My point is we should be allowed to enjoy the game at our own pace, if they want us max level so bad, why not just give it to us when we make our characters.

If it takes 2 weeks to get to level 50 and it takes me 2 months, does that make me a bad gamer?

Honest, I'd prefer they focus on bestiary and more variety at more levels. If they add 50 mobs for every 5 level groups I will be happy to hunt them all down and see what they all drop and level slower or level faster by accident. I'm not looking at my level when I am out in the world playing the game, other than to see if what's in front of me will 1 one shot me or not.

TBH, the leveling speed should match up to your gear and job quest levels.

Getting a soul crystal or getting new job abilities should actually feel like an advancement in one's character progress. The job quests weren't made so that level 50s could skip through the first few and just ask for help for the last 2 quests. The achievement of getting that ability at that level should last for a decent amount of time.

There is also the fact that gear is almost pointless to update. The gear in toto-rak is actually really good for it's level, but the bother of having to either level there as a level 25 or farming it on a level 50 is just not worth it. Gear should instead be upgraded at a moderate pace. However this won't be happening if leveling is too fast.

While I agree that leveling shouldn't take an unreasonable amount of time, the pace of leveling can affect it from either being grindy, pointless, or enjoyable.

by now the devs should know what they are doing and not listening to the wrong crowds in the forum.
FFXIV is a MMORPG, not a MMOG or single-player game. do they want the game to 'end' in just a couple of months of playing? (think SWTOR)

i just cross my fingers and hope...

Level to 50 quick enjoy the games content. Why not?

Seriously please keep leveling the way is, or make it slightly slower... I really don't understand people that want a level-less game?! I mean its a MMO every MMO i know of has leveling... when I think of MMO's I think of RPG's with online friends/player real people. Thats the appeal to me... Don't play the game if your upset you cant have everything given to you... These people that want this are the same people that cheat/hack games so they can just have everything or take advantage of someone they actually think its fun to have a aimbot or whateva. Just how i feel, deal with it.

IMO grinding is important. In a game like this it should, by using "normal methods", take around 3 months to reach a class cap. Faster than this just makes the journey itself meaningless, equipments under the cap useless, contents under cap being wasted and the most important...depreciates the player skill.

I can't really understand why of such changes after seeing what happened to FFXI. But it might be good for FFXIV...this way players can haveall classes capped and do all content in a very short period of time so, when they leave for SoA, they won't even look back.

You see...with craft, quests and stuff i took around 5 months to get my first 50 at FFXIV. Friends that rushed it got the first 50 in around 3 months. IMO it was good enough...i don't see why having to level up faster than this.

Nobody really cares about leveling. People care about being able to complete satisfactory content at any single time.

People like the journey, so why not make it interesting instead of shortening the trip?

To say that people don't want mid-game content is beyond absurd. And yeah, it actually does matter, considering it shows progression. I don't think we need to do a whole lot to the current levelling system, but we certainly don't need to make endgame the only thing this game has going for it.

Leveling should be a meaningful task, not just a means to an end. The game's event system is poorly designed all around. There ought to be dungeons and fun activities to do while leveling up starting at level 1. Slowing down exp'ing while adding more group activities to do at lower level will bring a lot to the game. As it is, the reasons to upgrade gear become lessened as you approach 50, until you finally hit it.

The game needs to slow down quite a bit imo. Leveling should not a grind but rather a process that takes time, but occupies you with a lot to do. I'd like to see the leveling curve stay the same but mobs give less exp. at the same time they should like level 10/20/30/40 dungeons, a few in each region, that provide players with some good gear for their level. They should only require small parties so people can get in them fast. The opportunity to teach people to play their classes is pretty much lost when all people think about is getting to 50. It has to be more than that. SE shouldn't let players squander their time grinding. It's mindless and most players learn almost nothing from it.

Unlock content via completing mainstory quests.

I wonder how it will pan out having leveling easier. Although all the best methods for leveling are common knowledge for most people right now, what will 2.0 bring?

I imagine new players will go through the same learning curve we all went through almost 2 years ago.

Veteran players that don't want to be maxed level on everything (so as to fully experience 2.0 from the ground up)
will have a learning curve as well, which could take months.

I say "no" to faster leveling outside of parties.

Just make a toggle, you can XP at the current rate or faster or you can XP at a snails pace to experience the game.

If no one truly cares about being able to say they have jobs at Lv50 and the argument is based on wanting to experience the game, then it shouldn't matter if someone else experiences it differently and decides their version of the game revolves around doing raids and primals.

If Endgame can support the influx of characters, I don't mind faster leveling - especially seeming how Yoshi-P is encouraging people having multiple, if not every, job leveled.

For those who like leveling, you do know that you do not have to level at the maximum pace, right? Take your time and explore around, level at different locations with those of the same mindset as you. You do not have to force the playerbase that disagrees with you to conform to your standards. Faster leveling gives options, it does not take them away.

This is another argument where the people who are complaining are saying "SE, make players play with me! I can't get them to do so on my own!" - but don't want to openly admit that.

You can take your time leveling - speaking from personal experience. Meanwhile, don't screw it up for others just because you want a longer grind.

And along that vein, doing certain raids requires the use of changing jobs mid raid. That's adding another 2-3 50's you would have to level (and do have to level) before you can be a non-leech/functional member of a group.

That's just a matter of having friends who are flexible. I admit, I won't touch the mage classes in this game for fear of being married to them right now.

Idealy for me, we've got 8 characters slots for Legacy players. I think I'm going to affix certain class archtype to specific characters, as Lin really does not feel like anything else but a Lancer. (If Lancer's second Job isn't tanky I'll likely take up Gladiator/Paladin though.)

SE is just throwing Experience points at us from level 1~20, I don't see why leveling needs to be quicker. There's this ridiculous way to Power Level and compare to FFxi, it's painfully obvious SE is giving more(hand-holding) options. It's like they're sucking casuals' D!cks for money.

It's raining exp boost where ever you go and faster leveling for new players mean our efforts to get lv.50(from BETA) are ignored because we had to experience the content (and enjoy it) from the beginning. Now new players just want to be 'that' level and not give a damn about learning the game or content around the game. Frankly, I think around 30~50 it's not slow enough but (what do I know) I have a Linkshell that does 'help events' for exp and content.

Yoshi-P stated (and I hope he lived by his word) that in the last consensus (players-poll) there wasn't going to be adjustments to experience points given or leveling. Unlike in FFxi, I only need around 45-50k in experience points now to reach level 80, the world there existed a lot longer than FF-14 so there's a reason players are roller-coasting through jobs and content.

FFxiv is still in the 3rd phase(or w/e), it should be challenging for veterans and fun for casuals and newbies. Don't ruin the experience with faster leveling. If 'they' don't like the world we live in, its most likely they're in the wrong MMORPG and that they won't like it anyway. Remember your efforts to deter RMT and make it difficult for mainstream gil-sellers and bots.

I know right? That's why I didn't level all my classes(only three) and I want to see how much of a "NERF" game they make FF-14 since Jan 2012. Everything from the failed launch shouldn't even count and it's improved a lot since then!

I think if I have to learn the game and then too much changes happen, how am I going to help newer players learn when the way to play changes?? I only can remember my own experience and what worked for me. :cool:

OR, you can learn the game, graduate from "Noobyism" so we (as in player who played long/hard)don't have to assume you know everything. That's why there's "Levels", same way there's grades and classes in school.

You'll get fast to 50 yes , but obtaining good gears and relics will determines the pro/hardcore players.

Honestly, the role of a job and how to play it is not learned through gradual leveling. It's through trial and error doing the actual event in question.

A Dragoon trying to deal as much damage as he can in a chaotic XP party ain't going to know jack about any event, be it a Primal Battle or a Dungeon Raid.

And learning Black Mage is as simple as "Watch your hate, press buttons 1-3, press this button when high on hate, and this button when low on MP."

The rest is gearing, which you don't have any reason to gear well until endgame anyways, and fast leveling expedites this process.

So no, get real. Leveling is a grind. It does not improve the skill of players. Practice at the actual event in question does.

With all the rapid changes, all your "levelling" you did in 1.0 was useless, when 2.0 comes you will have to relearn all your classes again anyway, or at least to some degree, then there was the time we lost all our abilities and went to having 15, had to learn it all over again, then they gave us jobs and we have to yet again, learn again.

Thus all that so called "levelling to learn your class" was a utter waste of time end of day.

Leveling doesn't make you learn your class in anyway, sure you might know which skill does what a bit better but a day in a stronghold can do that. Hitting a Beastman mob or a raptor over and over does not in anyway resemble the same difficulty and skill you need for any end game content. You are not a better player than someone else because you hit the same mob for 50 levels or didnt hit that mob.

Not to mention if you play solo or duo or very casual, and dont PL, the levelling is tough, its very grindy, its very boring as you're limited to a few things as no one makes EXP PT's until 40 (players fault not devs) so it does need to be more accessible.

And casuals in the end are the bigger audience (thus more bank), i think there is games out there that can prove this.

But in the end, ya'll need to stop crying, sure threads popup about this but it doesn't mean much at all when the player poll stated that leveling is fine =D

I think it's good this leveling up and is not too fast. Hope will remain the same in 2.0. It's great taking exp even from the quests. Compared to FF XI is better by far because it's not frustrating. No synch and long parties. You can simply also play by ur own and get a good amount of exp.

You can get from 1 to 50 as a DoH in a couple of weeks if you've got the materials, or at least the leves to do it. DoW/DoM you can definitely get from 1 to 50 in a week if you have a party. Levels 1-20 go by very fast (obtainable in a day or two), levels 20-40 might take a bit, but 40 to 50 is easily done with a party in Natalan over the course of about two days. DoL is probably the slowest leveling of them all. If you only worked on a DoL for a month, doing some each day, you could get it from 1 to 50. From 1 to 40 on a DoL isn't all that bad, considering you can do Level 30 leves at Level 25 without failing - and that you'll get somewhere along the lines of 10,000 EXP for completing it..

The hardest part of FFXIV's leveling isn't the difficulty curve, it's finding the time and stamina (and occasionally the resources/materials) to do it with.

I really hope it's not faster than it is right now. Actually, I hoped it would be slower in 2.0.

I only started playing a few months ago, and I got my first two 50 jobs in TWO WEEKS. No PL. Seriously SE? By the end of my first month I already had 3. Then I was told by a friend I should apply to an endgame LS. I was like, "wait, what? endgame? I've only been playing for one month! O_o"

I find it funny when people talk about "endgame" in this game, mostly because it seems like it's THE ONLY thing that we have in the game. Leveling is only a tiny obstacle that needs to be taken care of so you can get to this "endgame" ASAP. It also seems rather off to have access to "endgame" by the end of your free trial period.

"Endgame" should be that content that you get access to MUCH later in the game. I remember only having access to my first endgame LS ONE YEAR after I started playing XI. It took a lot of time, it took effort, and it took me to learn how to play my job well; not just for the events, but because I never would've made it to 75 without learning to play anyway. In here, you can get there in less than a month -days if you get PL'd-, and learning how to play or how the game works? Pff. I've seen people at level 40-something asking how to invite people to a party, for crying out loud. People at 50 that don't even know there's a search function in the game. And it only seems like they want to make it faster, neglecting all that comes before it.

Now, if there's pretty much no early game or mid game because of this obscenely fast pace, how the hell can we call what we have "endgame"? At this rate, this stuff isn't "endgame", it's where the game actually starts. If that's their idea, then why don't they just let us pick which job do we want to have at 50 from the very character creation screen?

The poll showed that leveling was just right with strong majorities in every national group. Why would they change it?

people bitch just to bitch. But mainly because stuff got fixed in the last patch so theres nothing to really complain about so they got back to older things that dont matter.

The reason I complain about it is because it makes the game have a multitude of problems. The majority may want it, but the game will suffer in the long run. Fast leveling hurts the economy, game structure/content, the community, longevity of the game, and the journey/experience of the player.

I didn't ask why you complain. I'm asking why would they change it when the majority like it.
