First of all, even with current server structure, some people changed names during the server transfer. Secondly, the game code and server structure are going down for 2.0 anyways.

Guys you haven't figured it out by now? Rina is doing this on purpose because Rina WANTS the name change! No doubt Rina wants to turn into a male character and what kind of male player wants the name Rina? Since He/She/It knows that Yoshi isn't 100% sure name change will be able to happen they're purposely challenging the idea, why? Because you draw more attention arguing about it instead of just giving the thread a +1 and saying "I think we should be allowed this one time chance to change our names" Rina don't stop what your doing, your bringing in supporters and we just might be able to convince the team to let us change our names. I love you Rina :o

Take example, XI vet. As far as I know, SE offer, and not forcing, them to take their XI identity.

Another funny example is character ID. I've seen many Rina (and all of its variant) in my server. Should I change my name just because of that? Truly funny

ps: I'm not against change. I'm against ridicoulous idea that will/potentially bring imbalance to either game mechanics, game experience and game lore. For those who said that I'm not role play enough, actually I role play enough. And right now, I'm role play as some adventurer in medievel setting, and to no friggin way access to some gender or even race change. Sure, I could dye my hair blond or black, but that? Totally not gonna happen in medieval setting

btw wanting to change your name is not selfish. Acting like the entire game should revolve around you and you alone, is however.

The thread becomes a lot less annoying when you put inaray on your ignore list. If you get to reroll character you should get to reroll on your name.

A lot of people want to change their name, so I certainly hope they allow it.

One of my characters has a name that just doesn't suit her. I was a little unsure about it when I chose it in the first place but I couldn't think of anything better at the time. Unfortunately she's one of my favourite characters and she's too far along to remake her.
My other chars are fine, I'll be happy with them as they are for as long as I play the game... But I really would love the chance to change this one character's first name once, even though I won't be changing her race or gender.

Last I heard Yoshida-san understood that a lot of us want this, he's just looking into whether or not it's possible.

Why has this thread gone on for 96 replies? Poster asks if you can change name when 2.0 comes out, the answer is "yes, you'll be able to recustomize your character and this includes your name." As far as I know, that was the plan, so that should be the end of the thread?

if the answer is yes could u or someone please post a link with the answer to confirm this. last i heard yoshi in a interveiw stated he wanted feed back from players on if it should be done.

one thing i know for sure is that if i want to change my character to a mantra or a galka i surely dont want to use the name im currently using its onry fitting and not hard to understand why. if i have a lala named taru taru with all jobs 50 and i say hey 2.0 is here cool let me change my character, i certainly dont want a mantra or galka named taru taru thats ridiculous. :/

It is more of the reason you are asking. Why ask why? Why? Maybe some just effin want to change their names, lol. Maybe some of dbags and maybe some really grown to dislike they name they chose originally but don't want to lose their level 50's just to change their name.

I wouldn't want my name change. It would make it hard on anyone that knows you by your original name, unless your intention is to hide, I don't see a reason to change names.

I think, if possible, this will allow a lot of us players at a fresh start and a chance at all the characters and options, without giving up all of our achievements on our original characters.

For those of you opposed, keep in mind it's an option and you won't have to. :)
