Although I will also say. There is legitimate argument for against updating older systems because it could lead to feature creep, because that is a problematic design in MMOs. The last thing we need is to make FFXIV into a chorefest with a bunch of systems just for the players to keep up to date. We've seen this happen before in Battle for Azeroth where this thing was at its worst and it just drove off its playerbase.
In this case though and in my opinion I do believe that FFXIV could use to at least expand just a few older systems like battle leves to actually be a reliable source for exp again, Bicolor gemstones to pre-Shb zones for more open world activity and Squadrons to give you like a weekly target missions where you can earn some endgame rewards (as well as updating the dungeon list to include SB-EW stuff and probably retool the content to be like trusts because controlling the squad itself is just ass)
I think that be a good start.
