Just out of curiosity are they getting a changing table instead of an Armoire?
LMAO or maybe even a cat tree lol

Chair just looks awful in general to me. Ever saw that meme of Toad with LEGS? Kind of reminds me of that.
More on topic: the game has a limitation at present in lalafell-sized furniture being useable for players. Yes, there are pieces in Tomra that can be made available but take a minute and think here. Only lalafells have access to those areas where the furniture is. Why? The devs most likely lack the ability to create the furniture to only be exclusively used by lalafells only and not by the other player races. So to allow the functionality of the benches, chairs and beds; only lalafells have access to these areas.
Could they make these pieces accessible? Yes. Could they make furniture items that would be appropriate lalafel-sized? Yes. The issue is they either do not want to take the time to code the specialized furniture to be only interactive for lalafell or they cannot put in that line of code to do so. Anyone interacting with that size of furniture are going to clip through the floor/be impractical in lying down on it (the bed). It will break immersion for those that do care about things like that in the game. So we get a monstrosity like we do with that chair because it needs to be interactive for all races of all sizes.
Oh and the name should be something else. I feel it is placing expectations that are false for the furniture item's current design.
If you dont want to use a Lifter in real life that is ok, if you dont want your character to use it in game go ahead but, why do you want it to be cancelled for all those people who doesnt care? You are in your right to express yourself but dont expect everyone to agree with you.

This I can vibe with. I can definitely understand the probability that they made things specifically for tomra for a reason, whether it be due to coding, functionality, etc. Though the community voices have been fairly loud about properly sized furniture for us too and mentioned long ago it was something they wanted to look into.
On the other hand, housing is also kind of a mess in general. People are glitching them all the time either to create their own amalgamation of furniture/clipping madness. I've seen people make some super cute lalafell sized homes with smaller furniture bits, cubbies to sit at, etc. The desire is to have smaller things so we aren't surrounded by furniture twice/thrice our size. The lalafellin step stool is great which is why we desire more functional things like that! I just really hope they can incorporate so much more than our current limits.
Half of the answers in this topic are the reason why Lalafells are tired about stuff like this: They ask for more respect and all they get are puns/jokes about their size... and then some of you come here and say that you "dont understand why they're upset", yea, sure pal.
Some people want "helmets" on Vieras, others want to unlink the horns of Au Ra from their Faces preset, others wanted male viera to be playable, Hrothgars/Vieras want more hairstyles available, etc... near all these things, to have the name of an item changed to please those that feel demeaned by it, its not only the easiest problem of them all to fix, but also the less superficial one.
Besides, some people here says that "they have no problem with the chair name", thats awesome, no really - its awesome. It means you're having fun with the game. I'm sure if you're okay with an item called "Lalafell Lifter", you will also be okay with this item having any other name as well, because if this chair name doesnt impact you, good for you! But others are tired of stuff like this.
This is The response I wish people would realize. Everyone has something they'd like to have fixed or changed for the better. Mine just happened to be waking up and seeing an item I felt insulted by, even if only by name or appearance. Intensified by the fact that lalafell are always the butt of jokes and harassment, and an item labeled specifically lalafellin and looking like a baby highchair didn't rub right... When I saw more people on social media complaining about it as well, one would think well why not bring it up to Feedback on the forums where the devs can see our concern?
But nah. Our requests are seen as "too much" though because... it's so easy to pick on lalafell and call them jokes. As demonstrated by this thread and attacking for something that doesn't really affect them. And wonder why we're upset.
I'm glad some people like it and want to use it, but it's the same thing as other items/glams that have had controversy around them. Just asking for a little change that doesn't feel downright insulting.
Anyways this is what it boils down to:

Good to know having the expressive range of a wet paper bag like some other races in this game is the only way to be an adult and being exuberant makes you a baby. Great logic there.
You're playing a different version of FFXIV than some of the rest of us if you really think the lore supports lalafell as only jokes and not actual adult people. One of the reasons I enjoy the story world as much as I do is because the world actually does treat them like anyone else. You don't hear story NPCs throwing around casual infantilizing language toward lalafells. Nobody offers them a booster seat or a kiddie toy or treats them like they're fundamentally incapable of complex tasks or difficult decisions. We see them in every role in society: laborers, merchants, warriors, engineers, nobility, sorcery. There's a very obvious couple that is one lalafell and one taller person in Labyrinthos where they talk about their love surviving the Final Days. The playerbase deciding something is a joke does not make it so in the lore.
I also have to somewhat disagree with the comparison elsewhere of "it's the same as getting catnip as a Miqot'e, it's clearly a joke." There are no cat people in real life. There are diminutive adults in real life. And even if they were the same thing, it's really unkind to basically tell someone they signed up for and should accept bullying for playing a certain race in a video game. One should try to be a better person than that, whether or not anything will be done about this particular piece of furniture.
I'm gonna preface this to try and nip anything in the bud. Everyone's more than welcome to their opinion on the chair, etc. This is just me wanting to add my voice. Your thoughts on the matter are valid whether I agree with them or not.
Honestly, as a long time lalafell player, I absolutely love this chair. It's cute, it's a funny tongue in cheek, poking fun kinda thing like the cat tower. It dyes well, it's really cute, and I'm on the end of the spectrum where if I saw it in someone's house I'd be like 'Yo dibs on the lala chair'. People who get too offended on one side or the other really need to take a break and think about what they're getting upset over and have a chill pill. Like I agree, we should have some more serious lalafellian furniture, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this chair, nor do I personally see any reason it would need to be redesigned or name changed. Some of the arguments against the chair, vaild. But really, at the end of the day it's a cliche adage but 'It's not that deep'.
As a decorator I would welcome size appropriate furniture for all. Means less work for me to think on the small scale. Heck, I have a min height lalafell alt made to double-check counter heights, seating arrangements and faux secondary floors. It is a shame this is the system we have to game to make a personal space comfortable for your WoL with glitching items about.
Maybe you're hearing what you want to hear.

LOL wot?
Tataru is basically the little sister of the Scions. She has her own story moment in MSQ where she tries to be strong and helpful like the rest of the Scions but fails when she realizes she's not meant for battle and eventually discovers where she belongs with her own talent.
Pipin is the little adopted son of Raubahn who he also looks up to and wants to try and be like.
Krile is the new young recruit of the Scions
Lolorito Nanarito looks and acts like the type of villain who would get a woman tied up and placed ontop of a railroad track
The Dwarfs in Shadowbringer were two rival tribes that were nothing but comedy for that entire expansion. Nearly every Lalafell from the first had a joke to crack
Their names are like nursery rhymes
Lalafell emotes are also a great example of 'child like behavior'
What more proof do you want that Lalafells were meant to be a joke and playable children without being actual children? The childish jokes might not be as obvious as giving lalafells candy but the child behavior and vibe is there. It's why no one likes lewding Lalafells because the entire game itself gives off that vibe.
Well it's a good thing this is a Final FANTASY game. Not rl so idk what rl has to do with any of this. . . Also no one is bullying you in this thread. People are laughing because of how childish the complaint is(no pun intended)
You people are absolutely unreal lmao.
Throwing a tantrum over nothing definitely won't help you be perceived as not-babies you know.
LMFAO this has got to be the funniest complaint about this game I've ever read
It's just a virtual chair. You are not forced to use it or like it. But it's not that serious. Take a deep breath.
This is seriously not a big deal.
The amount of people getting up in arms over this is insane.
It's one thing to be upset because you don't like the design, or the color, or the fact that it can't be dyed. But there are people who are legit throwing hissy fits on Twitter because apparently it's "racist", "demeaning" and "infantilizing" players. Just... really? It's a freakin' piece of virtual furniture. It's okay, I promise. It's a joke and it's fine. No one is trying to take the piss out of us Lala players. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Square Enix having a little fun at our expense because they are in on the joke. The reaction to this is blown hugely out of proportion.
Some players really, really need to grow some thicker skin. I've been playing as a Lala for years. I've seen and heard it all, and most of it has been directed at me at least once. What do I do? Get over it. Yeah, sometimes it does bother me, if I'm already upset that day and sometimes I'm having a more emotional day than other days - however at the end of the day it's just a game. The amount of Lala "hatred" is greatly exaggerated, and when it does happen people need to learn to not be so defensive and upset over such trivial matters.
It's just a chair if you don't like it just don't sit on it.
on my way to commit hate crimes towards lalafell (pat-and-runs)
I think you just summed it up perfectly as to why people have reacted this way. It has been a long-running joke that people have endured and are tired of. It's not really that funny anymore and this item is only solidifying that joke.
Yeah it's just a game and its just a chair but it gets annoying. It would be like if they named the stripper pole a miqo'te pole, it's terribly poor taste in my eyes.
I also just wanted to comment on this thread to 100% agree with the annoyance of this item.
Lalafell players really out here hating bing infantilized and then cry about a chair they don't have to use.
We really do need patch 6.4, the community is running out of drama material. A chair? Really? When not even 10% of the player base has a house?
Man u guys running out of things to complain huh LMAO
This is the most stupidest drama I have seen from this community, fr fr
This is really unfortunate. I hope they change it.
I don't see the complaint in the OP.
My first thought when seeing the chair was that it looks like something Nanamo would use, not that it was infantile.
It just looks like something a rich or noble Lalafell would sit in at functions or something similar to me.
If not looking infantile is the goal, this thread isn't really helping anyone's case.
Imagine getting offended by a virtual chair lul
I love this chair as a lalafel!
Gods forsake anyone has a sense of humor these days smh
It's honestly depressing to see so many people coming into this thread just to be rude and dismissive towards those who want to speak their mind about a grievance they've got over something.
this thread is too funny lmaooo
Glad to find out most people were sent here by reddit and arthars so now I understand where all the trolling and clowning comes from. Ganging up on others, get a life.
bc not once in my journey as a parent have i ever seen a high chair that looks like this. i have seen chairs with disproportionate seating-to-backing ratio, and they weren't for children.
I think the fact that we have so many clowns coming here to gang up on the Lalafell players expressing their frustration at being infantilized is a pretty good indicator of how bad the problem is, beyond just the chair itself.
The high chair is fitting for people that react like this to a piece of furniture. It's a cute object it's nothing to get upset about.
why are yall mad they're adding child stuff for your child characters, i dont get it
