I mean, if they have the money to burn on two accounts, more power to them. Can't say I'd do the same even if I absolutely loved the game. In any case, that still isn't cause to start spilling in to shut a thread down because you don't like the person responsible for it.

But, for the record, I keep my main well hidden too. Not in the account sense, mind - I just don't link my actual main character, because I know what's going to happen if I do. I already got a dose of some forum crazies finding me in-game and trying to cause problems back during the Garlean debates. 0/10, would not recommend. Some people get a little too passionate, and it can very quickly shift from mere forum debates to someone deciding to inconvenience you by sending false reports in-game.

Is this your first rodeo with Aveyond? If you were talking about anyone else I'd agree with you, however Aveyond is not here for discussion, he's not here to debate things, he's only here to spout off about stuff he hates and echo chamber with the few people who voice agreement. I once agreed with a lot of the stuff he said, but as I watched over time, he's gone from a normal poster who had complaints to a person who only seems to exist to find things to hate about the game and then HAS to tell us about them. Almost without fail, he'll completely ignore everyone in a thread he makes except the people who agree with him.

As much as I hate to say it, again as someone who once agreed with some of his points, Aveyond's brought his negative reputation upon himself.

There's literally nothing to discuss though. Aveyond's got no interest in discussing his edgy teenage fanfiction with us, so why should we? I've said this time and time again, but if you think Aveyond isn't here for discussion or you want his thread to die, why are you posting in it? You guys are bumping his thread to the top of General Discussion every time you post here. You're literally giving his thread more attention, letting it grow, and having more people see it.

The only thing you could possibly accomplish here with your current strategy is to squash out any genuine discussion that could pop up around the topic. So what is your goal here? If it's to destroy potential discussion, then you don't get to complain that Aveyond isn't here for discussion, because neither are you. And if that isn't your goal, maybe consider a different tactic.

Showing up and screeching about how terrible Aveyond is only makes you look crazy and obsessed, it's not helping your case here. Please chill.

Isn't that just helping Aveyond, if you think about it? People that really dislike the dude/his posts would be better served by just not engaging. Mind you, I'm not saying this in the "lololo silence the dissenters" sense, I'm being completely genuine. What this actually does is keep pushing the post count, which in turn keeps people coming back to the thread for more, which in turn means Aveyond will continue to accrue upvotes over time and gain more of those dumb participation tro--I mean forum medals.

it's this, Absimiliard. People can't have a conversation with people who are so reductive, inflexible and restricted in their views. One thing would be if they'd keep it to themselves in specific threads and so on and so forth. But the fact that he does this so often feels intentional. People have given him an answer months ago. He could have changed, but didn't. And after a while, people just stop caring overall. You'll see people derail, you'll see people turn it into a lighthearted foolish thread. And I'm sorry but I'm sure plenty of the people who do so are doing it end up finding the derail far more pleasant and sometimes even more constructive than answering OP directly.

There's no grand cabal against him. No coordinated movement.

Just a collective sigh from people who read his threads and have become tired of the same-old same-old time and time again and know there will be no discussion if they take it at all seriously.

I agree with Awesome, in a way: just ignore him. He's not worth engaging with, and derailing the threads is just not going to work. It won't change his mind, it won't change his opinions, it won't change his attitude, and it certainly won't change people's outlook toward him.

People keep trying to give this advice regarding troll threads and certain other posters, but people just don't do it. I think some of the people here have given up trying at this point and just go for entertainment value lol. IIRC this is my first time actually really engaging in an Aveyond thread myself.

I asked Aveyond why the gods HAD to be fighting, and what was wrong with them testing us for whatever mysterious reason. I then predicted that he'd ignore me/anyone who disagrees with him (which, gasp, he did lolll).

You say this as if step 1 is objectively bad. The forums are designed for feedback. Just because you don't like his feedback, doesn't mean the feedback is the problem. Your response to his feedback only serves to boost its reach.

If you desire a different discussion because you hate this one, go make your own thread about whatever it is that you want to discuss. (And no, this doesn't mean a passive aggressive 'prediction' thread that is designed to poke fun at 'you know who') For example, if you wanna post cat pictures and talk about those, why not make a cat picture thread. (Actually, I think there already is one for cat pictures) And if the forums doesn't allow for the type of discussion you want, you have your discord that you advertised a while back, no? Talk about cat pictures over there with your friends. And if you don't like Aveyond specifically, just ignore him. It seems to work pretty well for him when he just ignores you.

So the question is this: If your problem is that you don't like the discussion going on here, why are you still here trying to shut down this thread instead of going to find the discussion you actually want? I don't want to assume the worst, but it seems that the issue isn't that the discussion you want doesn't exist, but that the discussion you want to destroy does.

I've noticed that a lot of the people who complain that Aveyond doesn't respond to them have all given him reasons not to bother with them. I would honestly not be shocked if he has some or all of you on his ignore list and doesn't bother to click the button to see your post. I was too. I'd rather see peoples' opinions tho, bc my thought really did just stop at "We're going to need to draw a line on what can go into the definition of a deity and what should be left out", but... that's about it. Because there's really nothing more to this than just "Oh here we go again". No one's ever going to change OP. It's hard to try and have meaningful contributions to their thread when the mere assumption at the start is already incredibly flawed and made to be inflammatory. So whatever discussion happens here, I know it won't end well.

People asked him stuff directly to try and engage in conversation. I know Zebraoracle did, I know Zanarkand-Ronso does... no dice. And that's how it's always been. Whenever there is further interaction, it's to double down, nothing more. But if you want to make the observation that this sort of reaction looks coordinated, then you should at least understand why it happens in the first place. Even if you're not interested in the "why". For a lot of people, it's already been established why. Every thread that ends poorly of his goes down the same path, with people wondering why others derail and hate on OP, and others either defending themselves or defending the behaviour. It's really not rocket science at this point; it's just as repetitive as people derailing the thread, which in turn is equally as repetitive as OP themself.

We respond cause we get entertainment out of it. He can posts as often as he wants. We can respond as often as we want. Now we are BOTH having fun. If it wasn't fun...it would have stopped...for either group.

For context on this claim, I used to have a signature that had a stereotypical message of a white knight that included things like "we should be grateful that SE gives us scraps". Speaking as a gamer for at least the last thirty years or more? As someone who played Pong on a huge wooden cabinet platform at 20 cents a game?

FF 14 is head and shoulders above a HUGE swathe of games I have seen and played in that time. The story content alone has been amazing.

Id agree here as well, SE have done their level best, given the fact FF 14 is literally walking all over Blizzard in terms of content, longevity, innovation, content, story writing and gameplay..again its an accurate statement. The comment "anything at all" refers more to the fact the game can be shut down at any time. Id also add that that statement was made when COVID was still at its peak, when people were crying about servers despite the fact that there were NONE TO BE HAD...Yoshi stated they even offered MORE than the servers were worth, and still got nowhere.

No game is perfect, no one ever said it was..but between Ion and his "D" team vs the excellence of Shadowbringers and Endwalker?

I know which one I prefer.
