If I recall correctly, Zero uses the default 1.0 female Midlander body like how Ardbert uses the default male Midlander body. This is important because it led to speculation that Zero was the unaccounted for-missing Azem soul on the 13th and why Zeno specifically chooses Zero to be his Avatar.
I haven't seen them side-by-side but I don't think it's the same face design. From memory the WoL design was using a hairstyle still available in the character creator.
It definitely won't be "the same body", or rather there is no significance to bodies, because faces are the only directly customisable part of a standard character model. They are both female Midlanders, but that is all.
All that said, she doesn't need any particular design to turn out to be the WoL's shard, although I don't particularly want it to take that direction. Or if it does, I don't want it to end with us absorbing her soul like we did to Ardbert. I don't want to set precedent for it being some kind of plot that we'll find all our shards and just happen to be there when they conveniently die.
Same. I would say it is pretty close on the femininity meter as her English VA. Both are not necessarily deep, but rather monotonous due to her personality.
I believe that would operate under the assumption that all of Azem's shards are Midlanders. While I think that is a safe assumption, Zenos choosing/taking Zero as his avatar because she's Azem's shard would lead to a ton of questions. That is a possible red herring to keep us distracted from whom is actually the shard. Quite a few people feel that Golbez is actually Azem's shard on the 13th.
If absorption is what is to become of the 13th shard, I suppose Zero would make a lot of sense considering she is getting equal treatment in terms of character development as Ardbert. And man, Ardbert got a ton of it.
I think another thing being forgotten by some earlier posts is that he's an automaton. He's a grown up version of his kid automaton made by people who love him and consider him a little brother. If he doesn't look quite like other Au Ra men, then that makes sense. He's an idealized version.
Neither of it shows any ticks here... the new girl... well she is acting like Seven of Nine from Startrek Voyager, but definetely not her.
There is a difference between being a dapper male, and a self-absorbed male who worries too much about his appearance. The latter is what pretty boys do, and sadly most of them do it thinking it will attract the opposite sex; or rather, a feminine partner because they've been erroneously taught to think this is what women want. Problem with that is femininity attracts masculinity, and vice versa. This is how the universe works. A dapper male is different. While they are attractive, well-dressed and groomed, they still exude a masculine energy. Those are the Bradly Coopers, Henry Cavills, and Jon Hams of the world. "Pretty" is not how I would describe any of them. Dapper, masculine, manly, handsome are words I would use.
I can see that. I just think in my personal experience "dapper" is more something that would be used for older men, and "pretty" (whether making fun of a certain type of guy, or as a compliment) were maybe more younger men.

I thought Zero was a young, like 19 years old, guy. It never occurred to me Zero could be a girl. I also thought Zero was a guys name. It’s open to interpretation by the person playing, which isn’t a bad thing. :)
@OP even bad guy Zenos had softer features despite having ridiculously oversized armor and having that dominant aggressive male type personality. I just think it’s the aesthetic of the game. Hien in Stormblood was pretty masculine to me. I guess maybe that’s the look you want?
That's fair, and I would agree. However, it's when males are older that they truly do become men. It's not always the case, but for most it really does take quite a bit of time for a male to become distinguished, mature, hardened, and to truly get past the "boy phase". These days, most males don't get there until their 40's so I can see where you are coming from. Pretty boys can and will garner some success with females, but their antics do not command respect so rarely are they taken seriously.
That got a chuckle out of me as well. That's the kind of horse**** guys will listen to thinking it works. While some stuff still applies, this has more to do with just keeping yourself kempt. It's still important to be clean and neat, but the men I've always been around didn't need any longer than 15 minutes and an occasional haircut to do this.Quote:

Thank you!
Even in Japanese, I'm hearing a woman's voice, not the voice of an androgynous male or non-binary individual.
Yeah, that's still my take. But, it doesn't bother me that others see Zero as a male or anything else, really.
If that's the dev's intent, all power to them. They succeeded.
:)
I know Sunday is jokingly referring to WoW troll forum day, is it the same here or coincidence it was on same day
Breaking news: having aesthetic preferences makes you a bad person.
Hien is proof that they are capable of designing attractive masculine men, aka "handsome" but I guess whoever made him got sent off to design the male characters in XVI and in their place we got the people who decided that male Viera have to be shorter and girlier than their female counterparts. They've barely designed any masculine characters since, with Hythlodaeus being similarly effeminate and then Vrtra, Zero, etc. The balance is clearly stacked in favor of those types and hardly any of the opposite.
Again though, FFXVI doesn't seem to suffer much from that by giving out something for everyone. You want a pretty boy? There's Dion. You want your classic hero type? There's Clive. You want your strong man? There's Hugo. You want your rugged older types? Cid and Barnabas. Everyone wins. All they'd need to do is produce *1* male character design for a party member that doesn't suffer from whatever is going on with Zero or Vrtra to make the current party we're stuck with less...ridiculous.

for the most part, I dont care what a video game character looks like, if they are male female or aardvark, or the ever popular apache attack helicopter. they are video game characters, not interested in dating them. they are like characters in a book, difference is I can interact with them.
I dont mind Zero, thought their look was okay, and figured that the character was female. androgenous maybe, but if thats their thing, more power to them. its like losing your mind over Hermione being with Ron.. like... so what? could care less what the guys and girls look like, except for a couple of characters.. they arent trying to hit me up for a date....
I agree that the cast should have more people that aren't white-haired. If anything, even people that aren't humanesque races, similar to ff9, but this whole post reeks of small dick energy.
Why are you shifting to using "they"? Zero is referred to as "she" in English, whatever her original design concept stated.
The English script has no qualms about nonbinary characters, even prominent supporting ones like Feo Ul and Beq Lugg, so if they wanted Zero to use "they" pronouns then it probably would have happened.

Eh? Handsome is supposed to be attractive? I thought it was another way to say someone has a very punchable face... >.>
Anyone else getting a little bit of a Titanman feel from this? "Only manly rugged bearded scarred men are handsome and attractive" really?
I'm not the one who said it but uh...

Renalt is starting to sound like this guy.
And I think thats more mainly then any "Handsome" Guy OP can throw at us.
Haha, I'm not sure if Zero could ever be mistaken for a male or even a genderless person. She's a woman no doubt.
Opposed to what? With that many adjectives, you're not leaving much else. Unless you find boyish/girly men attractive?
Being attracted to fictional characters is pretty normal, bub. It's actually kind of weird you're so ranty about it.

What standards? I haven't mentioned what my standards are even once. The closest would be I don't find boyish/feminine men attractive, but that has more to do with me being an adult. Well past giddy girlish crushes. My views in this thread have been masculine vs feminine men. If a poster is whining that someone's views are only bearded, scarred, rugged, manly men are attractive; I'm over here thinking, "Of course they are. That's a effin man!" It's not those things specifically, it's that those characteristics exude masculinity; and if you're feminine, you are sure as hell going to be attracted to that. These posters are basically trying to say that masculinity isn't attractive, and I'm saying, "BS".
Now if you want to argue that masculinity isn't the only thing that makes a male attractive, that's fine. There just isn't much else to be attracted to unless he has boyish and/or feminine characteristics. In which case, you do you bud.
Everyone keeps picking either pretty boys or rugged men, but I'm over here thinking, "¿Por qué no los dos?"
