then say so initially instead of criticizing one thing.

Why should I, when everyone else has already stated my opinion on those matters, and just repeat what everyone else is saying? I'd rather focus on the thing nobody seems to be mentioning or notice, which was the textures and the foliage. If everyone was saying "Wow awesome, but the textures are kinda lowres, hope they change that/have better textures ready" I wouldn't have posted at all
Loads of people have mentioned about the grapihcs before you posted.
Another thread, its been mentioned lots

Satellite-Dalamund_meteor
wonder if the owner of the site name them himself or if they where named that way by SE
Well then, I may as well go ahead and mention the good parts then:
Love the new UI, doesn't look bloated and just looks awesome. Also doesn't seem like the customization of the UI will dissapoint me. Loving the area revamps, especially like the forest area! And the shadows, actually seeing trees and all throwing shadows is making me excited :)
Another reason, as I was flicking some of em through my desktop background the actual screenshots appear to be 720p, so in that case they will be standard - mid range settings.
Well, I guess I should have replied to you and asked where you got the info that they are gonna change etc? I am having a hard time taking someones word on forums, since most stuff is made up. But if it's official that's great, just what I wanted to hear.
Edit: Not trying to sound hostile and saying you're not trustworthy, but just in general that's the case, hope you understand.
I think my favorite thing about the screenshots is the use of more natural barriers and boundaries. Rather than having everything on a plateau or in a little canyon, we see trees and shrubbery blocking the way to places not intended to be reachable. Right now, I find myself having to look up to see the scenery. These seem way more natural and just plain beautiful.
It's official, I'm running an alt to re-experience this game from 0 on one of the blank servers. This looks too good.
I understand around here, I have played a couple alpha/beta builds of games and on small things like ground and fauna textures they just run low rez then put the high rez ones in after debugging and testing, it looks to me as they already have the high rez textures on the character and mob models so I'm thinking they are moving along nicely and we should expect the beta on time but you never know what could happen between now and then.
EDIT: Heck SW:TOR didn't even have high rez textures in till weeks after the release, almost forgot about that ><
It has the possibility of looking amazing if the textures aren't crap. I am a bit worried that making a more accessible game engine also means dumbing down the graphics. Hopefully it simply means streamlining or making the code more efficient. While I agree it is probably 'alpha' I find it hard to agree that someone would purposely take screenshots on medium settings. As is, the textures are pretty hideous x_x
As others have mentioned their production work station is designed to show stuff off at only standard quality/mid range settings. There is no way they are going to downgrade the textures, they will make it available for higher end computers if they can use them. Honestly for once its refreshing to see a company not bullshot the hell out of game screens where only but a few can see it that way, but at the same time seeing these reactions I know why most companies do use bullshots.
I found the CC interesting.....

If you tilt your head there's additions of note:
-lip color
-eye shape
-hair features (hopefully includes most hair and not just a few)
-tail shape
-tail length
-ear shape (A B C or D)
-ear size
-chest
-build (!?)
Sorry if someone posted already but I skimmed the thread and did not see it. ;)
Graphics are great, you dont need a 2048x2048 texture of dirt and grass, stop crying. ffs lol
Also i dont think its "alpha", they said its all finished up and now its just putting in content, if anything its Beta, even pretty much finished just additions and content.
We will know for sure tomorrow when more is explained in the interviews!
LOL i just want to see them say something like "thats all Ps3 footage" and listen to nothing but freakin crickets from the hater camp.
Looks like they're showing off FFXIV 2.0 to the press
https://twitter.com/Nova_Crystallis/...46496530743296
I think that's exactly what people in the "hater camp" would want to hear. And I would get it if someone was screaming "OMG 2.0 BAD TEXTURES SO FAIL RELAUNCH FAIL FAIL" that you would call them haters, but stating that the textures are bad, which they are compared to what we have ingame today, is hating on the game? At what graphical quality of the textures would it not be hating to call them out? If they were just a singel color?
Nobody is saying (as far as I know) that those are the only textures that are gonna be released, or that that is DEFINITELY the best settings, most are just saying that the textures are bad compared to the ones we have ingame today, and would like to hear that they're planning/have higher resolution textures ingame for the computers that can handle it. And yes, I could live with them sure, but I don't like downgrading from something better that I have today.
And if I have missed some post that was actually doing some real "hating" just disregard what I wrote and pretend you didn't read it :P
That's exactly it though, since everyone else is showing their games at almost unrealistic graphic settings, you would assume that SE is doing the same, if not stated otherwise. I mean, why put yourself in a worse light than other games? However alot of people are saying the same thing you're saying, that they usually show stuff of at standard settings. If that's the case, everything is fine and dandy and we'll all hold hands and 'stuffz', it's just that you can't really assume that video game companies are going for a "realistic" approach when showing of their games. Blame them ebil game companies!
I think it is really cool that they are using past character names corresponding to the jobs of their test characters.
I'm really glad they brought back Zidane the carpenter...
Wait, does this screenshot mean that our characters will be doing emotes during conversational pieces?
http://www.ffandmore.com/wp-content/...ery-Moogle.png
I'm an Elezen, and I don't like that D;
AKA: I liked to ignore the fact that my characters outward expressions of emotions were either too cool for school, or extremely effeminate.
(I guess we've sort of been doing it all along, It's the more expressive ones that use a lot of motion that I'm scared of)
Wow you took that on all yourself lol I actually never knew you existed until this post, so If I said something personal that you thought was directed at you, let me say that is most certainly not the case. I ligitmatly want that to be a ps3 build running, and believe me, you are far from the worst of anyone making statements about the graphics being shown. I was actually just coming off reading some comments on twitter and pads when i wrote this. Deep breaths bud.
Well they were alrdy doing emotes during the bigger CS, now it's just rendered where they actually have input even during normal scenes rather then standing their like a log lol. It'll be interesting to see your character act more lively during all conversational pieces rather then just the important ones.
Because one of the major complaintes about the game when it first released and even long after was that it consumed a gigantic number of resources from Pc's and that only those that could afford high end rigs could play it. It would make perfect sense to me for them to show people that the game is not only getting upgrades content-wise but is also now more accessable to many different types of players. At least, thats what I saw as a possibility. People already know the game is fantastic looking, and look what that got them? WHy would you go out of your way to highlight the graphics when that wasn't enough to keep people playing your game the first time?
I'm pretty sure Bayo stated at one point they take vanilla screenshots, so even if it's PC they're not boosting the graphics to full, they're showing what it will look like without all the bells and whistles which still looks better than a lot of MMOs. People keep throwing around Tera when saying "best graphics"...there's a difference between bright/cartoonlike textures and photorealistic textures in terms of "better graphics".
Its worth noting that your view of texture quality depends on your current system. I run a GTX 580 @ 1920x1200 and my settings are pretty high, so to me the screenshots look incredibly crappy - more so than most I imagine. To other people, with average systems, the screenshots might look better than what they have.
So to someone running the game on a 9600GT, I might seem like a total hater since they look at the screenshots and think they are amazing. meh.
