Paladins Invuln Capping in Onsal Hakkar

Bump here too.

Other team try to cheat using this abuse and still lost the game (That's karma for you !)

The paladin's cover should only cover the damage, not the other effect, like interrupting interraction, push back, Crowd control skill (Like the sleep of the BLM, or the stun of the Ninja for exemple).

This is going out of hands, every Onsal we see PLD abusing cover with one of their mate doing that in coordination in order to maximise effectiveness.

This. Need. To. Stop.

Sadly this went from a “accepted bug” to “working as intended” it probably won’t change unless enough people say something everywhere

I had a match today where a group was using it and every time they would head to a point I just left that point because it was pointless fighting over it when they were just going to walk up and take it.

I started to ignore frontlines every time Onsal Hakair is up. Simply not playing until the next reset is preferable to wasting my time and a lot less frustrating as well.

Sadly if you try to post about this issue say in the general forums where it will get a ton more eyeballs on it the "mods" will just move it here and bury it because no one important at SE comes here.

Yeah, it's definitely a vibe killer when people start bringing 3/4 guard+cover bots because they are desperate to win for whatever reason, I usually just go and goof around when it's onsal.

Honestly I just spam ice magic as Black Mage before they even get close and just hope for best.

Luckily there are some people that play super braindead and mess up this easy stupid cheese so they become fodder

How can SE say that a "Game breaking" skill is working as intended ?

This is unacceptable because it allows paladin to just cheat their way in. Same goes for the other battleground with all the nodes right ? Seriously. Just change "Cover" for "Intervention" and it will resolve everything in one go....

Yeah my friend Zavos was who made that initial post/bug report and told me it had been moved to "working as intended", we just swore off doing Frontline on Onsal Hakair days now and I would suggest that to anyone not achievement hunting unless you want to join the Paladin fiesta.

I feel like the only way we can ever ensure abuse of specific combat in pvp is removed or at least changed is by doing it on a livestream with yoship and the devs. Once they see and experience it with sour tastes in their mouth-- they're bound to change it effective immediately lol. Either that or the PVP heads who show up in all those announcements somehow showcase the abuse of being able to win matches with those means

If I was not trying for the mount I would not touch the mode. It use to be one of my favorites.

But what about 7 nodes including all S ranks and most A’s being capped by the same Paladin duo just covering the capper? That definitely seems like a game breaker type situation to me. I don’t believe that qualifies as “working as intended” and a simple fix of “interacting with objects or mounting will cause cover to be broken” is a huge, world shaking change

It is absolutely gamebreaking. It won't win a match 100% on its own, but is can sure as heck get you more than 50% of the way there even if your team is awful.

That's a terrible argument. Following the same logic all the 3rd party tools that add auto callouts and visible aoe markers ect to Ultimate should be fine too, since they don't guarantee you a clear

This statement of yours is true.

I wish to remind some people that having an obvious advantage doesn't guarantee the win, espcially on FFXIV where almost anything is a team effort. If you have the advantage of having "auto-callouts" but other don't, fine for you, but that's still a gigantic advantage over other average player.

Same goes for this "Cover". It doesn't guarantee the PvP Win, BUT it will guarantee a ton of free point where your enemy can't even fight to unable you to cap it.

Anything that give you an "abnormal" advantage over other player isn't something normal and should be adressed immediatly.

It would be so easy to fix this - make it 99% rather than 100, & we can interrupt. But God, how I hate this map! I do it (pvp) once a day, to level my alt, & I hate it. I deeply hate it. The last one I was in had FIVE stinking paladins, and if any of us were able to stop one, another took over. It genuinely makes me angry at whoever is letting this go on - it's not a 'clever mechanic.' It's a very bad design.

Won a match today that we definitely should have lost because of this. Our team was pretty much outmatched by the other two in terms of combat but we had one party with a few guys doing this and capped a lot of nodes. It was still close, but I really don't see how anyone can say this is not an exploit. Without it my team wouldn't have been any where close to winning, we literally lost every engagement.

Perfect exemple of what an abuse is.

Making a "return" in some PvP match may not surprise some people... By normal means ! But by doing some abuse like that, that's just complete bs

Comebacks are all doable even when you start your first minutes with 0 points but when people whip out the paladin abuse it does not even feel good at all.

Then it can turn all 3 teams decide to do that and the game turns just plain boring and annoying

Just lost to this bug abuse again.

Either remove this bg from frontlines OR show names of our enemies and make it reportable. I would rather just /afk next time i get into this bg than lose winning match to BUG ABUSER

Devs have stated that it's working exactly as intended afaik.
So gg. Just don't queue for Onsal, like I've decided to do. Saves a lot of headache.

And I got stuck in it again today. 2 paladins. I'm beginning to despite the class itself. (which, ok, I never really liked anyway...) I was in one where a nice & polite paladin asked who wanted cover, and none of us took it. I mean, I know we should have, I suppose, but I was still happy no one did. It's so cheap. You feel dirty doing it. I get why people do - but I still hate it.

I remind myself it's not our fault. It's the less than great person who designed this, & worse, let's it continue.

I've started an alt that's only a pallie, so I've finally been forced to play something other than dragoon in Frontline. I lust for blood, not cheese, so I definitely have not been trying to make cheese. Nevertheless, I can feel the intense hatred from 24+ people just for being a pallie no matter the map, but particularly Onsal.

Opponents are so focused on trying to stop me, because of the possibility that I might or can do the cheese strat, that they don't realize this has unintentionally turned into me distracting everyone while my teammate, without cover, snatches the flag. Of course, this doesn't necessarily translate to a win (some of my teams are too slow, too scattered, too timid), but the effects of letting this exist for so long extend past flags that are captured with cheese.

This Is because it Is a loss/loss situation:
-if you ignore PLDs they could cheese
-if you focus PLDs (and to kill One It could take a lot of resource, cause they can invuln, they can guard, they can heal and purify and they have High durability) you burn a lot of time and precious skills that you then cant use to contest a node

Completely agree. On one hand, the "bait" as a strategy can be fun, and I've done that on DRG before. But knowing it's because I can easily cap a node at any moment (from their perspective, anyways) on top of the massive damage reduction doesn't leave a great feeling.

Haha. More seriously, I was surprised how well I ended up liking pallie in PVP. My plan was just to play a few games to get some virtu gear so I wouldn't look like a dork sprout, and I wasn't looking forward to it. But the job really clicked with me. (Though I noticed that I'm more aggressive than other tanks in general.)

Was doing an Onsal Hakair this afternoon before the reset.

And we can add a catch phrase to that now : "Another Onsal, Another Abuse".

Though they didn't win (Karma strike again !), One of the team in front of us got like 5-6 Paladin. Really a bad strategy, considering that Paladin don't pack a punch like other classes which mean they can't really "Break" our party, and they just got steamrolled each time we've seen them, even before they can even approach a node.

Still, this need to stop. This is again an unfair advantage to take point over other classes. Literraly no one except paladin can do this.

This has to be an elaborate prank. After doubling, tripling and quadrupling down on it for fucking MONTHS, I refuse to believe they're going to suddenly budge on this now.. late april fools or something

It's only fairly recently the JPN playerbase started complaining about it too, so I'd believe they're finally changing it.

Yup, the English report from like April was even moved to the "working as intended" section after sitting in the "accepted bugs" section for months prior.
