The only people who have lasting 'content' are ERPers and - in my opinion - people with very low standards.
I took a month off, then came back for this patch but found it hard to stay awake during the tribal quests. Still the same template of pointless busy work since ARR, with 3 repeatables per day.
Think I've been complaining about the content design formula being stale for more than half of the game's lifetime now. Why am I still here? Well I cycle on and off, but probably can't leave perma due to sunken cost of all this time and money invested in my character, and threat of house demolition. Some content is also awesome, the first time at least.
They've tried to get rid of us with a decade of cookie cutter template stuff and no suggestion of ever breaking the cycle, but we're hard to shake because we don't have anything better to do.
How about calm down?
I brought it up as an example but I am talking about MMO's in general.
I dunno why you're having such a severe overreaction to it tho, it has been used as an example for comparison in this thread so I did too just calm down.
Looking at other MMO's and making comparisons when we're generalizing and not getting into specifics is perfectly reasonable.
I dunno how you can say that the Jobs are '' horribly made and have been gutted and simplified '' when you only have one at 90 too.
I play all Melee as well as Tank and while I don't approve of all of the changes I'd say overall I do like most of the new stuff.
People just hyperfocus on the negative.
And I am also talking from experience of having cleared all of the endgame content ( minus the Ultimate ) on all of them at least.
Yeah it's just how it works in every MMO, I enjoy GW2 a lot but it's really for the most part doing the same content you've done basically since launch.
ITT: People complaining about problems present in every MMO.
Want to know what endgame is at GW2? You beat the new story, and then you repeat the same maps, the same raids, the same fractals, the same strikes, or just the same activities you did prior for months. That is your endgame content, repeating the same things you've always done. You may have the seasonly festivals, new legendaries to craft, or a new challenge mode for a strike, but you're still doing the same things over and over once those are completed (and depending on your materials and time, you can complete a legendary rather quickly). You can create new characters yes, but you will end up doing the same things regardless, even in leveling and once they're done being leveled.
You realize people can have more than one character right? This isn’t my only character. I love how you’re telling me to calm down and saying nothing about the person insulting me and calling me a troll. As for the wow comparison, you do it in literally every single criticism thread and i have called you out on it numerous times. If you’re talking about mmo’s in general why is WoW quite literally the only one you always bring up? Also….are you really going to sit here and try to tell me it would take leveling healers or tanks to 90 to realize how much of a shitshow both roles are? Please.
I don't like a job, I don't play it. Simple as that. Leveling it is just to mark it off the checklist. No mount achievement this expansion, as far as I'm aware, so no point on that front. When a job is in a bad state even less of a reason to play it for sure.
which is where stuff like POTD, HOH, bozja and eureka came into play. completely different upgrade systems and mechanics alongside relic quests that forced people to at least familiarize themselves with their systems (well for bozja and eureka at least). we're asking for more things like bozja not another dungeon to speed run or savage fight to learn then reclear once a week at a minute chance of getting the pieces we want. we want interesting long lasting content and it's been done before. but the problem is like with bozja after a few months it just kinda died cause there was nothing to do really after DRS. and no incentive to keep playing it really til the second zone came out, and surprise it went back to being used for a few months until people finished that area.
I kind of miss eureka style content only because of the chaos that was involved heheheheheh
We could have it again, if they allow BLU into Eureka. Imagine it, imagine the pure chaos of BLU being unable to use the elemental strength/weakness ring, but being able to use their elemental attacks to hit those weaknesses, and adding special skills from Eureka that add a defense with a weakness. Like learning Flame Armor, which increases Ice resistance at the cost of lowering fire resistance. Or the Nul skills from FFX, which can block a single move of that element (or in this case, for X amount of seconds).
I initially hated Eureka even with all the buffs stuff since it was brutal doing it blind with no guide but now, it is that kind of enjoyable thing you do when bored: gather up people, spawn monsters that give valuable accessories/key items and so on, help new players etc.
Aside the bots, damn that content still works until now.
Maybe they could add new stuff into those content rather than make a new one considering i haven't seen any talk of a new area/zone.
I think it's pretty reasonable to think that you're a troll considering how you type and your behaviour.
I don't actually believe that tho but I get why people can have that impression, but it's not exactly unusual behaviour online.
Convenient that you supposedly have a second character you're not posting from for some reason that is all blinged out?
I dunno what you're even talking about too I rarely bring up WoW especially not if no one has brought it up before first.
The only reason why I mentioned it specifically here was because it was brought up, I actually considered editing and just saying '' MMO's in general '' because I had an inkling people would say this.
I don't do what you're saying tho it's simply not true it also doesn't detract from the actual point.
I don't care about you '' calling me out '' either, and if you're gonna do that then don't get so personally hurt when someone calls you a troll for behaving like one.
And yes I'd expect someone who talks like this about the Jobs to have at least tried them.
If you have no experience Tanking endgame content then why should I take anything you say about it seriously?
There's a lot of criticism I could bring up but at least it'd be from experience.
And ultimately just because there are negatives and issues doesn't mean people should have these severe overreactions and indulge in hyperbole all the time.
Sure, but it'd be silly for you to talk about it if you don't play it especially so confidently.
Whenever I talk about Jobs I don't play I always mention that and make sure that people know I am speaking from a pov of ignorance about it, I've done that about BRD especially because it's the Job I have the least experience with.
The only Job in fact that I've never bothered to level up to the current expansion.
I don't think that NIN for example is in a bad state at all even if you'll see a lot of people mad about the Trick Attack and Mug changes or about some all things considered quite minor issues like Raiju stacks being lost on weaponskills.
There are problems with the Jobs but I also think people are kinda reaching a lot and are being quite hyperbolic about it too.
I didn't like the Kaiten removal either and am hoping for a revert, but I also don't think it somehow ruined SAM and made it be in a bad state.
I mean are all of the Jobs in such a bad state that the OP can't play any of them except SGE?
It's pretty standard to AFK in MMO cities lol, I am not into the RP or ERP thing but great for those who are I am sure they get a lot of fun out of it.
A lot of it does seem fun too especially the stuff I've seen on Mikepreachwow's Stream, his FC are great with the RP stuff and it adds a significant amount to his Streams.
I think a lot of them are quite dedicated and do some really cool stuff and it's definitely better than just farting around in Limsa AFK:ing.
I've seen it too with the BRD performances and glam police etc in Limsa before, I don't think that type of content and gameplay engagement is somehow invalid or lesser, if anything I think it's really cool and fun.
How i type has nothing to do with being a troll. It seems like you and others like you simply equate anyone who disagrees with you and your views as being a troll to denote criticism. Again, it doesnt take to level 90 to see how a job is doing. I have numerous jobs at 80 on this character, sorry that i didnt invest more time in it but i do have my other rp characters that i have maining jobs i dont main on this one. the entire healer role is gutted. Tanks are....well tanks. And now even dps jobs are being hit by the same thing healer jobs got hit with years ago. Theres a reason so many people are complaining about it and unfortunately dear, youre in the minority in thinking its okay.
I think you may have misunderstood me as were in agreement there. Maybe my post reads weird lol but my point was that basically different folks have different taste. RP venues are always mad fun to go to (outta get back to that again). But yeah it's an aspect of the game that's looked down on by some sadly
Oh damn i just read now and love the idea
They really should let BLU in these content and i love the skills.
Maybe they could even add those FFXII elemental entities that only manifest in foul weather (rain weather= big orb if water, thunderstorm= big electric orb etc). There are all for each element and can be some group challenge to tackle
This question comes up a lot and when I ask people what exactly it is they are looking for they often can't say, or they want what is some kind of elaborate grind requirement that creates a necessity to log in everyday and do something or risk falling forever behind. There are lots of things to do in XIV but not all of it is going to appeal to everyone and so yeah you might run out of things you want to do, but that doesn't mean there is nothing to do.
No no I got it, maybe I didn't word it well either but yeah.
I know some people who work in some RP club and they talk about it all the time and it actually sounds like fun and they make quite a bit of gil out of it too.
Honestly it seems like more fun than most of what people do in games, I think a lot of us are kinda stuck in this mentality that gameplay needs to be combat oriented or handed to us somehow ( like jumping puzzles, pre-created content ).
I have a lot of respect for people who create their own content and I think FFXIV offers a lot of tools to do so.
It's the same in other games like Elder Scrolls games, a lot of the content people engage with is player-driven like coming up with stories and roleplaying.
I do come across that sometimes in FFXIV too I've even seen people roleplaying as fire fighters xD...
I also remember coming across a party before when leveling who were roleplaying as adventurers just randomly out in the world moving manually to dungeons to do them with low lvl gear which I thought was pretty cool.
That all sounds like a blast tbh. And yeah player made content can do wonders. Just have to utilize the tools and have an imagination. (Though ofc some would say the game should be doing it and it shouldnt be up to the player to compensate). Imo XIV offers so much for alot of people but there will still be some where the mold doesn't fit n that's ok. That's why other games exist. Plenty of option to test n see what scratches your itch ya know?
It depends. Games I only bought once? If they were expensive and didn't last more than 10 hours of gameplay, yes.
If they are monthly, I think it's fair that I want something that justifies the monthly fee. Especially if I'm just paying to maintain a virtual house, and playing something else the rest of the time.
we are on the forums
this is the long lasting content wehave arrived forpay sub for
Well here is the question you need to ask yourself, why are you paying a fee for a virtual house in a game you no longer want to play? You are clearly dissatisfied with a lot of aspects of this game and are not enjoying it anymore, maybe it's time to call it and do something that you feel is more worth your time and money.
Despite the points I've been raising here recently, it's not because I don't like the game, but because I see that it can improve, although SE has accommodated.
If I didn't like the game, I wouldn't waste my time coming here, complaining about the bad stuff, and asking for changes. I would say "the problem is not mine," put on my sunglasses, and go to the beach.
Except the changes you want would satisfy only you and maybe a few hundred other players that may enjoy the same things you do, what about the thousands and thousands of others that want something else, where are their changes? What about people who are prefect happy as is, now they are put out because they've changed to suit your wants. There is no way that this is going to satisfy everyone, it will always fall short somewhere for most people. What you think is an improvement for others would be detrimental.
Look, for a moment I thought I was in for an interesting conversation, but that last comment ended it all. Where did I suggest something that would affect thousands of "happy" people? Is suggesting random content that I can waste my time for nothing harmful? Please explain to me.
Meanwhile in actuality they are indeed accommodating a small amount of people with the wasting resources on removing genderlocks. This only really benefits a small portion of the playerbase but they’re devoting resources to it nonetheless so i’m not sure what this other persons argument is.
For any MMO you play, there's always going to be a point where you run out of your preferred content. No developer is going to be able to keep up with demand. Either they will go long times without content or they will resort to busy work grinds. Even with something like the relic quest, there are people who rush through it and are linking the given step within the first day of a new step being released. We always have a point where we need to find our own reasons and goals for logging in. XIV expects more of us with that than other more traditional MMOs because it doesn't resort to the grinding busy work options as much. And that's what makes it easy to take a break, experience other things, and return refreshed and happy to play the game again.
