Would marrying Bakool Ja Ja be considered polygamy or monogamy?
I would still like to Eternal Bond more than one of my friends...
Suncats can have their harems but I can't? Whatever happened to FREEDOM?
On a personal level, don't care. It's a video game, marry 30 people if you want.
On a privacy level, I'm concerned. With how messy the bond system is currently when it comes to stalkers and the current fiasco with how blacklisting works, I'd be more nervous about opening that up to multiple people since rings are already abused in bonds we already have.
Eternal bonds are romantic, they stop being like that when you make it polygamous which is nothing more then a dude with a harem...
cant believe what i have witnessed in this thread humanity have no problems...
Just stating the obvious. This game is Japanese and in their culture marriage is sacred. I know someone who's in a polygamous relationship, very unhappy person because she realizes she's never going to feel special being just a number so I hope they never treat it as the new normal xD
They have no control over their own lore/worldbuilding. So might as well marry 10 people. Think the only limitation is gameplay and they want you to pay for each one
Gay couples can marry, so might as well assume that its also lore accurate. The lore is full of contradictions at times though.
ARR had a gay couple, that was discriminated against in the story, but I have no idea if it was because they were gay or from different cultures / races.
The races mixing narrative is bullcrap though cause we see multiple races mingling. A miqo hyur couple in ala mhigo talking of starting a family. At least a couple of hyur hitting on lalafel / gegerujus Costa Del Sol harem. Who knows how many prostitutes from different races.
That Highlander dude with his two Miqote in Thanalan.
I think only Ishgard is against mixing (Hilda)
So out of touch.
No one is saying make the characters <Place Certain Concept Here>, they are saying allow players choose.
If anything, they don't even have to change how the Marriage Process Works?
Just have it becomes a one on one character eternal bond.
[Also, Saying Polygamy and Polyamory(/ all other Poly types by extension) as harems is very reductive.]
Bringing up the you know someone who is very unverifiable. and trying to come off as an expert on something you ain't. (Unless you yourself are in one.)
It's like if i am to suddenly say my Sibling is in a Polycule currently, and if they wanted to, I would support their decision if they are allowed to make the next step more permitted.
TLDR: It's just a system in a game, that could easily be made to allow you to have multiple connections to multiple characters.
[The System needs an update regardless, to ensure bonds are 100% Broken and can't be used to follow players. During such changes to long standing systems, can improvements or changes be added in.]
Also, no one is making this come off front and center in front of you.
<And to your "Know" someone. People's Lives are subject to their differences and beliefs. You could try to bring up how they're all gonna be that way. but at that point you turn to mocking other beliefs and cultures, who have their own good and bad.>
there is a way but isn't both sided sadly.
you get one person that will marry everyone but that person have to divorce every 2 weeks until everyone is wed with he/her.
everyone will be able to teleport to that person but the person can only teleport to the last person he/she wed.
but other then that there is the necklace I think on the migration that can also indicate it but I do think the problem in itself is mostly coding
Even though I'm four years late to the discussion, it would be cool to implement this at some point. But considering what in 2021 one of the most popular opposing views was "requesting such a feature at a time when actual content is getting pushed back is a weird request", think we can pull it away for a good while. Along with hat and hair support for vieras and hrothgars....better glamour system....inreased speed of release of new content in general...patches to jobs...please be patient, Yoshi-P is the only person working on this game, after all. Small indie-company, you know~?
There are two ring slots, so I suppose they could open it up to 3-way relationships at least.
No. Lore-wise polygamous marriages under the Twelve don't make sense. The entire narrative is between two people and no more than that.
Plenty of other games you can fantasize or headcanon that with. It won't be in FFXIV, that's for sure. Or you can go to Balmung and roleplay it out. You have options.
Just let us buy the dress glam separately.
OP just wants a harem of SPHEEEEEEEN!!!!
I support open, poly or traditional relationships really it should up to the people involved how they want to live their life, so it being in a video game is fine with me lol.
More than one?... I just wish there were some random NPCs via a matchmaker or somesuch generous feature for people who are having no luck finding one bondmate. XD
It hurts being ever the bridesmaid. ;~;
I think it's mostly because of mechanical reason with the eternity ring in itself so there is only two ways to do thing in this situation.
1. there is a necklace that represent such bond in the mogstation.
2. you find a main partner that everyone get married to but it will be slow and expensive. depending on how much people the main partner will marry. so in short marry main partner to one then divorce 2 weeks later only the main partner then remary and repeat with the main partner until everyone is married. so the main partner will be able to teleport to one person while the rest can teleport to the main partner that have been picked up
All i'm hearing is OP wanted Harems.
Ya all act like its some kinda off world oddity to have three people loving each other. While it is not as common as your regular Relationship, i far prefer this over all the disturbing stuff i had to witness in this Game.
It's almost like different things work for different people. It's the same old tired argument being reused, people trying to force their beliefs onto others because it works out great for them not realising not everyone is the same.
Poly especially seems to get a bad coverage because people associate it with cheating or non loyalty, not realising some people don't really view love or relationships in the same mindset they do, some people will be unhappy in that type of relationship, but others would be unhappy in a monogamous relationship I don't know how that is hard to comprehend for some people.
"In a time long ago, the people of Eorzea faced a crisis no less dire than the fall of Dalamud...
Yet rather than set aside their disputes and rebuild from the ashes, they succumbed to their baser instincts and squabbled amongst themselves. In the aftermath of that calamity, the land slipped further into chaos...
Two souls, united in purpose, rose above their brethren, and together they sought out the marks of the Twelve to entreat each deity for an answer to the question: what must mankind do to survive?
Before each mark they prayed and awaited a response...but the ones they received were not the ones they sought. Yet they pressed on, ever hopeful, and over the course of their journey, a bond began to form between the two...
Many now retrace the steps of their journey, visiting each mark of the Twelve as they did long ago." - Lore
DUNNO, seems very much like a two person affair to me. If you want more partners, you can do it, but seems like the eternal bond is very much steeped in tradition. You can rent out that small chapel in Thanalan and have your own ceremony. Sanctum of the TWELVE is for couples only, simple as. I see words like "partner" "couple" "bond between two" in the lore, nothing else.
Nor do I think the lore should bend to someones real life wants and likes. Roleplay it out, have your own ceremonies in your house or become one of the Bayaqud Xaela who take multiple husbands.
