Yeah! I was kinda sad when Dwarves didn't end up their own race. I'd really like something in between lalas and female Au Ra in size, and dwarves woulda been the best race for it... Now I dunno what could fit. Maybe Genome Monkey people, using proportions from FF9?

Maybe something like a smallish Hyur, with the hunched over posture of Hrothgar and some monkey face fur and tail? Maybe some glow effects too to imitate the trance mode?

The last thing FFXIV needs is yet another cat race lmao (moombas, I mean). Realistically these... Lilties seem like the only ones that match the look and proportions of Lalafell enough that they could be based on them, and a plant-like race is also a niche not yet represented in the playable roster

Actually I think the height similarity is due to the difference in art style. FFIX moved away from the style they used on most of their modern games to appear more cartoonish and I think this essentially squished the height on alot of the characters so they appeared to be shorter than they actually are.

Oh I know, but I assume they'd want to preserve their recognizable aesthetic even in a non-"chibi" setting

SE aren’t capable of doing both, you’re giving them too much faith. Look how the situation worked with Viera having no hairstyles or options for 2+ years after being told to ‘look forward to future patches’. Instead, male Viera were being created who suffer the same limitations and no information on if there’ll be improvements.

SE aren’t ready to implement Ivalician Moogles or any other small race because it’s clearly too much work for them to handle. If they can’t focus on their already playable races, why would you think they can work miracles on making ivalician moogles have no limitations? If they make those moogles playable races people are only going to complain how they have nothing compared to other races.

And also, moogles won’t be able to have anything in compensation for the limitations because the other races on the forums would just scream how they deserve stuff too.

For a new small race I'd have liked to see the FF9 Genomes as monkey people. Zidane in dissidia is protrayed at a sort of fantasy dwarf height, so you could put them in that height space between Lala and Fem Miqote. With the monkey features you could put a spin on the smallness without making them appear too childish too.

I don't think we'll see new races before a major ground up revamp of character creation in general though.

We've hit our quota on small and cute, hand over the burly shortstacks. I want to see short kings and queens that looks like they can bench press a Roegadyn despite being barely taller than their calves lmao.

Though, I have to be frank...this is just an objectively better version of lalas. If we gave them beards and a muscle slider, I would probably switch to lala. No new race needed.

I recall them saying it was unlikely, and honestly I don't blame them. Won't stop me from wishing for buff shortstacks though.

EDIT: I thought the same with the Lupins, when they were first introduced in Stormblood. I hoped they would become playable, but alas, it's only meant to be a dream. Oh well, I can write fanfictions.

Apparently their pipeline for outfits is kind of fubar so they got to make the gear for each race/sex independently...

Sounds like a time-consuming headache. If another small race were made playable, I could see them reusing data for Lalafells.
