It's ok the top pvp players deserve it. I want this bad ass looking glam but it's ok , not all need to be for free.
As for why as paying costumer you have timed things, why are event items from old events you can't get any more?

What if the previous season rewards were available, only as one time glamour prism shards, only craftable by the original winners of that feast.
Wait till she finds out about the makai set.
I know this is a troll thread. I know this OP should be using the Modern Aesthetics - Controlled Chaos hairstyle. But, as a mount and minion collector who is missing out on all these amazing mounts and minions they've given out in the Feast, someone who sees those empty blocks on the collecting sites and cries at night knowing I'll never have them, I have to say something.
NO.
It's not like this was some secret squirreled away in the deepest depths of the files so deep that no dat miner would ever find it. This was announced stuff, pics included. You could've worked for it. You didn't.
What next, Karen? It's not fair that you can't have the Legacy tattoo, goobbue, Legacy chocobo, and Legacy sub costs because you didn't want to play it back then? Sucks to suck.
Again, realizing this is a troll thread, I'm also responding to the prime number issue because apparantly Karen's precious little kid who got all As in his classes (probably because mommy paid someone off) can't explain to her what a prime number is. It's a whole number that's divisible by only itself or 1. It just so happens that 1 is only divisible by itself and 1.
Like seriously, this thread alone makes me want to update my old thread because that entire post is basically riffing on entitled idiots.
cute thread
PvP chads win
That's because there's a BIG chunk of them boosting others who then turn around and sell the accounts.
I've seen a fair few in Feast wearing the armor - the shadow one and the hell hound one. But to see them actually requires people to play those modes, and with the odds stacked against you from the start (seriously? Who decided that Diamond only falls to Platinum next season but Gold falls to Bronze? There's so few players as it is...) you'll be waiting hours to get a match.

Literally never seen anybody wear this.
I think the best you can hope for is they maybe add a new slight redesign. While Yoshidas word isn't that good, he has repeatedly defended the exclusivity of the feast rewards. It is probably a bad optic they would like to avoid. Remember they are adding a new mode. Maybe a new reward system and re-purposing old stuff is coming.
I hope so. Why anyone would defend that bass-ackwards system is beyond me. We need MORE people to PVP and the only way you're going to get them is by making rewards available to a larger group, but yeah, you SHOULD have to PVP for them and I don't mean frontline. Just like they delete the RMT from time to time, they need to cull the win-traders, account sellers and RMT traders of PVP. The leaderboard used to mean something.. I don't think it does anymore.
Seasonal Reward Tracks.
You make sure all those rewards stay in the hands of PvPers, of Top Rankers even.
But active ones, and constatly rotating, so new players can jump anytime to the reward track of their choice. That way if you see -And you will see them way more often- a PvP mount or glamour you will know is in hands of a legit and active players. Anyone who doesn't participate of the tracks just loses access to those, just like in most competitions where you win once, but next year you gotta compete again if you want to keep calling yourself a champion.
Sounds like a pretty stupid system. Seasons are closed events, why do you wanna strip away rewards from people who earned them?
If you are champion in any sport, you are always a champion of that event/year. Nobody will take away your gold medal next year lol
Same opinion as i have to seasonal stuff in other games.
All rewards should be added to a pool of rewards you can chose from.
Latecomer to the game? No problem you can still get that one awesome looking thing that was released two years ago.
Failed to meet the criteria for a reward you want? No problem you can try again next season.
Fear of missing out mechanics are just predatory and you can only have so much fomo before people stops caring about even trying.
But you get a gold medal.
And they look a lot a like, they kinda the same aside the date.
You just sound like you don't like actual competition. Some people likes to purchase accounts with those mounts. What ACTUAL value do they have as rewards if they are not in hands of actually good players?
Ultimate content can be purchased by gil and the devs bat an eye. If you wanted to support an exclusive reward system like that, you would agree that it would be great if only the first 8 players to finish an Ultimate get the drops, then the duty is removed forever and it's rewards with it.
Regardless of how you personally feel about the PVP rewards, at the end of the day, this game is about one thing:
Money.
How does it make money? Subscriptions.
How do you get subscriptions? Entice people with shiny things.
How do you get shiny things? Doing stuff in game. Sometimes stuff that takes a LOOOOONG time. But said shiny things are always available for you if you're willing to learn, put forth the effort, and practice.
Locking rewards per season per 100 players across the data center is detrimental to the growth of the game. It encourages the very behavior we all hate - win trading, botting, pay-to-win (and worse, griefing, doxxing, stalking).
Crafting did the same thing for a time (it reared its ugly head back during Ishgard Restoration rankings... I hope they learned from that). Crafting used to be a huge time sink and you had to unlock ALL of them to 60 to get all the cross-class skills. So of course crafting bots sprang up to minimize the drudgery.
What'd SE do to attract more people to craft? They made it more accessible so that newcomers would want to try it out and get good at it. They made rewards through Ishgard enticing enough to where people would want to do it.
Remember Diadem's first incarnation? It wasn't bad but you had gatherers vs. fighters and that created a huge rift. So SE took it down and redid it only fighters OR gatherers (if I remember right) and sucked all the fun right out of it. Back to the drawing board they went and finally made a Diadem that's actually helpful to players when leveling and has good rewards (scrips and gil). PVP needs this same treatment...all PVP, not just Feast (but especially Feast).
Remember when desynthesis would delevel you in one class and raise your level in another, and you could only really get good at THREE classes? I do. And I went through the time to get really good at three of them and could desynth anything. Got really wealthy from it too.
Then they opened up desynthesis to the masses. Now you have a chance at getting something good, but you could still just be starting out in desynth and working your way up through it.
You don't see me over here losing my damn mind because they made it more accessible to the masses. I love it! I want more people to make a ton of gil! I love seeing new crafters! I want more people to PVP! That's what makes a healthy game environment. More accessibility, not less.
(and for the record, I still want people to PVP for those rewards. Not frontline either. Frontline is a clown show). But making them more accessible and making PVP not so reliant on microsecond movements (looking at you, Hallowed Ground that went off and I died anyway behind a wall,) would do a world of good for that part of the game, rather than just letting it die.
And before anyone comes out with "BuT WoW HaS LiMiTeD PvP ReWaRdS" yeah, let's NOT look at WoW as a pristine model of how to do stuff in FFXIV please. At all.
Number 1 - There are 8 datacenters, Japan and Europe are not datacenters, Japan is a country and Europe is a region of countries.
Number 2 - You said 6 datacenters, then you list 3 datacenters and 2 others. You can't count, so let's do this together.
1 - Aether
2 - Crystal
3 - Primal
4 - Chaos
5 - Light
6 - Elemental
7 - Gaia
8 - Mana
See that wasn't so hard, was it.
I largely disagree for an MMO setting. The game is ever breathing and living. Having limited items from events are almost fundamental to it.
It a game where it's an never ending grind, people enjoy having that something special. Not everything should be always available, otherwise nothing is special.
And it's not like equivalent rewards aren't continually added. "Sorry you didn't get this blue object, but hey the red version is right here for the taking next time."
I know why pvp is bad and in my opinion they should change pve.
Here bosses do abilities when they finish casts not when animation finishes.
BUT players abilities do not happen on your button press but on ANIMATION finish .
So npcs have faster response and more fluid gameplay :P.
Ps and cool rewards only for top 100 surely does not make anyone to play.
Don’t waste time here talking math. There are several instances where this individual chooses to be ignorant, despite facts.
For example, they do not understand prime numbers. And apparently they don’t know when fall or winter are. Fine if they didn’t know, we’re told the correct info, and moved on..but this guy here, they’re a special kinda “want to argue themselves into a hole, facts be damned” type.
Also, @Titanmen, small request, once your alts get outed, could you do something like put fedoras on them? A fun in joke for us forum peeps. I’m dyin to know how many I got pinned down correctly.
Although the topic of exceptionally good All Class armour being locked behind T100 Feast should be touched upon. I don't think it should start with such hostile opening post.
Feast rewards were always there, they were always like that. It's only that now they gave it extremly detailed and epic glamour that on top of it is all class. The negativity around this reward is just culmination of:
- How badly the Feast is designed (one map, time limited, dead outside season, you get almost nothing for participation, unless you are top 100)
- How PvP is unpopular mode in FFXIV
- This is probably the only good looking all class plate armour in the game
<Put caster wearing a dress meme here>- It's limited and will never return. Think of how many people you have saw with Season 1-10 rewards. Most of old T100 are not even playing the game anymore. This armour will share that fate in 2+ years
If XIV's team were to address at least one of those points, the sour taste of this beeing T100 Feast reward would be significantly reduced.
- Account-wide rewards
- Make it per tier, i.e. you reach diamond, you get rewards associated with it.
- Even if you reach platinum, gold, whatever, you still get something.. maybe vouchers that you can eventually use to purchase said rewards across several seasons. It's just that top performers get them sooner.
- Losing doesn't cost you points. You stay where you are unless you win. That should curb a lot of the toxicity. Maybe....
- Maps that actually feel like an arena or something. Cute moogles and airships don't make me think "my thirst for blood must be sated!";)
It's not rocket surgery but for some reason they decided to double down and keep digging themselves into this hole of stubbornness with regard to PVP.
Thankfully they're going to rework it so that Feast isn't all about the healer. Literally a good healer can carry an entire match and it shouldn't be that way.
Starting to think your A. Karen type or B. A troll similar toned thread about aether being locked also it's a PVP set not uncommon for them to be renewed with each season unlike that "Certain MMO" aka wow who had a habit of limiting almost everything a bit of limit here and it is ok especially if it's PVP takes the place of a trophy aye. So long as they don't time limit like 99.9% of stuff it's fine but stop for real it's sad when I notice a troll/Karen trend I barely ever speak on the forums.
To be fair, the anger of the community about the armor is completely justified. There were plenty of "elite feast players" arround during Season 18-19 who even used alt characters just to kick people off from the Top 100.
If you don't believe me, then check Season 18 on Chaos Datacenter and i dare you telling me that People were playing in a legit way. It was straight out impossible to get that Armor without either being a Botter, Cheater or Wintrader.
And the best part is, that they are getting away with it
every.
single.
time.
The medals made for that year are not the same as the previous, same with rings, trophies, etc. They are made specifically for that year, for that accomplishment. You cannot win the 2011 Superbowl rings by winning the 2021 Superbowl. In the same analogy, saying that you can place 5th for five years in a row to get the 2016 trophy is a bit of a stretch when it comes to a competitive game mode.
I can negate this with a single example: Frontlines/Rival Wings. It has what you ask for, rewards based on achievements that you can get over time, except there is an issue. Hardly anyone actually tries. Mind you it's a larger playerbase per game, but after all my matches on all game modes, you would be lucky if a quarter of your team actually puts for any effort. They would rather spam games and rng wins. People already do that in feast for items like Fenrir and Hellhound minions, the Regalia mount, and was extremely bad during the Garo event. Until the matchmaking is fundamentally fixed, you will just have people roll their face on their keyboard till they hit plat(which you can easily get to with a negative win rate which is also an issue in itself), for a few seasons to get a reward somebody played over 500 games to achieve. This might be addressed with the new PVP mode come 6.0 as was mentioned, but I cannot see this being healthy for the game mode as whole.
